Luck

The way my luck is going at the moment I could scream.
So yes the insurance has started paying for all the storm damage, hopefully I'm picking up my car tomorrow after being sandwiched In a queue on a main road, only taken a month to repair. One of my cats has started to recover only 2 weeks hopefully he'll carry on. Yesterday received a letter from the tax office saying I've to pay my tax in two countries, told them this morning in their dreams and for the 5th time they've copied the papers saying I've already paid it. Then I've found out I've won a bottle of champagne I HATE champagne. Give me a break.rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

What economy?

Things are booming. Uh huh. That is why people are getting evicted and homeless and are maxing cards and pay laters for Christmas shopping when they still haven't paid off last years.frustrated
I had a dentist appt so had to tough it out and leave farm to head into town. Well, if I HAVE to go to town, might as well catch up shopping.
Stopped at Goodwill. First time in over two years. Why did I bother?doh Prices on clothes are half of new prices in box stores. They are now peddling lots of new items. Bad enough to ask double the price the dollar store asked, but I should shop like a regular store too. Not!
Went to Dollar Tree. Gee, guess they finally got the Christmas inventory. laugh Couldn't find what I wanted so total was small. Some things are a good deal. Others?rolling on the floor laughing Wow... 1.25 for glittered styrofoam or paper.scold
Went to Wally world. Inflation is down? Someone should tell them. Friend likes Miracle Whip. Idea for gifting. Oh now I see why he won't spend the cash. $5.38 for oil and flavoring. And same price for mayo with eggs and cream. Pass!mumbling I checked clearance prices on clothes. Yep..that is not going home either. And since when do they charge 25-50 for a garment?
I spent 158 and part was for gifting. Or pantry stocks. I have no idea how a family can afford to eat. Of course fast food workers in Cali got a raise to $20 an hour.roll eyes

When WW3 starts will Feminist disappear?

I look at what happened in Ukraine, where most of the Ukraine men 18 years and older stayed and engaged in the fight with Russia whereas a significant number of Ukraine women hightailed it out of Ukraine to party elsewhere, and so I have to believe the same thing will happen when the sheet hits the fan globally.

Maybe I am wrong? Do feminist fight for equality or just advocate for what benefits them? For instance, have any Feminist lately fought for conscription equality?

Donate? No!

Charities are crying, donations are down. I may give food when the mailmen pick up for food bank. Otherwise, only send a check to the local sheriff for K-9 unit. Beyond that..nope. When only 1-3% actually gets to the recipients...the rest goes for salaries for the board, convention trips, offices.doh very mad
I also get angry at their greed. Long ago I sent money to the NPR public radio. It was $10 a month to 40 total. And then they flooded my mail with fancy mailings for more. Every week or more, there was the letter. Envelope, nice inserts, postage paid envelope.mumbling After it was done, I sent them a letter back. You are not happy with a donation but want more. And spent half of what I gave on postage and letters asking for more. So now..you get nothing.
I got a mailing from a good charity last month. Calendars, note papers, and...2 pr 3 pairs of socks!wow OK...far enough. So I sent a check for $10 cause figured I got the socks. Yesterday I got a big envelope from them. More calendars, note book, planner! Oh..so now I am on your sucker list? Lesson learned. If one gives to a charity, they will spend the money hounding you for more, more, MORE!
At least when I give to the sheriff, I sometimes get a nice thank you card back and nothing more. And one time, one cop stopped by so I could meet one of the dogs. Now that is the way it should be.
thumbs up

A Glitch?

I have never thought that a glitch can be so laughable yet ugly that need to avoid or even to fix once for all if necessary, until recently. The thing is how to avoid a glitch that keeps coming in this widely open world?

But hey, don't call me Kalpataru if I cannot handle it. shimmy batting flirty

Drinking the worst tasting champagne ever - and getting paid to do it!

On Wednesday, I was informed that my employer would provide champagne for us on Friday, because the company is doing well. Friday came, and the champagne was poured.

It was awful. In fact, it was so bad, that it left my throat feeling VERY dry, which is not how I like my champagne. But still - drinking a glass of champagne on company time, whilst getting paid for it, is not as bad way to end a miserable week, because oh BOY was yesterday bad.

But it was a nice treat for us, and even though the champagne was terrible, it was quite nice to have 15 minutes where I didn't have to think about work.

Where I didn't have to think about deadlines. About drivers who mess up. About anything other than the quiet and the taste of the champagne.

Would I buy it for myself? Absolutely not. Was it expensive? I think it was. I am employed at a billion kroner company, after all, so they can afford to splurge on champagne.

But now - well, now is the weekend, and boy is it gonna be good! I plan to do my laundry tomorrow, and get some well earned rest!

One of the down sides of becoming older

Is having to walk away from someone you'd rather stand face to face with and kick the shoite of, if push came to shove.

That's what I had to do this evening when it came to my youngest brother and I'm angry with myself that I did, when it comes to him its a first .. I'm telling myself I done the right thing yet this inner voice keeps ringing in me ear, age is making me a coward sigh Decades before I am old roll eyes

Kissenger

Thank goodness that jerk finally died. Half the people liked him and half loathed him. I hated him for decades. I never figured out how he got his hooks into our government and leaders that allowed him to control the narrative for all these years.confused
For anything he did that was wise, he countered with evil. Nixon kissed his butt and we bombed Cambodia in secret.
Funny thing I noticed. When a noted person dies, media covers every aspect of everything they did. Groups gather to honor and accolades flood the air waves. In the case of Henry K, I saw media noting he died at 100 and now crickets. You tube has videos of his evil. Sanders railed years back against him.
Perhaps the powers that be wish to lay low so they adjoining evil doesn't get aired?dunno
