freedom of speech

One thing I will never trade my country for is the right to freedom of speech and the press. Many more reasons but these two items come first.

I don't know about most countries in the world but I am aware of so many that won't allow this freedom.

I just want to thank this site for such a liberal policy in the conduct of any subject that I'm sure can't be tolerated in most countries.

In your country, can you write and express like you do here?

My country is not perfect but I can say this, I'm proud and I am happy to be an American.

Peace. .I thought we were the Guardian of this expensive commodity. Peace. Maybe I am wrong.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Note that it does not say you are free to express any and all views without any repercussions at all.

Yes we have more freedoms then most countries without fear of being shot for saying so.
"In your country, can you write and express like you do here?"

Obviously as the recent arrests in China and elsewhere show, no. If they write it here while they are still physically in s place lacking that Freedom, big guys with guns may kick in their door and take the whole family away.

We used to have a good CS member who worked someplace in the Mid East but she was not a native of that country and she wrote some things very mildly criticizing that particular countries way of doing things. Someone reported it (or that country reads everything everyone writes as many countries do (see Snowden for a hint)) and links it to the person. She isn't on CS anymore.
Well said cc.
"Take heed lest by any means this liberty (freedom) of yours that you have becomes a stumbling block to those who are weak (not free)" thus, says the Lord. I Corinthians 8

Christian Principle:
Freedom of speech, or choice, or right to decide, or the availability of an option DOES NOT necessitate its exercise when LOVE and CONCERN for someone else becomes a factor. The most serious danger in an unrestrained approach to liberty (freedom) is the possibility of causing RESENTMENT AND HATE (which are sins) in the weaker person who DOES NOT HAVE THE SAME LIBERTY (FREEDOM.)
Thanks for joining Sista. handshake
Molly all I can say is I'd choose again and again what I am given. The right to speech that is denied to most in other countries.

The ability to have free speech comes a price...responsibility...but I also thought about your comment regarding the Charlie Hebdo shooting...
Zmountain You gotta give Lindsy more credit then that.
Don't miss the ACM awardshead banger
Z I'm very aware of the responsibility in free speech. I think we should pay more attention to those who don't say anything, though. But like I said I imagine those that can't profess about anything for fear of being silenced?

Thanks for joining Z.
Having said that don't forget our high tech in monitoring what activities anyone does is already recorded and scrutinized.
What's in the am awards?
Freedom of speech... We have that right to do even in 3rd world country like mine. But freedom of speech does not mean that you just free to talk anything cross in your mind before you think the effect, think before you speech... We are not living alone in this world... Even a country, they will make concept before they speech at an international forums.

Tell what cross in your mind in the nane of freedom to speech which finally you just showed your quality... It's a pity.

I don't respect someone who too much talking abt something that they don't really understand and impose to other what they think... Anyway... You don't need my respect LJ.

And just knew that you are American not Philippines like your look.

Amorn, this blog is not about for anyone to respect me. In fact I don't know who you respect or not. But stirring this blog to your hostility against me, you're welcome. You are lucky that you can deliver such a great speech and my respect for you even if I know you've created so many profiles so you can stir subjects to serve you most.

You hate me and that is fine, too. I read all your comments on another blog about me. I don't hate you, I just hate those people who interpret your religion to kill. You don't do that, do you?
Just a reminder of what can happen to a blog as far as comments are concerned.

From the site rules.

COMPARE THESE 2 WOMEN LIVING IN CS-COUNTRY WHEN USING FREEDOM OF SPEECH.. (ON THE SAME BLOG).

And if you wish, you can check other comments of mine and compare those to yours. Then you would see the differences. My Gooood! I am glad in my real country, one of the so called third world countries, we THINK before we speak.. :wink;
