Ok, so here goes: I started the first thread with the news that 2 Maltese Catamarans were to make a trip from As-Shahab Port in Tripoli and as I write the same Catamarans have just left the same port for a second time. This time however they are not chartered by the American Embassy but one by a German company and the other sent by its owners Virtu Ferries just to pick up anyone.
As I write the Catamarans are on the way to Malta though I have no news of their exact departure time nor of how many passengers they are carrying. One important passenger is however the Maltese Ambassador for Libya who left Tripoli together with his family. That in itself could be significant.

Yea I would deffinatly consider that signifigant! lol Glad they are safe though.
This morning I went to both the airport and the harbour to check on proceedings and I have a number of updates.
For one and perhaps the most important is that the HMS York has sailed out unannounced out of the Grand Harbour, destination unknown but presumably in international waters just off Libya or possibly to Benghazi to join the HMS Cumberland. Secondly the French Destroyer, the FS Tourville has this afternoon left its berthing place just under Valletta and been moved to near the opening of the harbour. So far it remains berthed there but the reason for this movement was not clear and is quite unusual. Perhaps it is there in preparation to leave quickly if required.

# 1731: Libya's former Interior Minster Gen Abdel Fattah Younes al-Abidi, who defected last week, has told Al-Arabiyah that a "massive" pro-Gaddafi army convoy is heading towards Misrata. The town has no means to defend itself, he says, warning of a "real massacre".

In another update, the "MV Toscana" berthed at the Valletta Waterfront this morning. The "Toscana" as I had previosly advised is an Italian Cruise Ship chartered by a Brazilian company to ferry it mostly Brazilian workers out of Libya.
Local news speak of around 3,000 persons on board and considering the size of the vessel (see pic below), this is quite possible. Apart from the Brazilians, workers from 33 other nations were board. They are expected to stay onboard until they are taken to the airport for flights to their countries.
Talk of a second ferry due in harbour in the afternoon proved too early as I stayed there till around an hour ago and none showed up. Once reaching our shores, it will be the second of four Chinese-chartered ships expected in Malta over the coming days.

This has to stop! How can someone murder his own people! It's heartbreaking!!

# 1755: The BBC's Jeremy Bowen reports from Zawiya on the regime-organised press trip which instead of promoting an image of calm, made it clear the town was no longer under the regime's control.
The following is a transcript from an Al Jazeera correspondent collected from a witness in Tripoli who was present in the Friday incidents:
"Tripoli is a civil city no weapons here; we just fight with stones, even the ambulances are full of mercenaries ... you have to sign a document that you agree that your son/daughter was killed by protesters or they won't release the body ... lot of people have gone missing ... kidnapped from outside their houses, people paid 7000 dinars to kidnap ... my friends were shot by snipers on Friday ... they died, and an old man died in front of him as well ...around 40,000 people were protesting ... there many snipers around -i have videos, but they are after me - they will catch me."

While Libyan leader Gaddafi may be reviled by many of his own people and the international community, he's enjoying an unexpected surge of popularity...
A youtube video clip has the leader in a remix of a rambling 75-minute speech Gaddafi delivered on Tuesday, set to dance music alongside footage of two gyrating girls. The video created by an Israeli musician and DJ Noy Alooshe and appears to be wildly popular in the Arab world despite its origins in the Jewish state and is going viral. However the Arab sites are promoting an edited version where the dancing girls have been removed.
The Maltese Prime Minister decribes the situation as "Very Critical":
In a local press conference this evening, the Maltese Prime Minister Dr. Gonzi, described the situation as very critical and could get more serious in the coming hours and days. He also said that Malta had to be prepared to receive thousands more people and to give them all the help they require including medical care and logistical support.
He said that the Libya crisis was entering a sensitive and delicate phase which may see an escalation with regard to the victims of violence.
