Just a short blog

While Republicans are focused on 2020, Democrats are still trying to win 2016.

Nancy Pelosi often begins her speeches with 'Most Americans agree....'
This American agrees with nothing Nancy Pelosi has to offer.

Remember, conservatism is based on facts, logic, and reality. Liberalism is based on theory, feelings, and fantasy.

Cheers to Michael Collins

“Not since Adam has any human known such solitude as Mike Collins.”

July 20, 1969. As 500,000 million people watched from the Earth and two others were about to take the first steps on the moon, Michael Collins was all alone.

As the Command Module Pilot of Apollo 11, Collins orbited above the lunar surface when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked into the history books and the collective memory of our nation’s Trivial Pursuit enthusiasts.

Do a search for “Michael Collins” and you’ll find articles that use phrases like “Forgotten Astronaut,” “The Other Astronaut,” and similar slights.

Fortunately, we found one amateur mixologist who is attempting to immortalize Collins in cocktail form with a play on a traditional Tom Collins. For your drinking pleasure, we present:

The Forgotten Astronaut Cocktail
2 oz London dry gin
1 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
1/4 oz Demerara syrup
And a bar spoon of tart cherry jelly
Shake. Pour over ice in a Collins glass top off with seltzer.

Cheers to you, Michael Collins.

Thanks to Max Reid for the out-of-this-world cocktail.

Body Of Frozen Stowaway On Airplane Falls 3,500 Feet And Almost Lands On Sunbather

John Baldock got lucky. Very lucky.

Baldock, who has a master's degree in engineering from Oxford University, was just chilling in the garden of a $3 million home outside London when he heard a thud.

"There was an almighty bang. At first I thought it was some scaffolding falling down and thought nothing more about it," one of Baldock's neighbors told the Daily Mail.

But it wasn't. It was the sound of a frozen body hitting the ground after falling from 3,500 feet.

"The corpse fell to the ground as the nine-hour flight from Nairobi approached London Heathrow Airport and opened its landing gear on Sunday afternoon," the Mail wrote.

Police later said the victim was likely a stowaway who had hidden inside the landing gear of a Kenya Airways flight that landed at Heathrow, about 10 miles from the house where his body was found. Upon inspection, food and drinking water was found within the wheel well.

The body created a huge crater in the lawn and smashed two concrete paving slabs.

Baldock was "very shaken" by the incident, the Mail said, noting that there was "blood all over the walls of the garden." A neighbor gave a first-hand account.

My husband decided to see what was going on and went upstairs to take a look. He was obviously quite shocked and went out into the street where my neighbour was standing on the phone to the police.

He was really shaken up. He'd been in the garden when it happened and the body must have landed so close to where he was.

My husband came back in and I asked him what was going on and he said "haven't you seen the man? The man who fell from the sky?"

I wondered what he was talking about and went up to see for myself and there in the middle of the lawn was a body of a man.

The Kenya Airports Authority said it was investigating the incident.

"We have been informed by authorities in London that on June 30th at approximately 1541hrs (UK Time) a body of a yet to be identified male stowaway was discovered in South London. The body was traced to the undercarriage of KQ flight 100 that departed from JKIA," the authority wrote on Twitter.

Remember when.......

.............Tlaib infamously stated of Trump on her first night as a member of Congress, “We’re gonna go in there and we’re gonna impeach the mother***er.” ???????????????????

.............Ocasio-Cortez has called for the elimination of the Department of Homeland Security, which includes Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), as well as claimed that members of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) were trying to sabotage “my account” of what transpires at the border; Omar has said of immigration agencies, “We should be having a conversation about eliminating their existence." ??????????????????

.................. Pressley has openly called for Trump’s impeachment; ?????????????

.....................Tlaib and Omar have defended rocket attacks launched on Israel by Hamas terrorists in Gaza. Tlaib has lied about Jewish history in order to delegitimize the state of Israel. Ocasio-Cortez has even been slammed by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo for her likening the situation at the southern border to the infamous concentration camps where Nazis killed millions of Jews. ??????????????

Who cares what President Trump says about these cockroaches? I surely don't

Quotes and Lines
“A town so boring the tide went out and never came back in.”

“The last days of the newspapers seem to be rushing towards us with frightening speed.”

“What are you up to? News about you is as scarce as hen’s teeth. Normally, I don’t use this phrase, but we happen to have a hen in our backyard and she has only one tooth. I’m sure you’re familiar with the rest-‘The whole tooth, and nothing but the tooth.’”

“…when I say alone, I mean no agents, no family, no one but you two-sit down alone, and talk it out.”

“It isn’t for the dead I grieve,
It’s for the living whom the dead bereave.”

“…always live at the best hotel in town-but in the cheapest room. This is much better than the best room in a cheap hotel, for it gives you prestige and distinction.”

“Look, I’ve seen some of the next generation—perhaps it’s just as well if the whole thing ends right here.”

“I don’t quite know why I remained honest for I spring from a long line of thieves. I guess I was just lucky.”

“‘Groucho, every word I said was the God’s honest truth.’ This, of course, was a lie, but since I was getting a free lunch I was disinclined to argue with him.”

“Regards, affection, admiration and, if you want to toss in a few superlatives of your own, I have no objection.”

“I’m goggle-eyed from watching the convention. Until TV, nobody knew the caliber of clowns governing the country.”

“… since I read you religiously (that means I wear a hat when perusing your column)…”

“Thanks for your piece on dirty comedians. It blew a fresh breeze across a smutty section of America.

Freedom of speech is one thing, but these gents are overdoing it. And when I say “gents,” this is where most of them should be doing their act.”

However, if there is any ill feeling or bitterness between you, it will eventually affect your work. If that feeling does exist, sit down calmly together, alone—when I say alone, I mean no agents, no family, no one but you two-sit down alone, and talk it out.

“I don’t quote know why I remained honest for I spring from a long line of thieves. I guess I was just lucky.”

U.S. Coast Guard Leaps Aboard Moving Narco-Submarine in Dramatic Drug Bust

The video shows members of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Munro first screaming imperceptibly at an unidentified moving object in the Eastern Pacific Ocean.

Then, as the Coast Guard nears the half-submerged moving vessel two of its team can be seen as jumping onto the top of what is now clearly a submarine.

Driving the cocaine-filled vessel were five suspected drug smugglers.

These self-propelled drug-smuggling submarines are nicknamed "narco-subs" and have been known to be used by cartels and traffickers for smuggling drugs across borders.

This operation took place on June 18 and intercepted one of 14 drug-smuggling vessels off the coasts of Mexico and Central and South America. The Cutter Munro is one of three vessels to have made the interceptions between May and June of this year.

Hatred of Trump Rooted in ‘Contempt’ for ‘Regular American People’

Antipathy towards President Donald Trump across the news media is rooted in a broader “contempt” of “regular American people,” determined Charles Hurt, Washington Times opinion editor and Breitbart News columnist, offering his remarks in a Monday interview on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow.
“Donald Trump represents all of these Americans that I grew up with, and that I live with, and that I know,” said Hurt, reflecting on his upbringing. “This hot visceral contempt that these people have in the media for Donald Trump is not about Donald Trump,” said Hurt, reflecting. “They hate these people that I know. They hate these people that I live with and that I grew up with.”

Left-wing and partisan Democrats news media figures harbor “contempt for Americans who work every day, provide for their families every day, help out their neighbors every single day, and who go to church,” added Hurt. “You can feel their contempt for these people, and you can sense it in everything they do.”

Hurt expressed his support for representative government in America. “My faith, my belief is in regular American people,” he declared. Democrats and the broader left, noted Hurt, reject the premise of government legitimacy being predicated on consent from the governed. “I have no qualms whatsoever about leaving the American people in charge, and that’s what these people want to undo,” he added. “They want to undo that.”

“Regular American people the only reason America is what it is,” determined Hurt.

The Democrat Party’s leadership stands opposed to America’s founding and core principles, said Hurt. “They hate America. They hate what it stands for.”

Who Really Believes Biden Can Beat Trump?

“Good Ole Joe” isn’t what he used to be, and probably never was.

During the 2008 presidential campaign, Barack Obama famously became so frustrated by his running mate’s logorrhea that he asked an aide, “How many times is Biden going to say something stupid?” According to authors Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, the VP’s stock had dropped so low by late 2011 that the Obama reelection team considered replacing Biden with Hillary Clinton on the 2012 ticket. And, as his busing blunder clearly demonstrated, Biden still has the old gift for gaffes. According to a new Washington Post-ABC poll, however, if the 2020 election were held today, Biden would beat President Trump by 10 points.

If this inspires skepticism, it won’t be ameliorated by the finding in the same survey that Trump’s approval rating is at the highest point of his presidency. The new poll found that 47 percent of registered voters say they approve of Trump compared to 42 percent in April. Meanwhile, Biden’s lead among the contenders for the Democratic presidential nomination is dwindling. According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll, for example, Biden’s support has slipped from 30 to 22 percent. This is obviously the result of his flaccid response to the attack leveled on him by Kamala Harris during the June 27 Dem debate. Good Ole Joe just isn’t a brawler.

The former VP has since tried to regain the momentum he lost during that debate, but he has inevitably continued to indulge his affinity for imprudent remarks. He struck again during his recent CNN interview, when asked by Chris Cuomo if his health-care plan would include the reinstatement of Obamacare’s fine for failing to buy health insurance. Biden brayed, “Yes, I’d bring back the individual mandate.” This answer secures Biden a place in history alongside such political virtuosos as Walter Mondale, who promised to raise taxes during the 1984 election, and Hillary Clinton, whose 2016 strategy included insulting 30 million voters.

The mandate was the most reviled of Obamacare’s provisions. The concept was so politically toxic in 2008 that Biden opposed the idea and Obama repeatedly denounced it. Both executed post-election pirouettes on the issue, of course, which contributed to the subsequent decimation of the Democrats at the ballot box in 2010 and 2014. The mandate won’t be any more popular this time around. Trump will doubtless be delighted to call Biden out on his pledge to reinstate it. And, if Biden can’t handle Harris in a debate, Trump will crush him. This brings us to his excuses for the Harris debacle, as he phrased them in the CNN interview:

CUOMO: Here’s the tough question for Democrats, they need a warrior, OK, because not to aggrandize, not to lionize, but this president knows how to fight in the ring one on one. Kamala Harris is friendly fire … How can Democrats have confidence that you can take the biggest and the baddest when you’re having trouble sparring in-party?

BIDEN: I don’t think I’m having trouble sparring; it’s how you want to spar. Look, I’m the guy at the time everybody talks about things that have changed. I took on same-sex marriage. I took on a whole range of issues … I’m — this is ironic, I’ve never been accused of being not being able to spar. I’ve been accused of being too aggressive.

Trump gets highest job approval rating of presidency: Poll

President Trump scored the highest approval rating he has ever gotten in office, according to a newly released poll.

Forty-four percent of Americans approve of Trump's performance in the latest ABC News/Washington Post survey, two points higher than his previous peak early in his presidency.

Despite the upswing, more people still disapprove of Trump's job performance. He polls at 53% in this regard and two and a half years of a majority disapproval is a record for any president in modern polling.

A majority of independents disapprove of Trump's job performance. Overall, 34% approve of Trump's job performance while 54% disapprove.

One of Trump's strengths comes in his handling of the economy, for which 51% people approve. Negative opinions prevail for his temperament and handling of other issues, including taxes.

Overall support for impeaching Trump is 37%, the same as it was in April.

The poll, produced by Langer Research Associates, was conducted by landline and cellular telephone from June 28 to July 1 in English and Spanish. The sample size of 1,008 adults and the survey has a margin of sampling error of 3.5 percentage points.

A Liberal's paradise

“A liberal’s paradise" would be a place where everybody has

.. guaranteed employment,
.. free comprehensive healthcare,
.. free education,
.. free food,
.. free housing,
.. free clothing
.. free utilities
.. and only law enforcement has guns.

And believe it or not, such a place does indeed already exist in the USA:

It's called Prison
