Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4).
That's encouraging to know, in the midst of opposition from the world, and also, the daily battles we struggle with, in crucifying the old sinful nature that is opposed to God and allowing God's new nature to reign in us, through the power of the Holy Spirit. Only when one accepts Christ as their Lord (Master), and Savior will one no longer have sin, as their master (Romans 6:6-14).
When it comes down to it, all are given a choice either to believe God's truth or man's lies. As for me, and my household we will serve the Lord (Joshua 24:15).
God bless!

As to God being full of mercy forever, I believe God remains unchanging in his eternal attributes, in relation, to changing, finite creatures. For God is both wrathful and merciful and when one repents there is real change in his relationship with the unchanging God. When a person repents of his sin, he moves from under the unchanging attribute of God's wrath to under the unchanging attribute of God's mercy. Thanks for stopping by.
Growing up shy in my upbringing and being raised as an only child, I am familiar with fear. When I became a Christian in my adult life I found comfort and strength in overcoming fear with faith.
For faith is being sure what you hope for and certain of what we cannot see (Hebrews 11:1).
Having the present assurance of my eternal salvation, gives me certainty to believe that God is in control of all things, including every detail of my life, and that no matter what happens to me, I will forever be in His presence for all eternity.
In my life..."I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears (Psalms 34:4)."
Through prayer and studying the Bible, I can be always be reminded of what the palmist prayed to God, when he said..."When I am afraid, I will put my trust you (Psalms 56:3)."
The council of Nicea (325 A.D.) did not deal with canonical questions regarding, which books belonged in the Bible, such as you have suggested, (the Roman Emperor creating and determining the canon of the Bible)? Lol. But rather, the Council of Nicea dealt with a heresy known as Arianism (held by modern day Jehovah's witnesses and Christadelphians).
I agree Jim, for apart from God, there is no objective meaning, and as a result, man through his own efforts, tries to subjectively "determine" his own meaning for why he is here, apart from a Meaner (God), through which we "discover" life's ultimate purpose and meaning for our lives, that has lasting value for time and eternity.
Good blog!
God bless!

There is an important difference between when a New Testament book was accepted as "canonical" and when the Christian church in general eventually recognized it. It misleading if one does not see this important distinction.
For the historical evidence clearly demonstrates that virtually all the New Testament books were recognized and cited by some Church Father or canon within the first century or so after the New Testament was completed. For instance, by AD 182 to 188, during the time of Irenaeus, every book except the tiny one-chapter book of 3 John was accepted. Of course, since travel and communication was slow, not all the books were recognized everywhere until the Council of Hippo (AD 393).
Canonicity is determined or established authoritatively by God, and is merely discovered by man.
What if it is God's prerogative how He decides to do things, and that we as finite creatures ought not question the infinite ways of the Creator, whose judgments and paths are beyond tracing out (Roman 11:33-34).
As to your question regarding the existence of Jesus and Pilate, I refer you to my past blog titled "Archaeology and the Bible," which you will find on my blog list.
Reading the rest of the passage, in context, we see that when Jesus was being arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus told Peter to put down his sword and said...
Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? But how then would the scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way (Matthew 26:52-54)?
Jesus had everything to do with God, in perfect obedience to the Father's will (Matt. 26:42). For in the incarnation, Jesus the eternal Son of God, set aside His independent use of His divine attributes and took on human form in humble obedience to the Father's will, in accomplishing our salvation at the cross, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:6-11).
Nicely said Sista! Hope you had a great Christmas?
To me love is a commitment. And that the source of love is personal (God). Therefore, the closer two people draw toward God (Love's source), the closer they draw toward one another. My love for others is only as good as my willingness to allow God to work in and through me, in seeking someone's highest good (love).
God bless!

Love is always right! For love is willing the good of another person.
Thanks for sharing of our Saviour's birth. Very fitting, in celebration of the One true God and Saviour Jesus Christ. For Jesus is the reason for the season. Glory to God in the highest!!!
In the midst of a decaying world the message of Christ is more relevant than ever. Great blog!
Have a blessed Christmas and a wonderful New Year! Serendipity
For this holiday season centers on the One (Christ) who is the center of the Christmas story. "Glory to God in the highest, and peace to men on whom his favor rests (Luke 4:13)." Happy Birthday Jesus!
Have a wonderful, blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year! Serendipity
I hear you. It's moments like that, that we thank God that the resurrection is true! Unlike those with without hope, we have hope that we will see our love ones (those who have trusted in Christ) again, in glorified resurrection bodies that will never die. For this is the promise that all Christians have, in regards, to the afterlife (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).
In reading the Parable of the Sower, I believe that the soil (ground) represents the human heart. And that those who are sincerely open to truth, will allow the truth of God's Word to take root in their heart and in their life, therefore, producing good fruit (Matthew 13:23).
I agree brother. It important for those (especially singles) who are going through lonely times that though they may feel lonely, they are not alone. For God is always with them (eternally present), to comfort them and strengthen them with His infinite love, in whatever circumstance they find themselves in.
Love and comfort do their work, and you become reconnected to life and can move on. You can trust God, be real with Him, and get the good that God wants for you that can transform sadness into joy.

Good message in how important it is take inventory of our own hearts, in regards, to withholding love and forgiveness from those who sincerely seek it. Though we were undeserving sinners ourselves under God's judgement, God did not withhold His love for us, by offering His Son to take the judgement for sin, in our place, so that God's forgiveness can be released, and His justice satisfied.
May love prevail in our hearts. Thanks for sharing. Good blog!
I think we can both agree, that the Bible (66 books of Old & New Testament) are God inspired and thus authentic. My response was in reference, to the authenticity of the alleged lost books of the Bible.
My argument for the completeness of the Bible was based on the very character of God Himself. For an all- knowing, all-good, and all- powerful God would not inspire books for faith and practice of believers down through the centuries and then fail to preserve them (so called, lost books of the Bible).
Lost inspired books would be a lapse in God's providence, don't you think?
