Standard definition of love: "Love is willing the good of another person."
A loving person will seek to make important, your health, happiness, and growth.
They will be involved in bringing you up to maturity at every level, mentally, physically, spiritually and socially. They are willing to protect you from harm and danger and provide for all your needs.
If a person is willing to seek your highest good in this way, then they truly love you.
In regards, to the image of God in man...The image of God in fallen humans is effaced but not erased. Even unsaved people are said to be in God's image (Genesis 9:6). The image is marred but not eradicated by sin (James 3:9).
God bless!

Blessings to you, friend. In regards, to man being made in the image of God...For example, man is like God, in that they both have existence (similar). The "difference" is that man exists in a finite (limited) way, while God exists infinite (unlimited) way.
As to Isaiah 40:25...Isaiah is not denying all similarity between God and His creatures. Isaiah is simply affirming that the transcendent God is "more than" His creation, even though He is not totally unlike it.
In response to your other question... God was satisfied with what He made, declaring it "very good"(Genesis 1:31).
But in Genesis 6:6-7, God was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain. So the LORD said, "I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth-men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air-for I am grieved that I have made them.
How can both be true, according to your question? These verses speak of humankind at different times and under different conditions. The first deals with humans in the original state of creation. The second refers to the race after the Fall and just before the flood. God is pleased with what He made, but is not happy with what sin has done to His perfect creation.
As to the last verse you quoted...I don't know what chapter you are quoting from? Kingdoms chapter 15:9? What Bible translation are you reading from? I have never heard a chapter in the Bible called "Kingdoms"?
Pleasant to see you! Wow! I am impressed, to hear you quoting from Aristotle.
Thanks for sharing your words of wisdom.

Love is necessary, in accepting one another. For it was the famous Atheist Bertrand Russell who once said... "What the world needs is Christian love or compassion"( from his book: Why I am Not a Christian).
As a Christian, I have to agree with that. But the world cannot have that love, without the Christ.
Thanks for your comments, my friend. God bless!

"Without love we die." Yet there was a study done where babies that were not touched, held, or given love, apparently did die. Many of us, can probably vouch for what happens to our own sense of well-being when love is missing in our own lives. It certainly would not promote happiness and joy. It is like our souls would just shrivel up and wilt away.

Love is seeking & doing the best for the common good, not staying in spiritual stagnation>degradation>regress.
I certainly agree, in regards, to our sanctification, as believers. If we are not growing stronger, then we are growing weaker. May we seek the filling of the Spirit, as we thirst for his righteousness, in and through our lives (Galatians 5:22-24).
Interesting perspective my friend. Personally, I prefer people with inner beauty as well. For it is a quality of beauty that has lasting value, in comparison, to physical beauty.
It is the beauty of spirit that goes beyond the senses, and only few seek it.
It's always a blessing to see you! Thanks for sharing some of your history, for I find it very interesting. Well said, fortinia! I may ask you some questions later on, in reference to what you have shared, for if we don't learn anything from history, we are condemned to repeat it's mistakes.
Thanks for sharing your brief testimony of what the power of God has done in your life. As a Christian, I can see that God has brought you from a mighty long way. Praise God for His amazing grace!
In regards, idolatry...To bow down and pray in front of statues is a act of worship, inspite what Roman Catholics say. With their mouth, they deny that they are worshiping idols, but in practice, that's exactly what they are doing. Obviously contradictory.
In Exodus 20:4...God condemned using objects as a religious act of devotion (worship). For prayer is an act of worship, and only God is to be worshiped (Exodus 20:3; Matthew 4:10). Therefore, praying to anyone other than God is wrong. Nowhere in the Bible are there prayers directed to Mary, Joseph, Peter, or any other saint.
Secondly, Roman Catholism does not emphasize the need to trust in Christ alone as your personal Savoir. For the Bible clearly, emphasize this, (John 3:3: Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:4).
As you know from personal experience, religion does not have the power to change or save anyone. Only Christ can do that! As God he can reach to God and as man he can reach to man, and bring the two of them together.
Hallelujah! God bless you brother!

Thanks for stopping by. Perhaps, you should consider Christ not religion. For religion in itself, cannot change the heart, only God can do that. Even Jesus predicted that there would be those who have a said faith, but not a real faith (Matt. 7:21). Had I focused on people rather God, I would have missed the boat, in regards, to my salvation.
God bless you!

What I can say from my own experience is that I was open to the Bible. I had an open mind to reading it and God worked on my heart to bring me to that point in my life, that I would come to trust in Him. I encourage you to read the Bible with an open mind, for then you will discover what Peter said was true, concerning Christ..."Lord to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life" (John 6:68).
Now that I have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ, my life is eternally secure. And that's what gives me the peace and joy which the world can never take away. Since I have been touched by God's love, I can share love with others. That includes even my enemies. Thank you Jesus!
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).
God's love and blessing to everyone at CS! Serendipity.
