A closet full of his clothes...

But he died a year ago.
A few times a month I go to a sales lead where the widow wants to make changes they couldn't do when their sick husband was alive.
New flooring. Renovate the bathrooms. New kitchen.
Sad, but it's a step in their recovery of their lives.

Have you seen me campaign...

In the 1980's a campaign was rolled out to help locate lost children. Their photos with minimal description was placed on the sides of milk cartons and junk mail flyers in an attempt to raise the awareness. The recovery program must have been working as it was around for a few decades.

Have you seen me? with a photo and the details of the missing child, age, location, date of disappearance and most importantly a number to call should you or anyone you know of have information about the missing child.

Paige Gifford a 16 year old girl from Barry County Michigan disappeared from her home on April 24, 2019. She's 5'-6" tall and weighs 180 pounds.
Yes, I know you're thinking a 16 year old weighing 180 is about 50 pounds overweight. Agreed, but she's got a life ahead of her and exercise with Keto diet should be a consideration.

I made another amazing find yesterday and think I should call the authorities.
On the list of new members, Lunia33 joins us as a 36 year old woman from New York...
and... and... her profile has the photo of missing Paige Gifford. She's probably 17 years old by now.

Somewhere I have a 'sticky note' with the number of CRIMESTOPPERS and I'm going to be the one to call and collect the reward for this child!

I could see it now... "Hello, Crimestoppers, I found your girl!"

Fay, Fay... is everything okay?

I know she's got a few things going on with her parents and family.
Usually she isn't gone more than a week and I think it's nearly 2.
Good thoughts your way my friend!

You go girl...

Some male/female names are spelled the same and it's tricky getting the gender correct. Robin, for example. No clue.
Rene is a guy and Renee is a girl. Billy being the male and Billie being the female. Tony the guy and Toni the girl.
Lots of Latins name their children Angel boys and girls. Too easy to miss that one.

An obvious is audible gender distinction would be Paul and Paula.

What about Loren? Probably Loren is the masculine of Lauren.
I was on a musician board and one of the members named Loren mostly commented on forum threads with a woman friend. I followed their posts but never did I see anything from Loren that would give a clue of gender.
That person made a statement of wanting to buy an expensive custom made wooden flute and solicited responses. I gave my approval by saying "You go girl!" and promptly got a slap that Loren is a guy. I apologized for the error and returned another "You go girl!"

Fact Check?

It would be nice to have 'real time' fact checking for all public appearances from now on...

Christmas 2020

I went to Home Depot yesterday and didn't see any Halloween or Thanksgiving decorations. That's because Christmas displays eclipsed the 2 holidays in front of it.
Fake trees... you've got 'em

Material Shortages...

Business it tough enough, lets add material shortages/backorders to the list.
I used to sell cabinets from one manufacturer that had delivery 4 to 5 weeks.

Due to COVID-19 the factory was closed and their schedule went to 12 weeks.
Some of my orders were switched to another manufacturer with similar product at a 6 week schedule. I'll get around that problem.

Tile we used to get from a local distributor no longer has inventory. Now, it comes from a warehouse a few hundred miles away. Add 2-3 days to get things we used to pick up the same day as ordered.

One of my clients is in Florida 5 days a month and I coordinated all the work to be done while they are away. We started the bathroom renovation, but the tub and faucet aren't available for 3 weeks so we will halt the work, clean the area and continue when they leave.

Quartz slabs for a countertop were ordered 4 weeks in advance and the ship date fit into our schedule. Now, it's backordered another 3 weeks and the completion schedule must be revised.

At this point, we must notify clients of changes due to factors beyond our control and get orders in as quickly as possible.

My brother had an all-important video conference scheduled. A week before the event, his webcam stopped and nobody (local or online) had stock to ship a replacement. I pulled one from my system and sent it overnight.

It's a dog-eat-dog world and not like hoarding toilet paper, a word to the wise, when shopping, if you see something on the shelf that you'll need in the future, but you think you can get it later... don't. Get it now. It may not be in stock when the time comes that you actually need it.

The Magic White...

The magazine rack at the local Wal-Mart is near the corridor by the registers. On my way out I always notice a memorabilia book about artist Bob Ross. As a kid I remember Bob had a TV show (on public broadcasting) that was as exciting as watching grass grow. My dad watched it in between cat naps!
Bob's art reminded me of the 'starving artists' who would park a truck in an empty lot selling framed murals on black velvet.

The difference was Bob's art was scenic usually with a mountain and waterfall or a lake and a reflection of the moon shimmering over the water. In order to get the shimmering effect, Bob would use white paint at the end. He coined a key phrase "Magic White" to describe the technique that made the reflection stand out in his painting.

From time-to-time someone will reference Bob and his painting skills, usually in jest, but the fact is he had that gig for years and lots of people watched it!

Million Dollar Movie Theme...

My brother called to talk about... stuff.
He mentioned the dozens of VCR tapes my father made and sent him. He asked if I remembered the The Million Dollar Movies, a TV show that played the same movie 2 times per night all week. I was too young to recall, but I researched to see it was WOR-TV channel 9 out of New York from 1955. Yeah, at 3 years old I had different priorities and watching classic movies wasn't on my list.

So Poof! via the miracle of YouTube, I was able to call up the movie theme while we were talking.

Tara's Theme, from Gone With The Wind written by Max Steiner.

Old cars are in demand...

Take (literally) for example, the Ford F-Series truck. While it's one of the top selling vehicles in America, it's also the most stolen vehicle in America. Ford must have made a really good 2006 model as reports were 38,938 of them were stolen in 2019.
13 year old trucks made the top of the list and second on the list were the 2000 Honda Civic at 33,220 last year. Stealing a 19 year old car?

I'm thinking they are disappearing to be stripped for parts.
