Happygolucky4u: I am just gonna fix a traditional meal. I miss how we celebrated when my Mum was living. We would all gather at her house for a fun day of food and games. You have me curious now about how most the people in Ireland celebrate it. Thank you curiosity is good for the mind
For many, they will pin their shamrock to their lapel and attend church where there is usually an emphasis on Irishness (music and language). For me it is about family. A meal of Bacon, Cabbage and Potato with parsley sauce. (Our traditional food). Then watch the local parade with floats depicting current issues and relevancies. Lots of bands sprinkled in between. Today, it clashes with the Last of the 6 Nations Rugby.....
thisforfree: Winning in twickenham and winning the grand slam on english soil and shutting eddie jones mouth will mean an awful lot to every sporting irish person. The pubs will be rocking
Yes! It makes for an exciting day! Good luck also to Nemo Rangers
rainbowdream2017: I am not Irish but if work permits me, I celebrate all Christian Saints.
An Irish Blessing May there always be work for your hands to do May your purse always hold a coin or two; May the sun always shine on your windowpane; May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain; May the hand of a friend always be near you; May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.

Thank you that makes me feel good. My step dad was Irish and my Mom tried to make it a special day for him. It sounds like she did good And I have to admit I loved having an extra day for family gathering. Here in my town they will be doing a lot of partying and drinking in the bars this year. They are doing block parties. Bands food drinks and festivities. I think I am going to put my corn beef on in a bit and clean house while it simmers. Being this year the holiday falls on a Saturday the partying will be at full scale. May all remain happy and safe this day

Just an opportunity for the dollar shops to trot out green things and for people to get smashed at 'Irish' pubs
Happy St Pats day though to those who find it meaningful
