HUMAN RIGHTS-Economic, Social and Cultural
In your opinion, are there really victims of these rights? Who are they and why? How so?When the United Nation set up the provisions of Human Rights, which includes but not limited to SOCIAL, ECONOMIC AND CULTURAL RIGHTS, it aimed to achieve that all people in the world would be guaranteed of these rights, regardless of sex, race, religion and or where you live. These rights are founded on a belief that we can enjoy our rights, our freedoms, and economic justice all at the same time.
If this goal was established for the said purpose under the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, how have we progressed or what is the status at the moment? Forty three years from its first Convention (1966) presenting the following reports:
International Convention on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights
New York, 1966
Core Treaties
•a fifth of the developing world's population goes hungry every night
•a quarter lacks access to even a basic necessity like safe drinking water, and
•a third lives in a state of abject poverty at such a margin of human existence that words simply fail to describe it
•well over a billion people suffer from extreme poverty, homelessness, hunger/malnutrition, and chronic ill-health
•more than a billion and a half people don't have clean water to drink, or basic sanitation facilities
•more than a billion adults cannot read or write
•more than 500 million children cannot get even a primary education
My question to us all are: Based on these appalling and sickening statistics, have we ever progressed? Or is there any improvement that we are aware of? Did it get worse? Why? Better yet, do you feel that we are indeed aware of the existence of these problems? What can we do about it?
I understand this is an international setting so I personally feel that we can speak about any crucial information inherent to our own country from individual to national level. Yet that doesn't limit our opinions on what we think globally...since or course, this is an international site after all..
Thank you so much and all your contributions and opinions or comments are highly appreciated and perhaps make a specific suggestion as to what we can do, or any organization can do.
The other reason I am so interested to present this to us is because I am sure it weighs a very remarkable impact to all of us as citizens of the world. That is if we truly care about our under privileged brothers and sisters. Or do we really?

One day, we will all answer to any of them somehow and when that happens...the questions will cease...
Thanks Virgo and how is your boat...and how is life treating you. For sure you're not one of the starving many...I might say..
Question, is it the only way? Therefore these problems presented by UN and aims to correct is not achievable? Have they given any programs and methods to implement it?
I don't know mi amigo..
Some people may not like the gifts of modern civilization: way of life of middle, working classes which were often brought to them either by missionaries or war faring foreigners.
if things are to improve it is going to take some major monetry involvement.

So who will create? Who will initiate? How? What a blah blah...
Thanks, Bill Gates, donated 80 million just for the total eradication of POLIO. This will cover, social I guess..
Question: How much are people of the poor country are getting from this?
I have to agree with Funlaugh.
The major problems are wealth distribution and corruption between Governments and Private enterprise.
Here are some statistics all american based but still representative of a global distribution problem.
I find it actually quite scary.
First we have the 99% versus the 1%
And then we can further look at The 1% a wealth gap we can only struggle to perceive.
The problem the UN should be concerned with is how to create systems that stop the Gap getting bigger. And how to stop the influence of private money in public politics.
ie. GM Foods, Arms, Pharmaceuticals.
Having a hard time pulling the attachment.
Got my acceptance?
On the genetically modified foods, I can truly relate to that, the negative effect alone, yet it is done for purposes of easy money for the corporate bigwigs.. On the arms, that is one of the biggest generators of the rich 10 percenters, who invest all their money for the production my friend.
Its a great day here. Sun is shining.
What bothers me truly is the 380 percent gap between the income discrepancy from the ordinary worker to that of the CEO. What a joke,,no wonder, Wells Fargo CEO can have their five houses, in different countries you know, Spielberg has at least 10 I guess, from different countries and Bill Gates, too..but last 2010 the president of Wells Fargo took in a 20 million bonus..I guess, read in on a Wall street newspaper and it brought a big criticism on the entire economic sector, and the public of course. Outrageous Non..
On another note, wow on Fully automated self regulating android (domestic) NOn, what a world..what about the one that makes you read the mind of the others? very scary.
Maybe one of his kids was getting married, and he needed to higher some extra caterers

Next time your in oz drop in for a cuppa and laugh with me at the absurdity of life.
You'll be here for my birthday, I could use a dance partner.
what happen in my country sometimes the opposite with the data statistic. They said Indonesia grow the good & less of hunger or poor people, but if see the fact not what the statistic said.
We still have many problem specially with the health, & education in big city like I'm living now those such like a Gold which mean not cheap
And the government that should be as power people that should be concern to thing about it just think about they own business that make them more rich ( even not all but let say only 10% who really care with this).
The corruption well maybe you already know it, we one of the worst
Wish for the next election for our president will bring new good improvement
I cook a mean chilli lemongrass crab and fish in a lime butter sauce.
You won't go hungry or miss out on tasty food.
In my birth country the Philippines, I think our new guy, the very well known Pacquiao is going to shape ours much for the quenching of our people's clamor for justice and better social services..
I will check how these countries can truly get the benefit allotted if there is an from the UN.
Being September the whale watching seasons on, there's a great catamaran day trip to see the whales close up.
And even the german constitution is a mirror of the Universal Rights, though in everyday life may still missing some application.
How many people live in refugee camps for decades sustained by the UNO?
