Chris Rock feels bad for Will Smith and didn't press charges. Will Smith could have done so much better accepting his Oscars award if he wasn't so emotional. Will Smith made a fool of himself. Assault charges were probably foremost in his thoughts. The joke was in bad taste, even comedians should know that medical problems are off limit, nothing to be laughed at. The smack was assault.
My personal stance on the incident. Yes! I think Will Smith was wrong on what he did but then again Chris Rock was wrong in what he said, especially when it was being Broadcast all over the world. Trying to make a "joke" out of someone with a "certain disorder." (I can't think of the correct word to use at the moment) Just to make people laugh. It was totally uncalled for in my opinion. I can understand Will Smiths reaction, as I would have probably done the same if it was one of my family members that had been "ridiculed". Maybe Chris Rock has never experience having one of his family/friends with a "disorder" being made "fun" of on TV with a world wide audience. I just think that it should be left alone now. Both were in the "wrong" end of ...

I'm sorry but I totally disagree with you there. Will Smith didn't make a fool of himself. He did what many other people would have done. Yes! he was angry, spur of the moment thing. I probably would have acted in the same way, watching and listening to a so called Compere making fun out of my husband/wife/children etc.. regarding something that they are suffering from and especially on a "Awards" night. Would you not do the same for your family?
If Chris Rock wouldn't have opened his big gob, trying to make the audience laugh at the expense of others, then none of this would have happened. Kudos to Will Smith
Will's alter ego got in the way of the persona he shows to the public all the time. The test of a man's anger is how well he holds his temper.
I think this has been blown out of proportion. And now it will be all over the news channels for the next few weeks
If something like this happened at the G20 Summit it would deserve the attention but Smith and Rock are actors from Hollywood. They get their attention when we buy a ticket to their movie and if they are lucky they get a Oscar award.
(Assuming this incident WASN’T “staged”)— the minute an actual assault occurs, the entire environment, atmosphere, geography, changes radically. Laws are strict about assaultive physical contact because a man can kill another person with his bare hands; they are considered a weapon. The joking wasn’t all that bad ( come on people, this pc of everything is freaking ridiculous) and give Rock a break— he didn’t know that she had Alopecia. Poor judgment? Perhaps. But not anywhere near the violence response level. Smith is very, very fortunate that Rock isn’t pressing charges. Did you know LAPD is leaving the door wide open? They WANT Rock to lodge a complaint, and will accept it even at a later date…A friend of mine lives on Catalina. She knows many celebrities. She said that LA is in a whirlwind over it. Many people are ticked off. WAY. It ruined the evening for many people. Two pub restaurants cancelled scheduled after-parties. It’s a bigger mess than you might think. Smith himself is f’d up— close to needing emotional medical attention. Nervous breakdown. He knows it was uncalled for and outrageous. What a jolly mess. ( gee, I love the quiet, forested, windy beach…)

maybe it was wrong, but he was only defending his wife, anyone would have done that, the other guy should not have said what he said.back in the day I wonder would the police be quick to charge Elvis or push to have him charged, if say he hit out at Johnny Cash for making a joke about Pricella or is it one law for ???.and another for???.Hope I am wrong.but???.

Oh my gentle friend…The world has changed VERY dramatically since Elvis and Johnny. There are extremely severe consequences for almost ANY contact anymore. ( it’s absurd, yes…) recently a man was defending himself on Judge Judy. The plaintiff, a woman, had been right in his face ( she wasn’t denying it) as she stepped even closer, he put his hand up, which she stepped into. He did not hit her, nor push her, just protecting his space. A very natural response. But Judge Judy hammered away at him, saying two times, “But you put your hands on her! You can’t do that!” She was dismissive regarding the woman’s behavior. Times are different. You can’t even touch someone in self-defense. And you certainly cannot, with malice afore-thought, get up, walk over, and powerfully slap someone who had NOT raised a hand to you! Can’t do it. All the arguing about “ defending wife’s honor” will not hold water. It’s a different world. Why, you can’t even look at someone the “wrong” way. Dodge is shuttered and the imps are running the ranch. It’s over…the hippie bus broke down. The beatniks bongos have a broken head. It’s a different universe. Cowboy up.
The only scary thing about this is that people belive it to be true and not acting. If you ever have hit or been hit you don't move like Rock did. It's a Hollywood slap.
Someone is joking with your wife while the whole world is watching and some think it's ok? What Will did is called "Enough is enough, there must be a line that shouldn't be crossed"
Will Smith laughing at Chris Rock joke before he goes and hits him. Because everyone knows comedians poke fun at others. Even though I agree that is was off limits, i still believe it was an over reaction by Will Smith and violence wasn't necessary.
ChesneyChrist: Chris Rock took it like a champ and double points for not talking to the police. He avoided not one but two counts of giving yourself to brutes.

He did it beautifully, I genuinely couldn't agree more with how he handled that. That's what cool is, that's the cool that matters.

Well, Jada Pinkett Smith Is actor singer and roast-able like the rest of them. Just because she is Smith's wife doesn't exempt her. It is believed rock did not know about jada's hair issue. There used to be tv programs that roasted celebrities. Quite popular.
I can only imagine the fresh prince of bellend feeling pretty foolish right now. He's supposed to be a somebody. Could you imagine how Will Smith would behave if he was a pathetic lowlife? That's how you behave when life's been incredibly kind to you, is it? Christ Almighty.

Oh, he didn't know, really? Even I knew she had alopecia and I don't even watch TV. I am not saying Smith should have punched him on the stage. And just because Jada is famous it doesn't allow him to joke with her terrible condition? Where are the people who like to talk about tolerance, compassion and understanding?
If you enjoy TV programs roasting people then there's something wrong with you.. . By you mean the society...
Everybody makes mistakes but it sounds like his wife is a right evil manipulative cow. What can you expect when your wife wants an open relationship and you don't? He's clearly slapped Chris the way he wants to hit his wife, he'd hit the men she sleeps with but they're own his size.
But still it goes to show how out of touch a room full of Hollywood weirdoes are with anybody normal.
