Our continued economic expansion wouldn't be possible without more immigration. Our hospitals and hotels couldn't operate without them. Alongside economic immigration we have to take in our fair share of asylum seekers. The government hasn't handled this well. I think it's crazy to put them in the middle of nowhere where they have nothing to do. They should be in urban centres only, where they have access to things like parks and libraries. Officials need to work with communities and listen to their concerns but nobody should have a veto about who moves into their area.
My sister took in a Ukrainian woman last year, that might be what you're thinking of.
If Ireland is not full, had the proper facilities to accommodate then why steal Tipperary's one and only hotel to shelter migrants. Why take nursing home projects and refurnish into sleeping accommodation? respite facilities are now next to zero for our most vulnerable, which is not down to lack of staff alone.

I do believe that you, Irish people need to unite as a Nation, Irish culture first. No political or religious issues should not intervene this process. It will help to fight for Ireland as a country, to be free completely.

It's payback time, that's how it works, when you need help you get it and when you are in a position to give it back you do so. At least that's the honourable thing to do. There are an awful lot of short memories in this country it seems.

Sweden is overrun by immigrants and is amidst a gang war. They are en route to becoming the capital of gun crimes in Europe, while less than a decade ago, they were amongst the safest countries in Europe. Does this mean the end of Sweden's famous middle way?

I wasn't throwing a punch at my own, I was that drunk noisy student myself a long time ago, it's part of the growing up process.
There are no 'lies' in anything I've said, there are differences of opinion about whether something is a good idea or a bad idea but everything I've mentioned is factual, the fact that you ignore them doesn't make them any less factual.
I think you are one of those people who prefers to be surrounded by people who are just like you, nothing wrong with that either but that's not the way the world works, not anymore.

People EVERYWHERE are suffering. I have lived through a war,seen devastation and it's rearing its ugly head yet again. Worrying about refugees ,however trying to anyone not just the Irish, is a drop in the ocean at this precise moment in time.
World War One was instigated by the assassination of just one man,yet countries are killing each other by the thousands here in 2024.We are in a changing world and much of it is not for the good of all.
So whilst I have empathy for what is taking place I also am looking at the bigger picture and I don't like what I see.

Obviously I assumed that you are associated with #2.
Unfortunately there are many of these #2's around and it's through them that this globe is going down the toilet.
Failing to acknowledge real problems and not finding viable solutions won't fix this world from its current situation.
Why not rather ask yourself WHY are the majority of these people flooding Europe?

I actually have no political preference and just draw my opinions from what I feel personally about any given situation.
I've already stated that I don't agree with the influx of refugees ,something that some posters overlook seeking their own agenda.
I have just posted on another blog re the realities of the World today and in my humble opinion all I can see is derision and hate from many of our so called political leaders , and the future is pretty grim for ALL of us .
My age has nothing to do with how I personally see society ,just makes me a tad more perceptive. Having lived through one war,I hope to pass peacefully before we go into another one.

Everyone who enters a country as an immigrant must obey the rules and law of country where they want to live. But for this to happen country needs to have those rules and laws to protect native population first. The only law I see right now, everywhere in a World everyone needs to be politically correct.
If anyone who wants to help people not to immigrate. Send help in their own countries, build back what was destroyed. Stop steal their Natural resources. And UK is guilty for this.

Yes we do set out with good intentions re who we vote for,but sometimes the losers of the poll can cause just as much destruction.
