Our Society and its illnesses today

HUMAN TRAFFICKING

I was privileged to participate in the current conference of the Human Rights held in the main office in New York today and tomorrow and I am particularly involved in this segment. Our most challenging task in curving if not completely stopping the sales of human flesh. Virtual participation is possible.

This is going to be the center of the discussion tomorrow. Anyone who wants to participate, just log into HUMAN RIGHTS/2014 conference. There are so many concerns that are provocatively straining our society today but this is where my heart is.

Below is the topic that will be held in the morning tomorrow. Copied from the context of the discussion.

Can We Bankrupt the Business of Human Trafficking?

"Modern day slavery is a human rights scourge that affects an estimated 21 million people. It's also a hugely profitable—and growing—global business, bringing in $150 billion a year for the exploiters. Business is booming largely because exploiters operate with relative impunity. Many companies have started to focus on ridding their supply chains of slave labor. But there's another supply chain that's relevant here: the many actors that recruit, transport, and house the victims along the way to final sale or exploitation, as well as those who move the money associated with this criminal enterprise. The private sector could play a game-changing role in disrupting this network by making slavery more risky and less profitable. This panel will feature case studies of private sector initiatives—including public-private partnerships—designed to bankrupt the business of trafficking."

Thank you so much for all your reads and participation.

My personal view: If there is a buyer, there will always be a seller. Or vice versa. Question is, can we truly stop it? Or we're just dreaming.

Lindsy....wave .....whereever there are big profits to be made, there will be unscrutable people.....sad flower
You're right my friend. I believe this kind of business is a very difficult one to kill. The money presented is such a colossal figure that those bent to make profit would kill to protect.
The victims are the ones kn a bad corner.
Unfortunately, as well we all know.....money is the route to all evils....sigh
That's the core of the problem Jazzy and how can we truly deal with this is I guess to just dole out the money to the perpetrators?
That's what I am hoping K, in fact the direction is to find and effective way of reaching that goal. Anyone can participate and brain storm with it.
BC, to me the torture that these victims go through is hair rising and yes why in the world don't they impose a punishment that equates to the real crime, then we see if they would still do it.
SR...

Not sure how true it is, but I have heard some of the top officials...and I mean top....were involved in things. How do you stop the people in charge of our lives? Anyway, maybe something to consider.

Again, not sure it is true...just some hearsay.

There is a lot of stuff on the internet....IF TRUE....would make anyone question human nature and give a new perspective on evil.
Wallops, what a remarkable song (amazing grace) that is. It holds all the virtues of a repentant journey finding once again the light that leads to a spiritual healing.
And the harm and injuries these victims endure are far more crippling than the physical experience. I can only see and imagine how torn and broken they can be. A most compelling reason to participate for its solution.
And of course I agree that the foundation of a good future is laid out from the support of the whole family, and I always believed this until I came across a documentary presented by Demi Moore about parents from China and some poverty laden countries to deliberately sell these poor souls for money.

For the life of me, I can't ever figure this out.
Johnny this is what's wrong with our system. When those we expect to protect us are the very evil perpetrators themselves. Makes me truly lost my hope sometimes.
It is sickening what some "humans" can do to other people. sigh
Yes K, a most despicable act.
Johnny is correct, both in and out of the US. Not consistently in every town, but often. That makes everything an uphill fight.
Hello Ken, perhaps and it's so sad.
G a very well noted account per your thinking and line of historical observation.

I haven't seen you ever contributed such a very substantial amount of vital account than now. Thanks G.
You're welcome my friend Lou and I am sure we can create an impact but I am skeptical as to a complete eradication of this problem.
Nothing can stop anything on this planet but Extinction. But even that doesn't stop creation and the repeat of history uh oh

Now on the other hand, if everyone was implanted with a chip

wink
Love you're right. Seems like there's a battle we can win but there real ones just keep on rolling.
Searched: Human Rights Conference New York typing uh oh ......wow

MANY results came up.
Now I'm confused. confused (It happens. sigh )

Can you tell us the sponsoring organization & their web address to get to the one you're referring to?
