Opening songs...

In the late 60's and early 70's there was a popular venue where they held teen dances Saturday and Sunday nights. It was originally a grocery store that went bankrupt, not long after it became a gathering place where they projected surfing movies on the wall. A father and son bought the place, erected 2 stages and hired local bands to perform there. The pay wasn't great, but it was steady work where as many as 4 bands playing each night and sometimes we were booked 6 to 8 nights a month.

The venue (legally) had a capacity of 90, but there where nights where kids stood outside waiting to get in and it was mostly 'standing room only' as the owners packed the place.
Lots of places would stamp your hand as identification so you could leave and return later and more kids would pay to get in as soon as a few left... even if they were going for a hamburger with plans to be back in 30 minutes. So total paid attendance would easily be 250 to 300 in a 4 hour period.

Because it was so popular, bands as far as 50 miles away were booked to play there. I got to hear a good sampling of the music being played in South Florida. There were a few Latin (Cuban) bands playing and a few soul or blues groups, but mostly the mix was rock & roll and later changing to hard rock music.

Over the years, I had been in a few different groups and my father managed us which was great because he was friendly with the owners that helped us get more bookings.

One afternoon, we had solid rain for a few hours and the streets were flooded. Some of the groups were forced to cancel their appearances. We weren't booked that night, but a desperate last-minute call from the owner asked if we were available. No problem. Our drummer had a Volkswagen bus, so we loaded our gear and was able to go through the flooded streets to make it to the gig! That effort put us in 'solid' with the owners.

As always, it was important to have a good opening song at the beginning of each set.
There was a band we often shared a stage with called "The Body Shop" and they played a mixture of blues and rock & roll. They were located across town so none of us knew them from school or any other connection, but we got along great with no friction or band rivalry in any way, so it didn't matter if they opened the set first or we opened the set first.
The cool thing about this group was they often opened their set playing the high-energy song "Living in the USA" by the Steve Miller Band.
I heard this song on the radio today and it reminded me of the group.
Great song!

I like the idea of Trump 47 / Agenda 47 listed by a Woke influencer herein

Woke influencer lists all of the "terrifying" things that Trump will do if he wins and accidentally made him the most epic campaign ad ever.

I like most of Agenda 47 ideas and I hope Potus Trump actually implements Agenda 47 early 2025 and gets us out of this hole mr biden has dug the USA into. Let's get America back on a road to prosperity, security and end starting wars using a moral compass.

With a national debt of 33 trillion plus U.S. dollars, America cannot afford to be a free mercenary state for other NATO nations. Other NATO sovereign countries need to grow up and settle their own issues among themselves and with non NATO countries.

Agenda 47 spells Freedom. Let's Make America Great again everyone!

Sincerity vs hypocrisy

In recent months, I have discovered a pattern. I meet more bad people in my life than the good ones
The line in life between good and bad is, of course, very arbitrary.
Well, really: who can be considered good and who bad? What criteria might there be?
Most likely, this is all individual, but if any of us is deceived, betrayed, or does some kind of meanness to us, we will not dare to call such a person good. Or another question: Can a hypocrite be considered a good person?
My own statistics have shown that in my life I meet such people much more often than the sincere ones. It's sad to admit, but it's so as it is.
But why do people tend to choose these ways of interacting with others? What pushes them to do this?

I think the point is that people naturally tend to be selfish and think about their own interests and desires first. While a good person tries to maintain a balance between realizing his/ her desires and not going over other people’s heads, a bad person loses his sense of proportion and begins to not care about others, including friends and relatives.
Apparently, correcting your own shortcomings is more difficult than making your own mistakes. because you need to face the unpleasant truth about yourself, accept it, and this requires courage, a sincere desire to transform. But here the hypocrisy takes over
I'll leave the blog open for comments as it would be hypocritical not to let people, who do disagree with me, to speak up
I wish all of you to meet good people more often in your life

Cashing in on Johnny

Unreleased Johnny Cash album, Songwriter, is set for a posthumous release after being reworked by his son John Carter Cash.

The 11 songs, which were recorded as demos in 1993, have been stripped back to just Cash's signature bass-baritone voice and acoustic guitar by his and the late June Carter Cash's 54-year-old son.

Cash died, aged 71, in 2003, and he had recorded the tracks at LSI Studios in Nashville a decade prior to his passing.

The tapes were abandoned when Cash decided to record American Recordings with super-producer and longtime collaborator Rick Rubin. However, re-recordings of Drive On and Like A Soldier were used on that record.

His son said in a statement: "I wanted it to be songs that mostly people hadn't heard and that paid close attention to who he was as a songwriter and who he was as an American voice

Absolute presidential immunity...

The subject of whether or not if Trump has absolute presidential immunity went to the Supreme Court. They delayed it going on their busy schedule until it got to a critical point of them making a decision. When they got around to discussing the topic, they rendered a decision without making a decision... It's called a delay.
Favoring Trump, the king of delay tactics, gets a delay. Their inability to show some cojónes gave him what he needs. So there is a chance it will be (conveniently) scheduled after the election. He gets what he wants and their hands aren't dirty.

One reader comment on the subject of immunity, made an important observation:
The Supreme Court has lost their integrity.
