America's bleeding ulcer...

You may think, how is it possible for a country to have a medical condition like a bleeding ulcer. Read on... we can talk about it.
In the 70's it seemed like many of my friends had a parent who had a bleeding ulcer and they complained profusely about it. Lots of them were smokers, heavy drinkers taking medicines and being on restricted diets, but that didn't work. Eventually, doctors figured out a combination of antibiotic and bismol that made ulcers go away. No ulcers... no complaints.

I did a blog last week about building a wall (across the Mexican border) to stop illegal immigration. This has been going on for decades. Yeah... decades. Lots of talk (read: complaints) but no action. Republicans continue to complain, many directly blaming Biden for the situation they faced before he became president.

Trump ran a campaign on building a wall to stop immigration but was unsuccessful in doing so. Why?

Conservatives didn't like Roe versus Wade and constantly complained about it. Trump installed a few conservative supreme court justices and eventually the law of the land had changed with Trump claiming credit. That essentially stopped the complainers about the issue of legal abortion. They got what they wanted... except they need to find something different to complain about and to use in their campaigns.

What we have now would appear to be a history first... Democratic president Joe Biden has been instrumental in getting a bi-partisan bill directly aimed at resolving the immigration problem. He's doing it without a wall. No catch & release, faster processing, ability to block illegal drugs from entering our country. This is not a small step in immigration reform. It's a giant leap.

House speaker Mike Johnson is killing the plan. It became obvious that approving a deal like this in an election year would be making Biden successful and taking away from Trump to use illegal immigration in his campaign. Essentially Mike doesn't want Biden to cure a bleeding ulcer.

All the news media realize it. The republicans have stopped the progress to literally end their complaints about immigration... because it's an issue that Trump needs to campaign on.

Bitter Blogging...

We're past the full moon and the amount of eye scratching (virtual, of course) is at an all time high. Angry comments and name calling. Maybe some of you need to reduce stress as you're all uneasy about the little things in life.
Here's my suggestion: Remember bubble wrap? Remember the satisfaction of popping all the bubbles?

The funniest bumper/window stickers...

Over the years, I've seen lots of different stickers on cars. Not as many "Baby on Board" as years ago. More 'weapons owned' than family member window stickers. 911 was an inside job is a favorite. Political stickers have a long lifespan. They are on some cars long enough for the edges curl from the Florida sun and weather making them age... lots of TRUMP 2020 are still around and a few 'The 2020 election was rigged' stickers exist.
The COEXIST isn't seen very often... nearly as dead as the "If you can read this, you're too close BACK OFF!!"

Entering my community yesterday, was a car with a bumper stick I haven't see before. I followed the car until he parked and asked "Where did you get that bumper sticker?"
The guy said AMAZON.
I said "it's the first time I've seen that one."
We laughed and he said "You probably won't see too many of these in Florida"
I nodded.

DeSantis is back at it, again...

I often wonder if Florida governor Ron DeSantis is the antichrist as he's back to doing things that boxed him into issues that were unpopular with Florida voters.

The son of Immigrants, he rages against immigrants and once misappropriated funds to bus some illegals across Texas state line and drop them off at Martha's Vineyard with no approval or jurisdiction to do so.
He's anti-Disney, anti-gay, anti-woke, anti-books and now it's reported he's reaching out to send the Florida National Guard to guard the Mexico border.

C'mon Ron... pay attention to Florida, the state where you were elected to serve.

Don't build the wall, Don't build the wall...

One of Trump's campaign promises for the 2016 election included replacing Obamacare with something that was much better and cheaper. He also said he would build a wall between the United States and Mexico and have Mexico pay for it.
If you remember in many of his rallies they chanted 'Build the wall, Build the wall' Remember?

He had 4 years to do it and with a Republican backed congress and didn't.

So now, Joe Biden in his last year of the 2020 presidency is attempting to get a bi-partisan effort to approve funding to block illegal immigration across the US & Mexican border.

While this is happening, House Republicans vote to advance effort to impeach Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Secretary Mayorkas claiming that Mayorkas has committed high crimes and misdemeanors for his handling of the southern border.

Mayorkas stated that “the problems with our broken and outdated immigration system are not new” and called on Congress to help provide a legislative solution to the “historically divisive issue.” He praised the bipartisan group of senators he has worked with for its willingness to put their differences aside to try to find solutions at the border.

So while Biden himself has announced they are working on a plan, I'm seeing stories that congress is actually working against him. Why?
Because Trump told them to kill the deal.

Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson was asked if he spoke to Trump about it and he said no. (1:08 seconds into the video) then he stated he has talked to Trump (1:33 seconds into the video) and that's a direct contradiction. Some people would call him a liar.

What we see here is Trump manipulating Republican lawmakers not to approve a bi-partisan effort regarding securing the border.

Now, Trump is in the news as it appears to be, 'don't build the wall' as I need 'build the wall' as part of my 2024 campaign.

No, I didn't say that... but his actions did.

Former President Trump, the current GOP front-runner who has railed against the bipartisan border deal for weeks, denied the idea of trying to block President Biden, his likely rival in the 2024 election, from achieving a legislative win by passing the bill.

Another case of Links, kinks and political stinks...

Habba Dabba stepped in some Dudu...

I'm not sure where Trump picked up attorney Alina Habba, but she's doing an excellent job of digging a hole in which to fall into. Remember, she's the one who didn't 'click the box' to request a jury trial that Trump is blaming on the court. She's been speaking out of turn and told several times by the judge to sit down.

She asked for a court delay on the E. Jean Carroll trial claiming she was exposed to COVID and had a fever, however she wasn't wearing a mask during the hearing. The next day she was seen at the celebration of Trump's New Hampshire primary win.

Dylan Quattricci documented the greet on his Twitter account calling her Trump's rockstar attorney and a huge inspiration.

I'm thinking...
She lied to a judge, attended a political rally, showing political judgement, attempted to falsely delay a trial.
Those actions fall under the bar association guidelines.
She could be removed from the case and the bench.
I've said this before, if Trump fires his attorneys, he won't pay _and_ request a delay from the court so he can secure new representation.

Me thinks that rockstar attorney Habba Dabba Du stepped in some Dudu...

Do people act differently knowing there's a camera recording their movements...

A few years ago was my first experience of management having cameras installed in their business. One at the front door to the showroom, one at the back door of shipping/loading and a few around the office that included work stations to cover design department, sales and production staff.

Maybe it's important to see who enters the building or what materials leave the warehouse, but I always thought there was a high level of paranoia to constantly observe what the workers are doing... possibly to include suspicion the staff were conspiring against the boss.

Take for example, when 2 people had a meeting, the boss 'mysteriously' appeared to listen in on their conversation. That happened often.

Some places a video is needed, like the one where airport security spotted an agent removing cash from a travelers wallet passing through the scanner BEFORE it hit the camera. Why before? Should the traveler declare the money was stolen, the replay of the video would show an empty wallet. If the money was taken after the scan, money would have been inside the wallet, incriminating evidence to the security worker.

So my thought today is: Do people act differently knowing there's a camera recording their movements?

Striking the first blow...

Often... maybe too often, when you have people commenting on a blog who have a difference of opinion to other comments on the blog, will say something to inflame another person... be it the OP or another commenter.
Sometimes it's intentional or sometimes harmless words that are are misconstrued.
Political orientation, religion, ethnic background are hot topics where one person will 'strike the first blow' in an attempt to start a confrontation, often with name calling or words intended to put someone down. Usually, the first blow won't be the last and whenever the opportunity exists, it's like pulling off a scab and allowing the wound to bleed again... striking another blow!

Cousin Joe...

Joseph was born and raised in New York City. He had a job with the government and a few years after he retired, Joe decided to sell his house and move to Florida.
Not long after, Joe started worrying about his health and took his first colonoscopy at the age of 75. They found cancer and he went through surgery. He was lucky as they removed the cancer and he needs no additional treatment.
Joe was having issues with a swollen thyroid gland and went into surgery to have it checked out. Under anesthesia, they were unable to control his blood pressure and stopped in the middle of surgery. He remained in the hospital for testing and found that 2 arteries near his heart were blocked by 80%
Open-heart surgery would have been the normal procedure, but since he already had one issue, 2 stents were the least invasive and best thing.
He's recovering and should be out of the hospital this week.
All things considered... I wish him the best and reluctant to celebrate at the 'all you can eat' sushi restaurant. Pizza may also be out of the question.

Dirty Politics...

I'm working on some video links where Trump has promised retribution to anyone who has gone against him. Soon, but not now. He's been the leader in the race for the Republican nomination. All have dropped out with the exception of Nikki Hailey who is 'hanging in there' and still has a slight chance, despite Trumps huge lead.

Top story: Trump threatens to blacklist Nikki Haley's donors.
Are you kidding me?

Former President Donald Trump threatened Wednesday to blacklist anyone who donates to Nikki Haley's presidential campaign.

Trump wrote on Truth Social that anyone who makes a contribution to the Haley campaign "from this moment forth, will be permanently barred from the MAGA camp."

"We don't want them, and will not accept them," he added.

Gotta love that TRUTH social media platform where he can say/do anything he wants...

At least it's MAGA or nothing !!

Move Over Law...

Florida's Move Over Law aka Right-of-way traffic law, got tougher in 2024. Basically, it was designed for safety of police and first responders who have their emergency flashers on when stopped or parked on a highway shoulder.
On a multi-lane highway, you are required to 'move over' a lane giving safe clearance. For example, an officer opens his car door and steps out and he's right at the edge of the travel lane.

The law changed this year to include ANY vehicle with flashers on. This includes stranded vehicles. Maybe you've seen someone who is on the side of the road, crouched down changing a flat tire only a few feet from the roadway... they have no chance of safety. With the car jacked up and a truck flying by at 65mph there is enough wind force that could easily knock the stand off the car. The same thing for a tow truck who may be backing at a slight angle to hookup and be close to the edge of a travel lane.

Sometimes, it's not possible to move over with adjacent travel. People are too aggressive to allow someone access to their lane and not responsive to the law. In that case you're required to SLOW DOWN at least 20 mph below the posted limit.

Yeah, it's the law, but I rarely see people moving over.

The song in my head...

Flashback to 1968 and I was going to high school by day and a musician in a garage band by night. I enjoyed school with the exception of a few subjects. Typically, it was lousy teachers for that. My older brother remembered many of the ones I got.
Anyway, to pass the time I would 'rehearse virtually' long before personal computers and internet allowed us to do that.
In my head I could go through a 40 minute set, which was perfect as most of my classes lasted 40 minutes!

Since then, I cannot recall not having the ability to 'play' a song in my head.

Having blogged about people who cannot work without music playing, depending on what I'm doing... I could be the opposite. At work, I'm paid to do a job and need to focus.
The last thing I need is to have music (any music) as a distraction.
Maybe if I'm putting stock on shelves in a warehouse or painting can I get lost in music and not have it interfere with my job.

The one contradiction is the music in my head. If I'm driving in my car, listening to music and go into the house... there's a really good chance that last song I listened to is still playing in my virtual jukebox. If I have no distractions, I'll play the song in my head and it will be there when I wake up!

Currently, I'm 'listening' to Emerson Lake and Palmer The Endless Enigma. It started this weekend when I did a YouTube marathon on ELP.

Absolutely a great song... I could listen to it for days!
