LIFE'S DREAM
The stream of life past us flows,
Where it goes, no-one knows,
The water is deep, the current fast,
And, what was our future is soon the past.
The tree is high, the roots run deep,
It's branches spread wide, safe us to keep,
Leaves our shelter and warmth at no cost,
Buds our babies, twigs our young,
To replace too many generations lost.
And so life's dream,
Twixt tree and stream,
One to watch and one to wait,
While those that have passed,
Speak as guardians of the gate.
"Always follow what's inside,
Forget the money,
Or, what's gained in import,
Is lost to fate.
For sometimes, with something that pays less,
You'll gain more reward than you can guess".
A good way to start....
Only you know what's inside you,
What's inside your heart,
And, you will soon find,
When with another of your kind,
Cool realisation,
That bodies age, and looks fade,
But never a clever or beautiful mind.
So, to your own self be true,
Feel deep inside,
converse with your heart,
You'll know what to do.

I esp. like "Always follow what's inside...
That bodies age, and looks fade, but never a clever or beautiful mind."
There's so much more here, but I only have a few mins. at the moment-lol- so hopefully will get a chance to revisit.
Rob
mind doesn't.
Bottom line is it is the mind that creates impressions in the canvas of life.
Thank you for the write and sharing

kick..
good to see you again ..JG..
Perhaps there is such a thing as beauty that transcends one's eyes; but, often, it resides in the eyes of the beholder (as noted by W. Shakespeare, D. Hume and, more recently, M. W. Hungerford) with each eye viewing through the lens of what's inside the self. May there be enough there to fulfill LIFE'S DREAM. Your poem left my mind wrestling with the thought of having to choose between mind and body.
Beautiful write Andrew.
each sentence a gem.
