I'm a bit of both. Depends on the people or person involved and what it is.
Some things don't need to be aired. There are some things I'd rather not be privy too with others.
With an actual significant other, there would be a willingness to be more of the open book(on both parts I hope).

I don't think she needs to know cause it has nothing to do with our friendship
Sometimes people don't want to know all the gritty about you
I'm a good one to tell a secret to because all my life I've worked in jobs that were highly confidential
In all honesty I don't want to know if someone is cheating on her husband or if he's cheating
If I see someone cheating then that becomes a problem for me cause now I am burdened with that secret
