I did survive

(to be sung to the tune of Gloria Gayner's 'I will survive'.)

At first I was somewhat afraid, but not petrified uh oh
Kept worrying about my house and my cars on the side
And then I spent the night thinking how Irene might do me wrong
The wind & rain grew stronger, and trees were blown along

Now morning is back, and I checked out this space
I just walked the property, with no sad look upon my face grin
I should've turned on the sump pump in the basement, that was key doh
If I'd have known for just one second the water would have flooded me. crying

But I went out, walked right out the front door,
there was no damage to the roof nor to the floor. thumbs up
Irene tried to damage me with her windy & wet good-bye, wave
She slayed 12 others who laid down and died. sad flower

Oh, no not I, scold I did survive, applause
Oh, as long as I escape those falling trees, uh oh I know I'll stay alive
I've got the rest of my life to live, I've got all my love to give teddybear
And I, did survive, I did survive....Hey, hey applause

Jim, As you found out they are nothing to take lightly, however they somehow don't measure up to the newscast or the weather services tragedy of events . You now will hear all the destruction that it caused, but this gloom and doom is mostly to get federal relief money for the state . Some things never change .
I'm happy to report that the "pool" is now down to about 3 inches. laugh
The sump pump seems to be humming along nicely. applause

Hi Aswina wave Yes, I am also very happy I did survive.
The brunt of the storm was about 11 pm to about 6 am.
So, I slept through a lot of the worse of it. blushing
I think I finally fell asleep around 2 am. sleep

Psych - I THINK I survived it. confused
This COULD all be a dream though. laugh

Frank - This was the worse hurricane in the history of NJ.
I do think NY got hit worse back in the 1800's and perhaps back on the 1940's, I'm not sure. Nonetheless, there is a LOT of flooding. Several rivers are at record highs.
I don't know what Irene "intended", but she claimed 12 lives. sad flower
That's more than evil enough in my book.
more than a million people are without power.
There will be $ billions in damages
and thousands were emergency evacuated by life rafts.
Many were relocated to local schools.

I'm USED to communicating with Brits & Aussies on the internet
and I still find the term funny.

However, some of the guys on my baseball or softball teams with much less internet experience would be likely to punch a guy who called them "mate" laugh
