Smoking kills
My friend with lung cancer begged her doctor and family today to remove the machine that's keeping her alive.Having witnessed her painful struggle for the last two years, I'd say yes. But her family being Catholic, are confused and today is the day they'd decide. I hope for their unity and would agree.
I'm older than her but she'd been hooked on cigarette for the last 30 years, tried to quit many a times but failed.
I consoled her, by saying we will all die, but even with that I feel her regrets for not quitting when she would have considering her dad died at 50 for the same illness.
The good news is that her two daughters successfully quit smoking two years ago after their mother's diagnosis.
A good lesson learned for them.
I know nicotine addiction is one hard habit to give up. I was married to one for 28 years.
My prayers for my friend.

May those who smoke and desire to quit succeed.
However, people don´t seem to learn. Many think that it won´t happen to them.
Very sorry about your friend! Smoking is a terrible habit! Tomorrow, March 7, is my 43rd anniversary of quitting smoking! I am so very glad I did! I got my help to quit from the Seven Day Adventist Church! They have a 5 day quit smoking plan which I used and was able to quit!
I believe people should and must weigh the consequences if they're habit us hurting them and their love ones.
My ex tried to quit many a times after 10 years of not smoking after we met, but got a hold on him so tight, he can't.
I know he loves to quit. I'm lucky non of my children inherited the habit because he was strong in discouraging them.
I believe we're much healthier without smoking.
They're doing it with my grand children.
No one is lecturing here,
Just supporting
As for the Government trying to ban your right to do so Considering you brought it up.
Nothing could be further from the truth,
They want to regulate it to a similar standard as smoking due to lass of revenue.
The Government love the little sheeple and want you to fell empowered by the freedom to self harm.
In moderation of course, But only to a point where its not effecting the cost to the state in health costs
And not to much of a drain the HSE
It's my rule for my family. You're not my family so it's non of my business.
There's a designated place to smoke in a workplace.
That's why I said I doubt that the government would ban it because of the great profit on our weakness.
Thanks for your clarification John.
God Bless her soul.
She gave the whole instructions where to disperse her ashes as she wants to be cremated. No crying but a big party.
I am still at awe with all this.
