A new friend in my life I wanted you to be
Dateless weekends would become part of my past history
Out on the dance floor two pairs of feet moving slowly to a favorite song
With no strings attached how could either of us go wrong?


At a sporting event supporting a favorite team
No longer having loneliness to contend with; living the American Dream
Whenever I became hungry my new friend always at my side
Discussing common interests a source of mutual pride.


Off together to the theatre a new feature to see
Close together in physical harmony on a couch watching a rental DVD
For an extended period of time everything was mutual bliss
Unfortunately from her side there was an issue I apparently has missed.


While she was youthful; Father Time was not on my side
Control over someone's future not acceptable as I allowed patience to be my guide
Explaining my reasons; a look of unhappiness covered her non believing eyes
After a final embrace; both of us sadly got to try additional heartache on for size.

Yes years ago the Beatles wrote the song
Who else can help you when everything is wrong
Trying to succeed but all else fails
It is good to read some interesting e mails
I find my self troubled and do not know what to do
That is why I am searching for someone like you
Why is it the people you care about the most?
Tend to live far off some long distance coast
I try to be flexible and meet them half way
but before long it is all an effort of dismay
Talking is good and open communication is the thing
This is what comes to the table this is what I bring
Lets chat and be happy for a while

In the six years that our friendship has grown
I have enjoyed your loving soul to know

Our passage has been made more interesting,

Being true to ‘self’ with rhyme and reason.
As such; we have loyalty and love we share
To lighten our load of the burdens we bare.

Though you and I have had to go separate ways
At turning points in our lives we still remain
The best of friends with a strengthening bond
Betwixt and between; twilight to the dawn.

I will miss you so again when we must part
As you are permanently etched in my heart
