Tolerance is not a four lettered word

I am quite exhausted with news of people hating women...controlling women...in dress or on any political topic...then name calling to add insult to injury...throughout history...not to be confused with herstory...many have used their religion or their beliefs to demean women to prevent their access to freedoms...why?...sigh

What do you like?...that may be the the question?...
Thanks for the blog, Lou.

I'm a white male who can pass for Anglo-Saxon Protestant if I keep my mouth shut. My experience with discrimination is nearly zero. What do I know about it?

Only that anything less than complete equality is a travesty, and that it will take a long time before some people accept this.
I am in my track... banana banana

Although I am a bit humorous at times...I am rather taken back at some replies...I think it a very serious situation...we in the west have rights but to think other women do not?...that is a problem...to engage in conversation with people who have no understanding of make the cause superficial...is the problem...
The plight of women in Afghanistan is horrendous, there they say its better to be a dog than a women.
I agree, Lou.
Some people forget that they are talking about PEOPLE! Real, live actual PEOPLE.
Part of that is being conditioned for years to the objectification of women...no surprise they are viewed as an object by some. sad flower
nia
I hear you...when can it change?...why are women being targeted?...
post
Although humour is expected...it is not funny about the plight of some women in this world...thanks for being serious in this...much appreciated!!wine
Well Lou,

You sure know how to stir up a hornets nest. However, a great subject that I believe needed to be discussed.
In addition I should say, I only have a Westerner's male perspective on things. It truly is nice to get more of a global view.
some women can walk away from what you are talking about but here in the middle east they can not as they face the anger of their families and they will be disowned by them so they have no option other than to put up with it and all the talking in the world will not change that as it has been that way for many thousands of years, and many western women that do come out here on holiday or vacation do not respect the traditions here, that is why they are frowned upon by middle eastern women, women cover their faces here as they also do in britain out of choice and respect, not all women have to cover their faces but some do,as it is their choice and not because they have to ,and also there are a lot of women here that have adopted the western way of life as it is their choice as well and their families accept that, just my thoughts
By demeaning others some people feel r beneath themselves they feel stronger in themselves . These people generally have a low self esteem.
Simply because some men want it that way and there isn't much women can do about it in some cultures.

We have choices in the West other women don't have. It will take time and a lot of access to education to change that and it will take another generation or 2 for women in some of these countries - not only to change how men view them, but also how they view their own gender.

I was brought up in a way that all siblings had the same rights and duties and that there wasn't something I couldn't do if I worked for it. I'm very lucky with my family and had a good life where I was brought up.
I have made this comment in many blogs!

I believe that the American voters are getting tired of all the fighting men that won't do anything because, well, they're fighting.

Women will take over and soon. I saw it in Madeline Albright, who would have made a fantastic President, and I see it in many many women in politics right now. Time is coming.
If you all were as ignorant as I am, you would all see how wrong you all are rolling on the floor laughing

It did stir the nest a bit didn't it!!...lol but a good topic to discuss...thanks for your views!!wine

I didn't see your post...sorry for the late reply...Thanks for your comment...hope these women will have a voice in the future...

Thanks for your comment...it will take time for women in other countries to be viewed as equal or having a say in politics for that matter...my wish is to see those women have a better life and have some control over their destiny...

I think it is about time women hold a position of power...but I am sure if it happens...she will be under much scrutiny...and if something goes wrong...it will reflect on all women...sigh
loyal
I do not expect you to understand what it is like to be female or aware of the inequities of life that women navigate through...thanks for your post!!
daniel
How are you?...nice to hear from you!!wine

Nice to hear from you!!...I am quite taken back by the nastiness as well...fear is a common denominator in regards to gaining equality!!...women do deserve to be free from tyranny...not just men!!...ignorance as well fuels the need for control...sad times for many women...sigh
@loulou You're so right. I hope we can get there but it's going to take a while still in Western countries and more generations in countries where women are treated as if they're property and like animals! sigh But we have to stay positive!bouquet
Yes I agree. lol grin
