"What are you getting me for Christmas?"

Last week, a few coworkers and myself were talking Christmas present shopping. Suddenly, A turns to me and asks "What are you getting me for Christmas this year?".. It caught me completely off guard, so I replied "What would you like?"

"Oh, nothing like super fancy... A pizza, some candy.. Things like that."

I have recently bought a huge bag of gingerbread cookies, that I was gonna enjoy during the weekend, so I acted fast. I told her "I'll bring you your gift on Monday- Unwrapped, though".

So today, I brought her the gingerbread cookies. I wasn't sure if she was a fan of them, but I just decided to go for it, and present them to her.

When I did, her eyes lid up and she went "Yaay! I LOVE these!", so you could say, that I scored points there! Now I am just hoping she's not gonna eat them all at once. She probably will, though.

Who would have thought that gingerbread cookies were the way into A's pants? How fortunate to have stumbled upon this relatively inexpensive way to win her affection. Strike while the iron is hot, show her how the cookies crumble. banana
So, she actually suggested that you get her a XMas gift.
You told her that you would give her the gift on a certain day.
You met on that day and lit up her eyes with that gift and.....
.... she gave you nothing ? dunno

If I had the gall to ask a gal for a XMas gift and she told me she would
give it to me on a certain day, I sure would have a gift in my pocket
for her, in case she did give me a gift that day.

I hope it works out for you.
But be careful you are not beginning another using relationship.
If someone asked me to give them a present, they would be the very last person that would get one very mad
JimNastics - I gave her the gift when I left for my lunch break. We didn't meet up at a coffee bar or anything
I would be cautious. Usually those who randomly ask for things tend to be users. Be careful.
Its better to give then to receive..u did well shows you are thoughtful.heart wings
I think I would be tempted to throw caution to the wind if all that was at stake were a few gingerbread cookies. pizza pizza pizza pizza pointing cookies
P - I don't fully understand why you thought the location was important. You were able to hand over the gift to her at (whatever) location. Are you suggesting that her gift to you awaited you in the parking lot with a huge bow on the hood ? laugh

Seriously, I don't understand your answer to me. I think Track & I both don't want to see you used (again). H is right to point out that it's only cookies. But I advise you not to create another pattern of giving without it being a mutual situation. Users pick up on those who they can use, and perpetuate the pattern to their benefit.
If she asks you for something else that you have to buy, act surprised and state that you are still waiting for your XMas gift from her, Afterall friendship is a 2 way street, or it isn't really friendship. peace
Listen to Jim going on and on about some cookies Smh. I'm with you on this one. She probably asked about her gift just to see what your reaction would be. A little innocent " test" to see what she means to you, that's all. That was thoughtful of youthumbs up
mmmmhmmm Something that he loves I guess, buying a ticket for two
we both love adventures...somewhere we both dream to bewine
Track - It was said with a smile and a laugh, so I know she was joking. I just decided to make the joke come true.

Jim - Your original reply to me, suggested that A and I met up somewhere after work, so I just wanted to clarify it all :)

Loh - Indeed. I just wanted to do something Nice, and it's blown up into "she's using you. Beware". She's not using me laugh. And I'm not using her
I never said "after work", nor mentioned any location. dunno
I understand what Jim said and I would probably react more like him, however I'm a big fan of random acts of kindness, so if you just did that straight from your heart expecting nothing in return, I bow to you.
