I have honestly never heard about Irish travelers before. I don't dislike any person I don't know. Are they many and do they cause problems for other people? Just curious.

I would be the least able to answer those questions, but after reading 22 pages of replies on the other thread, it is definitely a serious enough concern.
RoseaBellBlues You maybe don't realise, but only one of your poll questions can be ticked by a user, which kind of makes the whole purpose meaningless.

We can choose from the list of questions you offered through the poll but we don't have the option to answer.
In any case, what or who are IRISH TRAVELERS? Are they like gypsies from eastern Europe or men and women who travel and happen to be Irish or a particular ethnic group in Ireland? And why are you so passionate about this?

I'm sorry RoseaBell, but you've made the most fantastic spelling mistake in the title - I think you meant 'let your voice be heard', but I really do like the idea of everyone talking about their favourite vice.
Sensibly, answering your questions:
1.do you know what traveler culture is? - I don't know anything much about Irish traveller culture.
2.do you dislike travelers for what ever reason ? - No, you're the only Irish traveller I know and I think you're grand.
3.do you have any traveler people as friends? - Not Irish travellers as far as I know, but I know quite a few fairground people and have done work for them. My daughter is half gypsy.
4.do you know the meaning of Irish travelers ? - I don't understand this question. It sounds similar to question number 1 about traveller culture.
5.do you think travelers should have equal rights ? - Yes. I think everyone should have equal rights.
6.settle people, travelers should work 2 gether? - I've never had a problem working with travellers. If you mean working together to find common ground in situations of conflict, yes that would be ideal.
7.do u believe travelers a highly discriminated? - Yes, some of my customers have told me stories of discrimination and my daughter has been subject to discrimination for being gypsy. I think a lot of people don't understand how they are discriminating against others.
8.should travelers have there own culture ? - Everyone should have the right to their own culture as long as it does no harm, or as little harm as possible to others. I suspect settled culture has done as much harm to traveller culture, if not more, than traveller culture has ever done to settled culture. Some settled people complain about travellers affecting their way of life, but settling has made it very difficult for travellers to...errr...travel in the tradition way. In terms of managing conflicting cultures, it needs to work both ways and it needs compromise.
9.is travelers dirty and has no care for the law? - which particular traveller, or travellers are we talking about?
10.if i said i was a traveler would u prejudge me? - I hope not, but if I do ever say anything prejudiced, please tell me.

...there is 40.000 of them in Ireland and yes some off them can cause problems but its like all walks of life good and bad every where.
A few questions based on reading a few responses from your previous threads on this topic:
1) Do all Irish Travelers pay taxes for all work done?
2) During the winter months when they are not traveling, do they pay full rent and/or mortgage for the accommodations where they live?
3) Do they pay for water, sewer, trash disposal, electricity, gas, etc. during the winter months at their place of accommodation, and also wherever they may reside during their traveling times?
4) Do they pay for health insurance, social security, local, city, county taxes, etc?

do you know what traveler culture is? Yes.
do you dislike travelers for what ever reason ? I can not dislike a whole group based on the behaviour of some.
do you have any traveler people as friends? No.
do you know the meaning of Irish travelers ? Yes.
do you think travelers should have equal rights ? They have them.
settle people, travelers should work 2 gether? You what??
do u believe travelers a highly discriminated? The ones that are, bring it upon themselves.
should travelers have there own culture ? Don't they already?
is travelers dirty and has no care for the law? In my personal experience, based on the times I've seen them, yes. The ones I have seen have had no respect for the land nor the law.
if i said i was a traveler would u prejudge me? No. Now stop with the pity card and stop caring what people think of you.
Now, based on one of your questions, I have one of my own.
Do you think LANDOWNERS should have the rights to evict the travellers when they turn up and turn a beautiful field into a scrapyard, by whatever means they seem fit?
I wouldn't have a problem with them...except this is the kind of mess they leave behind whenever they decide to park their caravans outside my door for a couple of weeks.

That is not the full extent of it. Behind me when I took the pic was a further 100mts of the same. I used to live in the house on the far left of the pic, so their caravans were right outside my door and I had to put up with the sound of generators running at night time and their dogs constantly barking. It would cost my local council around £10,000 to clear up after them each time they left the area, money which of course came out of the local taxpayers pockets. Apart from their own rubbish left behind, they would also dump any commercial waste from the jobs they would be doing at the time, laying driveways, waste removal etc. By any standards, this is not reasonable or responsible behaviour.
Mimi1973: This is bad! Do this happens often at your area?
Yes it used to up until a couple of years ago. They would move around the town where I live from one site to another. At one point they even set up camp in the main pay and display car park in the town centre and left the same kind of mess. There is a really beautiful country park to the right of my pics, that was also used on a regular basis, making the park a no go area for the duration of their stay.

I think these questions need to be asked. Doesnt matter which if tf He double do it. The op keeps saying she wants people to understand travellers and get along.

Of course they have the right to evict Travellers, just the same as they have the right to evict settled people who turn their land into a scrapyard.
I think these questions need to be asked. Doesnt matter which if tf He double do it. The op keeps saying she wants people to understand travellers and get along.
Glat, are you trying to say that all settled people are perfect and all Travellers are Bad?
Can you admit to the possibility that there are good Travellers?

Somebody would be shot them over the generators in my neighborhood. Not to steal the generators but to shut them up. We also have barking laws. I am unsure how the law goes. None of mine have ever been barkers unless at intruders

Stanley I respect your questions and that you have had no problems with the Travelling community within the confines of Kildare? You are entitled to your own personal experience, thats fine. However, I am entitled to my personal experience since i have had more than most, with travellers, living beside the, selling clothing to them. Trying to have them housed when I worked in a Centre for Landlord/Tenant and as a mediation /counselling person. Glatlol and others have had real, legitimate experiences and coming back with 'But there are 40,000 ' isnot an anwer, is not dialogue. I think you would do the woman a favour by stopping being condescending and let her answer the settled people who have had very bad experiences, of which there are many.... unless of course you are a spanner in the works, isnt there one on every blog
More than they know or care about my own culture. Yes Yes Do they know the meaning of my community? Equal rights only with equal responsibility. They do work together. I believe they're positively discriminated against. Their victimcard grants them liberties that regular people do not have. They should assimilate or, at the least, not complain when the host culture protests against being walked all over. They care less for the laws of a culture that they consider themselves to be not a part of. Yes, I would. You clearly consider yourself loyal to your clan and not the greater community and the country - You're gypsy first, and a national second(if at all).
If nothing else I simply do not trust any cosmopolitans or nomads. How can a group that conducts its business here, there and everywhere have real respect for the land that gives them life? Bankers in the city are gypsy nomads with no connection to Britain, they too a small, rootless international clique that deals in London today, tomorrow Paris, New York the day after... how can these wandering parasites be expected to do right by any country?

I agree! Curious, do they have any voting rights in whatever local community they may occupy? It would be real weird if they could vote for better social systems to assist them, when they make no contributions to it.
It is helpful for her to see both sides of the street but is it progressive to do it in such a way? Would it hurt to try to teach them what and why there is a problem and maybe what they could do to change it?
What happened to you goldengloss was very bad and I find myself feeling anger towards those women that hurt you. I am very sorry 5 women are so cowardly that they can beat up just one. I am also sorry that it has effected you for so long. I do not think that RoseaBellBlues would ever do such a thing. I know you wrote to her and you didn't appreciate her responses. I have written to her and I did not get the same as you. She may feel as if you are blaming her for something that she had nothing to do with. Are you?
This is what I am understanding now... First she starts falling for a guy who winds up being a liar or a scammer which I think hurt her very much and I believe comments made by people in the blogs she has posted also have hurt her. Then she gets treated the way shes being treated where she is now and trying to understand. Can no one see that this woman has a good heart and is reaching out to understand the whys? She is feeling very defensive right now and I cannot say I would not be feeling the same way if I were in her shoes. Let her to find her understanding... she could very well be the diamond in the rough that makes a difference.
Here is my opinion, I know no one asked me but no one specifically asked you either. "Do you think the LANDOWNERS should have the rights to evict the travellers when they turn up and turn a beautiful field into a scrapyard, by whatever means they seem fit? The answer is two parts:
Part one: yes Land owners do have a right to evict people who are on their land without their permission. The term is referred to as "squatting" here in the US and it is against the law to do so. It is also highly disrespectful to go onto other peoples properties and be destructive of property.
Part two: land owners do not have a right to kill people; unless they are defending someone's life.
