Cinnamon...

I did some year end medical tests and the blood work shows my sugar levels went up a notch. Halloween candy? That was a factor. Coffee, tea and soft drinks easily a major contributor.

A co-worker said he had a similar problem and his blood sugar levels are now normal since he started talking cinnamon supplements.

When researching the benefits of cinnamon, I get mixed reviews. Obviously, doctors don't want patients taking something that cuts into their control and a few videos play-down the success patients get because of the variance in brand/type of cinnamon and dosage. There's always a warning involved.

One friend said... forget the cinnamon. Control my diet... it's the second most important thing and that exercise is actually the most essential part of lowering blood sugar.

Christmas Star 2020...

There was a lot of chatter about the solstice and the 'Great Conjunction' of the near alignment of Jupiter and Saturn happened this evening.

Oh, you missed it? I read it will happen again in 800 years!

While it's considered a phenomenon, I'm a bit disappointed and I was expecting it to have more brilliance.

South Florida had 63F degrees and not a cloud in the sky.

My best view was standing in the open section of a golf course, where it was visible in the southwest less than 20 degrees above the horizon.

"That's it!"
"No, it can't be."
"It's gotta be it... nothing else in sky."

She said "Enough, let's go home!"
"Yeah... Okay."

A few news stories called it the Christmas Star and compared it to the biblical Three Wise Men guided by a star.
Let's talk facts:
It's 2 planets (not a star) and lasts less than an hour. Those guys had traveled a while.

Boba Fett... may he Rest In Peace.

75 year old British actor, Jeremy Bullock who played bounty hunter Boba Fett in the original Star Wars series passed away this week.
According to his agent, "He died peacefully, in hospital, surrounded by his family, from health complications following his many years living with Parkinson's disease."

(another one surrounded by family)

For every action...

For every action, there's an opposite and often more powerful reaction.
Coming from the mouth of attorney Sidney Powell were false accusations that Dominion Voting Systems, makers of the machines used in the 2020 presidential elections were rigged.

Her statements were (and still are) unfounded. However, the reaction to this is Dominion employees have been stalked, harassed and received death threats.

Dominion has sent a letter to Powell demanding:
"For the safety of Dominion's employees and for the sake of the truth and confidence in American democracy, we demand that you immediately and publicly retract your false accusations and set the record straight."

It's my opinion a simple letter isn't enough and Powell should suffer some legal consequences for her actions.

See Food... my new diet plan!

When you order food at a restaurant, they bring a plate and unless it's an all you can eat, that plate of food 'is' your meal. Eat the food and you're done.
Dinner at my house usually has selections with enough food for 3 meals.
I'm taking issue with that... because... I have the ability to eat and eat and eat with no restraint.
For this holiday season, I'm asking not to be on a 'see food' diet.
Take the surplus food away and I'll only eat what's on my plate, nothing more.

Bob Dylan selling his entire music catalog...

I had no reason to question why Guns N' Roses covered music from other artists. I've always hear the original composer gets 50% of the royalties. I blogged about this before as music of the 50's often were covered many times by lots of no-name artists looking for exposure.

It was just a boost as we already know guns N' Roses. Last year, I heard on my local classic rock station they were asked by Dylan to record the song as he was broke and needed some royalty money.

Last week, it was reported Bob Dylan sold his song catalog to Universal Media Group to an undisclosed amount. People on the grapevine are saying it's around $300 million.

Fuddy Duddy Daddy...

I was in Junior High attending a school dance and hanging out with friends. We were noticing parents dropping their children when I spotted a really pretty girl and what appeared to be her grandparents waving goodbye. They said "have a good time" and told her what time they would return to pick her up.
Since I didn't know the girl, I asked my friend if he knew her. His answer was yes, she's in his homeroom class and her parents were really strict. Wondering, I asked "Is that why the grandparents dropped her off?" My friend said those ARE her parents. He also knew the girl was self conscious about it. She was very embarrassed when they came to the first patent teacher meeting and all the other kids had younger parents.

I had a friend in the same position. He was an only child who came along late in the marriage. His father was already retired when he was in Junior High.

Somewhere along the way, I heard the phrase Fuddy Duddy Daddy that described a really old father to a young son. That saying stuck with me.

A coworker who is 20 years younger than me once called me 'Gramps' and I replied "Are you talking to me?" It's funny, as he relies on me to do some computerized design drawings... because he can't. The sad part is his father passed away last week. He was in a nursing home with advanced stage Alzheimer's and contacted COVID-19. Either way, his fathers days were numbered.

Over the years, I've been asked why I didn't have children of my own...
Simple answer... I didn't want to be a Fuddy Duddy Daddy!
