HUMAN RIGHTS-Economic, Social and Cultural
In your opinion, are there really victims of these rights? Who are they and why? How so?When the United Nation set up the provisions of Human Rights, which includes but not limited to SOCIAL, ECONOMIC AND CULTURAL RIGHTS, it aimed to achieve that all people in the world would be guaranteed of these rights, regardless of sex, race, religion and or where you live. These rights are founded on a belief that we can enjoy our rights, our freedoms, and economic justice all at the same time.
If this goal was established for the said purpose under the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, how have we progressed or what is the status at the moment? Forty three years from its first Convention (1966) presenting the following reports:
International Convention on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights
New York, 1966
Core Treaties
•a fifth of the developing world's population goes hungry every night
•a quarter lacks access to even a basic necessity like safe drinking water, and
•a third lives in a state of abject poverty at such a margin of human existence that words simply fail to describe it
•well over a billion people suffer from extreme poverty, homelessness, hunger/malnutrition, and chronic ill-health
•more than a billion and a half people don't have clean water to drink, or basic sanitation facilities
•more than a billion adults cannot read or write
•more than 500 million children cannot get even a primary education
My question to us all are: Based on these appalling and sickening statistics, have we ever progressed? Or is there any improvement that we are aware of? Did it get worse? Why? Better yet, do you feel that we are indeed aware of the existence of these problems? What can we do about it?
I understand this is an international setting so I personally feel that we can speak about any crucial information inherent to our own country from individual to national level. Yet that doesn't limit our opinions on what we think globally...since or course, this is an international site after all..
Thank you so much and all your contributions and opinions or comments are highly appreciated and perhaps make a specific suggestion as to what we can do, or any organization can do.
The other reason I am so interested to present this to us is because I am sure it weighs a very remarkable impact to all of us as citizens of the world. That is if we truly care about our under privileged brothers and sisters. Or do we really?

Anyways, in reality the disparity of the cases against inequality in income is very high between man and woman. US as the worst in the order of the Income Inequality. Your Country and Australia isn't really that bad at all compared to us.
On your tax bracket, I'm not sure if it is progressive like you do but once you reach in the seven figures, here in my country then you are at the 40 percent. If it is the same as yours that would mean that a little portion of that goes to your retirement. For us here you can retire at anytime but your SS pension only takes place when you are 62.
But you can also find out the allotment where all your taxes go to. Infrastructure and social services are the biggest chunk of this budget..
How are you my dear. Have you figured out our itinerary in India?
Thanks and when you can find some enlightening info please let us all know..I am aware your Human Services in your country is very transparent in their operation specially in the accommodation of the Asylum seekers. They live for free. They are provided for everything, house, food, money and all the allowance they need. I personally know some of them.
Thanks mi amigo.
Good morning...off nights...I am tired but glad the shift is done!!...being taxed at my bracket and living in Vancouver is quite expensive...and I am wondering why we pay so much when I hear children in my province are far from taken care of...kind of makes you think...so now I have to think about doing a budget for myself...to have a vacation...so here I go into savings mode...have a good day and hope things are well...
Well dear, go on and rest as your job I am sure is so physical sometimes. I would have been a doctor, my dear, but can't stand blood..I earned most of my education on scholarship and I could have chosen that but went to education instead, which is a very fulfilling job considering the changes made through the effort of learning among the youths, the true pillars of tomorrow. Or the only hope of the land to make it better..
I would love a modern day robin hood to come along to take from the rich to give to the poor and needy.
Oil is a valuable commodity and billions of pounds of tax payers money was wasted on an illegal war in Iraq not to mention all the innocent folks who were murdered just, so corrupted greedy politicians could get their hands on the oil.
The sad truth is that the rich keep on getting richer and the poor keep on getting poorer, because government won’t tax the big companies the way they should, so the poor end up having to pay tax increases year after year to pay for all the public services.
How do we get the corrupted out of power so the poor and needy can get help? I have no idea and too many are corrupt in politics and the evil in the world will remain sadly.
Perhaps, the title or the job itself, does, create the mentality towards anybody who would be running any system.
I wonder..
Arts as in painting, drawing, photography?, or any major?
Everything is an art, really. In fact Bachelors Degrees, are all incorporated in the field of ARTS. So question is what does she truly want to do now and maybe project from there.
As to our blog..yes help me research what is the progressive report that we can quantitatively measure to see progress and or failure?
Thanks my dear
We have food banks here in the UK now and the immigration problem keeps on rising and rising, but because of it one day we will no longer have public services, benefits, council houses and the national health service will become privatised.
Basically the whole economic structure will collapse, because it is over run by immigrants and sadly generations of family's who were born and have lived in the UK for hundreds of years will be seeking asylum elsewhere.
Don't know my friend but I guess, if we all open up borders look like truly impossible..
Sorry didn't mean to use such an unnecessary foul word.
Employers have been employing illegal immigrants on the cheap to avoid taxes for a long time now and the government are accepting of this even though it takes away jobs from UK born citizens.
I am all for helping out the needy, but there comes a time when enough is enough and other country’s need to step in and help with the situation.
France doesn’t want them and created accommodation for immigrant’s right next to the channel tunnel to temp them to go to the UK, but they also assisted them in leaving.
The problem is if you hold your hands out to help too many take advantage, because it’s a free ride for immigrants to live in the UK and unlike Canada you get benefits straight away instead of waiting two years for them.
The lottery makes a fortune and if they were to give 30% of their earnings to poor countries that would be a start and appeals always create revenue.
The most frustrating thing for me is when countries have divisions of religious factions in them and wars are being fought over it instead of being resolved in a civilised way and a large number of immigrants seeking asylum come from those factions, so religion is to blame for a lot of it.
Why can’t people be civilised when it comes to religious beliefs and accept others different religious beliefs? I thought religion was supposed to be a good, positive thing for folks to believe in and gives them a positive out looks on life, but obviously that’s not the case a sadly.
Thank you my friend.
I would like to compliment you on another finely written blog and as always a very fairly run one too.
I can'r really add much more to the debate now and all I will say is that the governments need to wake up and deal with this problem now before things get beyond sorting out.
Take care and equally fine day in the Bay Area my friend.
What wonderful weather it is and may the birds continue singing there beautiful songs
Thanks for reading.
