It's possibly worse in Florida. When COVID hit, people from the Northeast migrated South. That caused a shortage in real estate and housing prices more than doubled. Rentals are also affected... if you are lucky enough to find a place. Some people around here have relocated to North Carolina where the winters are tolerable and the cost of living is better. My suggestion is do some extensive research before you land in a place and get trapped.

From what I read, swatting is when the police do the investigation. One of the earlier MGT swatts, police were called out for a report of domestic abuse. With her, they know to call ahead to confirm if it's a prank or an incident that needs police intervention. Reports were they showed up anyway and went away with some cookies.
