Wedding Party’s Guest

Have received too many invitations for wedding receptions this year. Some were too far to attend, so I just asked friends to pass the wedding gifts. But for the ones were held nearby, I cannot be excused without being rude.

I didn’t like attending wedding reception. It’s too much time consuming. As a big girl, you didn’t want to look like an old hag in the party. You wanted to be ‘prettier’ even you weren’t. And if you didn’t have time nor budget to go to a beauty salon or make up artist, you had to doll up yourself. Of course, the result wouldn’t as perfect as it’s done by the professional.

Woke up late this morning as it was weekend. I wasn’t supposed to wake up early on weekends. This time, I had to as I was invited to my colleague’s wedding party. And I had only 30 minutes left or I would be late. Right, me, Miss Late.

Being presentable when you were such in a hurry, wouldn’t work. Couldn’t be perfect, but passable was justified. Had the check list running on my head:
? Hair
? Dress
? Makeup
? shoes

Just realised that I forgot to apply parfum when I was already on the way to the reception. Uh uh. Hope I didn’t sweat too much.

I came in the right time, the holy matrimony service just finished. After congratulating the bride and bridegroom, we flocked to the refreshment table. The food was so so, but it was kind of expected if you held your party at the hotel. Couldn’t remember where I had delicious meal during a wedding reception in a hotel.

Time to mingle around, thankfully I knew quite a lot of people in the reception area, not like the other party I attended before. We chatted until the new couple approached us. Time for photo op! Oops, my lipstick might be smudged.

I envied the bride’s make up. It’s so natural. Should ask her who her make up artis . The groom was better in person than in photo. Congratulations to you both!

For most of my friends have left the reception, I excused myself too. Chatting with lots of people drained my energy, especially if there were lots of strangers. Was happy to be in the reception as to meet people, just not too much, please. And I truly don’t mind attending the Royal Wedding. Don’t forget to send me the invitation, will ya. Ha ha!
