I like the song(s) but I don't care for the artist(s)

There are loads of great songs performed by less-than great artists when judged solely by their personalities or lifestyle.

I'm starting off with David Lee Roth, the on and off front man for the mega rockers Van Halen.
David would walk in front of (upstaging) other members during interviews. Talk about a big ego... Like a rock star with a cocaine high. He was always over the top and extremely annoying. His attempt of a solo career had lots of highs but mostly lows. His voice wasn't lacking, I'll guess it's probably due to his personality.

Teamed up with Steve Vai on guitar, this song rocks!

On the rag...

Breaking News: Amid rising costs and material shortages, the latest in the never ending strain on consumers has a break in the supply chain of what normally is considered female sanitary protection. Yeah, who would have thought this could have happened?
I see many of you are grasping at straws and at your wits end over the House Committee Investigations, while some are foaming at the mouth trying to come up with any plausible (or totally from another planet) reasons to debunk the results of the 2020 election, the others are literally 'on the rag' about this situation.

Oh, it's so sad...
I feel for ya!

The tampon shortage is partly because there is a cotton shortage.
Probably like the toiled paper shortage, hoarding is also causing the tampon shortage.

Marjorie Taylor Greene is blaming transsexual men for the tampon shortage.

A lawyer who has been barred...

I guess it's technically correct that a lawyer who has been barred by having their license suspended, is still a lawyer. If they are high-profile, I suppose they could hire a lawyer in good standing as a puppet and pull strings to get what they cannot legally do.

Rudolph W. Giuliani (pronounced Juliani) is in a pile of poo right now, suspended from practicing law because he made false claims trying to get courts to overturn Trump's loss. This happened last June.

The original story appeared in the Los Angeles Times and picked up on Yahoo Finance.
The top reader comment:
"What's really funny is Rudy believing Trump was actually going to pay him."
99 thumbs up and 1 thumbs down.
Response to the first reply:
"That thing about the definition of insanity. No one else got paid but Rudy thought he would."

I guess all those years of friendship and business together Rudy thought he wouldn't be like the others.

Cliff diving...

A horrible story about a 31-year old Dutch man on vacation in Spain decides to do a cliff diving stunt while his wife captures the video event in a nearby boat.
This happens at the Malgrats Islands on Thursday afternoon. The man strikes the side of the cliff on the way down that renders him unconscious where he drowns. Autopsy reveals he suffered a broken hip and arm.
Sadly the wife and son both witnessed the event.

White guys playing da Blues...

Using my 60 days of free Satellite Radio has me listing to music I never heard before.
They advertised a B.B. King special so I thought I would listen for a while. The channel is blues... the real stuff.
I grew up on British Blues as they had a fascination for American Blues with some shared licks, but a different vibe.

The announcer played a song by Robin Trower... yeah, the same guy who mimicked Hendrix.

It was blues, but not as bluesy as I expected.

chocotized...

News today that 2 employees of the Mars Wrigley factory in Pennsylvania fell into the chocolate tank and emergency crews had to cut a hole in the side of the tank to get them out.
One of the workers had to be airlifted to the hospital.
Inquiring minds want to know... how did they get into the tank?
Details are sketchy.

I'm looking for some change...

More than 2 years ago I moved into a condo and I'm looking to make some aesthetic changes in the courtyard appearance. Again. When I first moved in, the 'garden' near the mailboxes had a flat area 6 feet by 10 feet filled with mulch. There were some shrubs along the back wall, but nothing along the walkway.

Asking first, the president of the association gave me to okay to plant some things as long as I maintained it. No problem. I selected some small shrubs that I've seen line the walkways to a few gated communities. It's year round, slow growing and survives direct sunlight to shaded areas. Placed about 18" apart, I allowed for a few years of growth before the will need to be thinned.

All my gardening tools remained with the house I sold a few years ago. All I had was a floor scraper and trowel. I'll make-do with that. After clearing back the mulch, I dug some holes about 6" by 6" and loosely placed the potted plants to confirm they were in the right spot. It was done on a Saturday morning and the project took a few hours. Lots of people came by checking mail and to make comments... I guess they never experienced someone taking an interest in their 'front yard' so most of the comments were in praise for adding some charm to the walkway. Two woman complained. One must have been denied her suggestion at an association meeting as she didn't believe I had approval from the condo president. The other bitched about the purple flowers I used to fill-in the perimeter. Something like they would outgrown the entire garden.

More than a year ago, one of the palm trees died and it appeared that nothing was going to be done. To my surprise the landscaping company removed it and filled the area with sod. The color of the new grass was 10 shades darker than the original lawn. I bought a bag of fertilizer and threw handfuls around the garden. It's been 2 weeks and with all the rain this month, the old lawn has started to darken and look more like the new stuff.

My other plan will require approval of the association as the end of the paved walkway that joins the asphalt parking lot has some bare areas and the rain washes the soil into the parking lot. I'll run some plastic retainer the keep the grass edge from running out.

10 minutes a week pulling weeds and the change is already noticeable. My neighbor saw me making adjustments this morning and ask why... it's my front yard and I want it to look nice, that's why.

Southern Rock...

For some unknown reason, I didn't develop a taste for Southern Rock in the 70's.
I did get to see the Allman Brothers Band in 1971... up close and they were terrific.
Extended jams did get boring, but it's the easiest way to make 5 songs last a one-hour set.

My favorite Allman Brothers song is (the 5 minute version of) Whipping Post.
The extended version is monotonous for my ears.
In this song, the Southern Rock label is shared with Blues Rock.

Excessive packaging... another pet peeve of mine!

This one is easy to follow.
Packages designed in such a way the product often breaks getting out of the box/wrapping.
I understand the purpose of tamper-proof packaging, but some products need special tools to get them out of their protective, heat fused blister or clam-shell packing.

I'm opening a pack of pens that required scissors to get them out.

Frits?

Yeah, they're called frits. The perimeter of a car windshield (windscreen if you are in England) has a series of graduated dots that transition into solid black. The graphic pattern is enamel that is baked to the glass and used as a primer to hold the windshield to the adhesive that secures it to the frame of the car.
Primer is part of the function as the graduated pattern hides the glue line of the adhesive making a nice aesthetic finishing touch.

Last year I had a cracked windshield (probably from a stone on the highway) and the insurance company offered me an aftermarket windshield that was readily available, or an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) from Toyota that would take a few days to get. Since the crack wasn't through the glass safety laminate and I had time, I opted for the OEM glass and the frits were the same.

3-4 days of solid rain...

The first storm of the season crept up from Mexico Yucatan Peninsula into the Gulf of Mexico and is dragging itself across Florida, from Orlando downward.
With 40 mph wind gusts moving Northeast at 18 miles per hour we're into the 2nd day of non-stop rain that started Thursday night.
Usually storms come into Florida heading Northwest where the bulk of the rain is out in the ocean. This one is dumping rain all across the Caribbean.

This is a steady rain and the parking lot drainage is good.

I lost a car 2 years ago when in less than 4 hours more than a foot of rain soaked the area. This was more than the storm drains could take away and the main road across my community flooded. Some of the lower areas of the road had water up to my knees.

I lost a car from that flood as water soaked into the door gaskets and filled the floorboard. I tried to dry it with towels but it was too far gone. Insurance wrote off the car and I had to take a loss.

Should it happen again, we are instructed to park a block away on higher ground near the clubhouse.

The link is an active map from the National Weather Center and updates every few hours. By tomorrow, I expect the storm to have moved into the Atlantic Ocean and things will begin to dry out.

False Flag...

There are a few meanings/definitions for false flag.
One is a flag flown to disguise the nationality or affiliation of a vessel, vehicle, or base of operations. For example if a pirate ship flies the flag of one country and attacks the vessels of another country, there is a good chance that the country being attacked will retaliate and attack the innocent country who's flag was being flown.

90 years ago, the German parliament building was burned down due to arson. Immediately after, the Nazis passed a piece of legislation called "decree for the protection of state and people" giving them total police state control over the people.
The fires were blamed on Hitler's political rivals, however historians believe that is was actually the Nazi party who started the fire in a plot to control the masses through fear.

In 1939, Hitler needed a reason to attack Poland and staged a false flag by dressing German troops in Polish uniforms pretending to attack a German radio station near the border. He used concentration camp inmates who had been previously shot and dressed them in German uniforms, leaving them at the station to make it appear they were attacked by the Poles. This created the excuse for Germany to start WWII.

False flag operations can be done on air, land or on the sea and do not have to be military operations, but can be business dirty tricks or political scams.
