I'm sorry to hear about the death of his grandmother...but it was an interesting assumption that "she died one day before he could become the first black president of the United States".

I wonder how long it will take for someone to see a conspiracy in this...
It was posted by someone earlier today that there were tapes of Obama´s grandmother saying he was born in Kenya...
It´s sad to lose a grandparent, and grandmothers always seem to have such wise words and meaning of life things to impart to their grandchildren. I´m sure he will miss her... and I hope that this is indeed too personal an area for the rumour monger´s to tread through.

After all the unfounded lies and innuendo that have been such a big part of this campaign, it´s sad but that is exactly where my mind goes... it just seems so coincidental that in the last few days while his grandmother was dying that someone claims to have a tape of her saying he was born in Kenya... and now that she´s gone the tape becomes hearsay and the one who claims to have it will say it can´t be released... but the rumours will continue.
Yes, I´m ashamed to admit... that scenario was the first thing to come into my head when all I should have been thinking is how sad it is to lose a loved one.

An amazing woman, who lived an extraordinary life. Women from her generation (not to put down other generations) were models of streanth, courage and values. My deepest sympathies to the family. Perhaps if any of you have grandparents, or maybe parents that are getting up there in age, maybe this is a good opportunity to give them a call, or pay them a visit. let them know your thinking of them and are grateful for all they have done. sleep well Madelyn.

There is nothing presumptive about that statement. It is 100% accurate! He COULD become president. The OP didn't say he WOULD become president.

Mr Obama suspended his campaign for two days last month so he could travel to Hawaii to spend time with Madelyn Payne Dunham, who helped raise him, after her health deteriorated "to the point where her situation is very serious".
She died one day before he could become the first black president of the United States.
Mrs Dunham died peacefully after a battle with cancer, Mr Obama said in a joint statement with his sister Maya Soetoro-Ng.
"She was the cornerstone of our family, and a woman of extraordinary accomplishment, strength, and humility," the Democratic presidential candidate said. "She was the person who encouraged and allowed us to take chances."
In a campaign advert earlier this year, Mr Obama described his grandmother as the daughter of a Midwest oil company clerk who "taught me values straight from the Kansas heartland".
He said this included things like "accountability and self-reliance. Love of country. Working hard without making excuses. Treating your neighbour as you'd like to be treated".
Mrs Dunham was also the "white grandmother" he referred to in a high-profile speech on race as he called for a "more perfect union" in the US.
The 47-year-old Illinois senator learned of her death on Monday morning while he was campaigning in Jacksonville, Florida.
He plans to go ahead with campaign appearances.
