One Friday night at the trots (old Harold Park)

Rapt in attention
As the pace car quickens
Horses score up behind
Like a phalanx
Seven off the front
And five behind
Makes a full field of twelve

Drivers in formation -
Now bursting off the arm
To settle down at speed
In two neat rows

The first sectional is fast - 27.6 seconds
And they are going like last weeks pay out there!
Back markers get busy and the field has already
Covered 600 yards

The driver in front plays on the reins
In an attempt to slow down the field
Only to hear a three wide train -
All flashing silks and thundering hooves
Now rushing around his outside

Eight hundred meters are gone
And the're already three wide-
Has the favorite gone all too soon?
At six to four on she makes a bid for the top
Only to land in the breeze

Another fast split 29.2 seconds
(Only slightly slower again)
They burst past the post
And out rings the bell-
Another fast lap now to come

At the burst of the bell
Horses quicken their feet
And drivers lean back in their gigs

Number one she still leads
Flashing silks gold and green -
Will she be an Emerald City girl tonight?

The driver leans back harder
To slow down the field
And succeeds in a 30.9 second split

The mare gets a breather -
But now they come faster
Rushing three
And now four horses wide

The home turn approaches
And they all fan out
To each get a shot at the post
The crowds on its feet screaming and cheering
For the tough little mare to get beat

The favorites now gone
(Loud swearing beside me)
But still the game mare just hangs on
They flash past the post
And I can see now shes lasted
To get up at forty to one!

Without title

***
You walk with a childish grin – mere girl,
And wherever you go you pose proudly and stalk,
And the apple - the one in right hand that you hold -
It becomes you as flower that’s stuck in your locks.

You stop all of sudden, you're pale, eyes amazed,
On rare occasion you smile, feeling great.
How fair you are seems you don’t understand,
Meaning you really know – it is true, it's a fact.

Oh, I walk on this earth unperturbed,
Though at times I am cheerful, glad,
And I seem not to know whether I love you or not,
Meaning I really care, it's fact.

***
I remember once in a grove moonlit night,
You promised with smile me to love – t’was so nice!
I believed, for in world there’s a lie, sweetest lie,
Which you wish to believe, of which prey you become.

Now that this moonless night for my sake you light up,
With smile you that promise once made have denied,
I never believed, for in world some truth’s hard,
One you’ll hate to believe, one you'll never give trust.

***
I remember your paleness, the whisper of lips,
Making promise: “I’ll follow you down to tomb,
Where love is so pure, so speckless,
Where love is forever, for good…”

Everybody is gone, you’re the only one left,
And I see now the shadows on long journey bent.
It is time, for my grave has been waiting for days,
Are you ready, my sweetheart, to follow my steps?

Got To Keep Moving On

I am tired and the road ahead seems all so long.
The darkness that surrounds me as I move seems almost like a blanket holding me tight.
But I got to go keep on moving even if my heart knows its not right.
Can't seem to slow down just know I will find what I am looking for.
I close my eyes and the tears they just want to come.
Its hard to live life always on the move.
No one to hold me tight when the day is done.
No imprint on the pillow saying someone's been there.
I don't know if I have in me to really care.
I have been traveling way to long.
Putting off things that most have already done.
I've been on the run.
Looking back it all seems like a blur.
I gave you all I've had to give.
That I forgot to live.
Now I am sitting here. Wondering what next. The future is so unclear.
Just feeling like I want to get out of here.
Take the next plane home.
And stay till this feeling is gone.
I know the difference between a job and a career.
One you give eight hours to and one you give your life.
One day you wake and find your an old maid.
Never had the time to be someone's wife.
No babies have you held that you did not have to give back.
I fear it is to late to change my ways.
And have the things I kept putting off for another day.
I walk in the room I am so composed.
No one knows.
My face a mask so many feelings that I hide.
I know I must continue this ride.
What I dream of is not what is real.
It just don't matter how I really feel.

About this poem:
Sometimes when you have a position in a career if you leave sadly it can cause others to lose their position. Can one leave other families without an income in today's time and look in the mirror and smile. I think not. Maybe I should have titled this trapped.

to love a mad man

i will never forget, but i dont want to
because of how it felt
joy is worth pain
or am i lieing to myself?

had i of known,would i of
but we dont choose who to fall in love with
but god you choice of all prince charmings
to send me one WHY one that was sick?

lies stories maddness
often i put my life at risk
my well being never matterd
his, always did.

faithfullness he gave to me
he in love with me as i him
and though i am not a failure
sorry lord, i could never win.

my hurt? always excused
its not his fault hes mental
and god you know, his sane days
are the days i wished could stand still.

i know he needs me more then i do him
dispite he makes it feel the other way round
yet i darent leave him in fear for him
how will he react if i let him down.

but even i have a line love does not cross
to tell me to kill myself, he doesnt see
he doesnt have to suggest such a thing
when his words have finally, already killed me.

i dont know god what you were playing at
but im tired of you testing me as you do
maybe you think i dont deserve anyone better
but my thoughts are, that i do.

some day i am going to die
prepare yourself lord for when that day comes
cause iv more then a bone or two to pick with you
for why you choose me to be the blasted cursed one.

Freedom to Love

Have you finally understood the difference between love
And slavery?
You, the emotional Massa, abusing my senses,
Shackling my hands without
The possibility of producing
The good that God has blessed me with...
His presence, the joy of His love frolicking in my spirit...
You tried to keep me ignorant, claiming that commitment could never exist... as you distracted me with your deceiving kiss;
I don't believe you anymore -
I need you to walk out of the door of my happier life,
I'd like to be a wife, not
Filled with hatred... rife in this world of uncertainty and pain;
I want you to forget the spelling of my name,
To drown in the sea of my shunning, so I can keep on running... far away from your iniquitous regard,
It won't be hard for me to bask in the light of His Grace and Mercy... they will always follow me... blessings, with my salvation to think of,
Finding joy and prosperity in my newfound freedom to love!

About this poem:
I wrote this poem because the love that so many of us used to know in relationships, seems to no longer exist. However, God's love has always been the rock of ages, our foundation that never allows us to feel insecure. So, as I struggle to separate myself from former negative friendships and persons with hatred as their modus operandi, this poem is a reflection of my desire to be free to love again!

A Peaceful Word Here At PC

I'm an Intuitive Empath (A "Sensitive"if you will) a gift that has proven an asset in my work in law enforcement. When I came in here the other day, the atmosphere felt quite like a cannon blast. Not a very comfortable thing or situation in which to deal with or to come into. After reading posts and comments, the situation became quite clear.

There is always one side, the other side and the truth is always somewhere in the middle. Name calling and finger pointing does not show a warm and welcoming atmosphere to the new members. New members who now may not feel comfortable in posting their work.

I come here to read the latest works of friends and to make new ones.I have always found it to be a much welcome respite from the dreariness I encounter at work.

I'd be more than happy to listen to each side privately through the mailbox here. :)

I am aware that words were said and feelings were hurt and apologies have been made. That is the start of a simple thing called "forgiveness". :) May you go forth and bear remembering that tomorrow is the start of something new. :)

I love and honor each one of you for your gifts, your friendship and your writing talent. You are so blessed. :)

His Moonlight Girl

Embedded image from another site

Inside his room
intimate circle
a shade of sad
a tear forms.

She does not sob
the tear doesn't fall
it is hidden
within the kiss she gives.

He is happy
a smile forms
there is laughter hiding
in her dark eyes...

YOU CAN'T NOT LOOK

What possesses females to parade in clingy tights
shameless showcasing takes provocative to new heights
Tactful dress clearly thrown right out the window
"You Can't Not Look" at details they consciously show

Women certainly know this attire warrants wanted attention
slutty "Eye Candy" arouses thoughts I badly wanna mention
If not meant to raise eyebrows why wear trashy things
gawks of lust precisely what overly revealing outfit brings

Lady's there's such a thing as TOO much 'Camel Toe'
Spandex wearers 'in your face' everywhere you go
These women are many things but they're NOT shy
some so desirable it hurts inside when they pass by

Displaying such sadistic clothing is soliciting a stare
having to keep silent leans heavily toward very unfair
When people glare it's 'How dare you gaze at me'
'disrespect' is flaunting what only your man's eyes should see

This daily wear is offensive but accepting that "they won't"
consider caring about what other people think " they don't "
Tights are women's go to dress whether at work or play
in our morally defunct world seductive sexy is here to stay

Adults can rightly dress as cheap as they so desire
your look shouldn't be okayed for little girl's attire

Perfection

Do you not see me? Standing on that solitary rock
Where you always imagined I would be
As night became day, yet I refused to leave
Have you felt the passion? Of the solitary man
Who looked at you, not with pleading eyes?
For he knew what you would always know
That true love is not how one feels
But it is how one cannot resist
That touch, that tingle, that takes over
Your very soul and quells all resistance
As if the world would never stand still again
And the Nightingales still sung
And the dawn released us yet again
To fulfil what we know could never be
But how we savoured it, those precious moments
When two hearts put aside their differences
And took the moment for what it was
Knowing that it would never last
But always unable to resist the passion
Do you not see me?
Standing on that rock
Am I just a vision of your hopes and dreams?
Or am I a reality
That only you can make come real
For perfection is not within our grasp
But passion is forever within our hearts
So when you next go to the sea, look up
And always wonder at what you have missed
And stare at that long off shadow
Do you not see me?
For I am there

And the Moon screamed out your name
And the Sun burnt you into my life
As the dawn held you within my sight
And the Nightingales refused to cease their song
And you knew
That that solitary rock
Would never be the same again
For perfection
Can not ever be found
But love seeks only tenderness
And cares not for the distant drums
That would awaken us apart once again
Do you not miss me as I do you?

See the rainbow

Wake up to a bright sunny yellow day
Open the window and you see green grass
And the leaves on the trees swaying with
So much of life, and you breathe in fresh air
Of a new day with the red, orange, purple flowers
That brings a pink glow to your skin
And sometimes beyond, you may see the marsh!

But life is all about seeing
The brightest colors of the rainbow
The happy colors and the earthy tones
That would keep you, away from the blues
And on the ground, else you should stray away
And get lost in oblivion, and miss out on
The lovely life, of seeing the rainbow!
