miranda and the tempest.

The wind stirred up
by waterey hand
that underneath the ship
to rock that vessel royal
the howling sound
of vengeance sent
hidden in the storm

and on that island
castaway's
prospero and Miranda
prospero robbed
of his heritage
and cast to water
with his daughter

survived the island
cave their home
until the guilty party
aboard the ship
came sailing by
and storm was conjured
in that sky

a young Miranda
age 15 looks on with sighs
her heart is soft
and tender there
and wants to spare
the sailors who
would drown so easily

red hair the symbol
of a flashing temper
yet naive Miranda
sheltered from men
has much compassion
inspite of nearby danger

mirandas long red hair
and ankle dress
sea blue in wind
standing with
her thoughtful look
so young and fair

an evil servant
to touch her soul
she stands alone for mercy
to look and plead
to that man god
whose words the storm began

see her on that shore
untouched naive
yet feeling much
a ship so vexed
with people there
her heart cries spare

and in this long
tempestuous play
where forgiveness
wins that stormy day
Miranda loves her Ferdinand
and all depart the dark island
