Stabbed In The Back?

You cannot be betrayed by your known enemies. You expect them to stab you in the back and therefore you never turn your back towards them. It is natural behavior for them to undermine you.professor

It is those whom you trust that betray you; often a good friend.sigh

Julius Caesar must the ultimate example of a betrayal. First his friend Brutus was one of the main conspirators to his assassination. It is said that when Caesar saw his friend amongst the traitors, he covered his head with his cloak and offered no further resistance.help

And then his other friend, Marc Anthony, proposed to the senate that the assassins be pardoned. The proposal was accepted; a double betrayal.frustrated

Caesars had many enemies and his last words portray that. Et tu, Brute? And you too, Brutus? Better translated as: Even you, Brutus?crying

You are seldom betrayed when you are strong and firmly in the saddle. It is when you are weak with plenty of enemies, when you can least afford it, that people betray you. very mad

So, by the same definitions, can you be betrayed by your lover? Apparently not; you should expect such behaviour because they say all is fair in love and war. rolling on the floor laughing

Hello Cat, betrayal, hmnnn a very dark part of humanity. The scheming ability of someone to destroy and harm those that are gullible and weak. A given and an easy prey, but what hurts most is when we become the victim specially at a time of our weakness, we, that otherwise, think smart enough and will always figure things before they hurt us. Now that is called trust. When we put our guards down believing that those we love most will provide us haven and security are the very ones that harm us, is a betrayal b that suits best our definition. Nothing hurts more than when we least expect to be victimized by them that we love the most.

In reality, this is how life is. Nothing much have changed specially when the need for survival is at stake. Through out history, leaders of countries have applied these schemes for survival and the same thing with individuals. All to be ahead and the need to win. The question is how do we avoid becoming a victim? I believe, to be aware, alert, and not too trusting. Question as much for clarification, and listen to our inner voice without being paranoid.

What a lesson we have to bear. I guess we just need to face the fact that somehow there are many who just want to hurt others.

Great blog Cat.

Hi Lindsy
Human nature is to trust (well, in my view) and when trust is broken too often we lose faith in our fellow man. It will be a sad world when everybody suspect everybody else. But it seems that we are heading that way.
