Guess what I saw !
While taking a stroll around a lake today,I saw something I have never seen before.
Indeed, I didn't even know what it was.
I took a bunch of pictures of it,
because I figure that I'll likely never see one again.
I looked it up and NOW know what it is.
Any guesses, as to what I saw ?
I'll post the answer, after 10 people guess.

I like to look at the artists conception in detail. For example: Skin and color of a reptile. 3 toes on each foot. Human-like teeth. Eyes in front of the face. A tail as long as the dogs body! And on and on. But who cares? Like I said, hilarious!!
I have NO CLUE.
S - I've never seen you before now.
D - nope it wasn't you. I don't think you were even in Florida today.
M - Um... I've never been married and if I was,
wouldn't I have seen her before ?
decided it was time to attack his uncle (me) with a lazer gun.
So, I had to address that pronto.
What I saw was a limpkin.
They are a long legged wader somewhat similar to an egret or heron, and are little smaller than a goose and quite a bit bigger than a duck.
This is not my photo. It's off photobucket.
I took about 100 photos of the one I saw,
because I figured I may never see one again.

But birds are cool too! I watch them when I am fishing!
I can dig it!!! Gulls are definitely funny and neat to watch. Makes you think if we are humans are really that intelligent! Or smarter than any animal for that matter. I just don't like the survival fo the fittest thing!
Many animals have much more heightened sensitivity to
smell, sight, touch and taste. Certain animals have other senses (i.e. electrical) that we don't even have.
If you consider intelligence to be how we are aware of our surroundings and can utilize that, we often don't measure up to animals. We human centrics tend to think our engineering is superior and thus, we are more intelligent. But, the things we engineer may eventually destroy us. How intelligent is that ?
There's no question that humans currently dominate the earth....or do ants ? But, dinosauers did at one time. Perhaps blue-green algae did before that. Survival of the fit (not the fittest) is real. Part of that, is adaption to the ever changing (long term) environment.
Will there be a future time when another organism becomes the dominate species, either because they are more adaptable, or because we eliminate ourselves from the planet with pollution, or explosive devices ?
Like I said, I never saw one before. I didn't know what it was.
looking forward to seeing more pics
of them when you post them....
