Aragorn11: Loved it
Fantastic read and written with such humour and warmth.
Went to an appearence of his in the local theatre, while he read a few excerpts while drinking a pint ! Great guy. Although the sequel, "the road to mcCarthy " wasnt as good imo

The last book I read was Dan Brown's Inferno. When you get to the last chapters where the orchestra is playing you really got to listen to this piece when you get to it.

The Virgin Suicides by wotsisname Eugenides, picked out and recommended from a charity shop shelf by a brainy, literature-soaked friend.

I'm liking it a lot. smile

metamorphic: The films are pretty good as well, The Swedish one's. I wasn't that impressed with the one with whatsitsnamelittlejamesbondfella.

I will read the books first and as the man is dead, he would have no input to films, so will skip them and just keep memories of books. Started 2nd one and as a rule, I do not like reading books with follow on people in, if you get me, It's like reading a soap, and if you miss a book out, lordy lord. These have proved an exception and I will read all three.

There are only a few writers who do have a possible input when their work turns into a film...
Saw a good film once, called Henry the 5th or something, it's not a bad book either.
But I don't think the original writer had much of an input.
Thinking of it, I think he's dead
Don't let it stop you from watching good films
Same as with the books, there are 3 and they follow the books well

I read it just as one big book which would be an impractical large lump of paper to carry around at once.
Noomi Rapace as Lisbeth Salander is a superb bit of casting and great acting on her part.
But yes, do read the books first

laugh yep I get you BUT for me, it's either the film OR the book certainly not both. Spoils it somewhat, either the film or the book, grin

Got to admit I am not much into films. Nature programmes, factual and politics, grin although they are not factual, politicians that is.rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

serene56: I am a voracious reader, always have at least three books on my bedside table, always non-fiction.

My faves are travel narratives, biographies and true crime.

Currently devouring One Tragic Night, the Oscar Pistorious Murder Trial .. absolutely fascinating and unputdownable

Wow! Another non-fiction lover. applause I hate fiction and made-up stuff, because truth is stranger than fiction! uh oh

Currently reading will stories by two Wills lawyers. Be careful who you leave in your will...or who you leave out. laugh
