In seeing Jesus wash His disciples feet, I am reminded of the verse where He says, "Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant" (Mark 10:43). In His actions, Jesus was giving us an example, of our need for humility, in serving one another, in love.
Like water, God's Word can have a cleansing effect in us, when we wash one another spiritually, with His purifying Word.
Though God knew for sure (predestined) how Judas' would" freely" betray Christ, He permitted, and used Judas' evil choice, to accomplish "His greater good" (our salvation).
Guess what? God is still in Sovereign control!
Thanks for sharing a good and meaningful blog topic..
I do not think I have arrived in my understanding of Jesus teachings to the point, that everything is self-evident. As a finite, limited being, I am always learning and growing in the knowledge of my Savior, and in turn, share with others what He has graciously shared with me.
Regarding, the Prayer of Jesus... "In it's simplicity it seems adapted purposely for the weakness of the inexperienced and ignorant, and yet none can say that he is familiar with the heights and depths which it reveal, and with treasures of wisdom it contains....And as in our lifetime we must confess ourselves, with Luther, to be only learning the high and deep lessons of those petitions, so it will take eternity to give them their answer (Philip Ryken, When you Pray ,9)."
Inspite, of being non-Christian, I'm delighted to hear that the teachings of Christ appeal to you in some kind of way.
God bless!

If your keeping count of how many emoticons bloggers use on each post, then why do you single me out (only my blog), when the majority of the blogs seem not to keep count? Can you answer that?

I couldn't imagine not being thankful for what God has given, in praying, to the Giver of all good gifts (James 1:17).
Thanks for sharing this important event, concerning Jesus Triumphal Entry. For it would be His last major public appearance before His crucifixion on the cross, for our sins.
Good blog. This is one of my favorite topics, in regards, to the essentials of the Christian faith. Essential in the sense, that faith is absolutely necessary for salvation. As fallen sinful human beings we cannot earn or deserve God's favor, through our own good works. Therefore, we must trust solely (faith), on God's grace to save us. For we have been saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone (Eph. 2.8:-10).
We are saved not by works, but by the kind of faith that ends up producing works (James 2:18-20).
Or to put it another way, "good works" is not the root, but the fruit of our salvation.
It is interesting to see God move in and through your situation, before you made any move, towards asking what you needed from your doctor. Lol. Praise God, in His response to your prayer!
They say seeing is believing. Well, the father of the boy believed first (faith), then he saw the results of his faith, when he trusted in Jesus....words...."Your son lives."
Though "everything is permissible" not everything is beneficial (Cor. 10:23), is a good principle, to apply to things that are not directly mentioned in Scripture.
Even if a Christian and non-Christian freely decided to date, and possibly fall in love with one other, it still would not remove the reality that they are "relationally" incompatible in terms of their "core beliefs," since they would lack common ground, if they choose to live "consistently," with what they believe.
Though one is free to do it: "As for me, I rather use my head, when it comes to matters of the heart."
Thanks for sharing an interesting blog. God bless!
Thanks for the thumbs up. Indeed, the prayer of Jesus is the best of all modeled prayers, since it serves as the pattern, for our own prayers, in communicating with our loving heavenly Father.
God bless!

Happy to see you.
I agree, prayer is a need that our souls long for. For our soul is restless until it finds it's rest in God. And if God is for us, who can be against us (Romans 8:31-36)? As believers we are more than conquerors through him who loved us (verse 37).
Prayer is power, indeed. Thanks for your lovely prayer Callie! For it's a humbling fact, to know that God would use our prayers to accomplish His purposes on earth, so that in the end, He get's His glory in heaven.
Thanks for sharing your perspective on prayer, for your right on target, regarding this topic. Glory to Jesus!
God bless!

Thanks sir.
I can't remember any of my blogs that received a perfect thumbs up.
"Who truly loves you will always allow you to be, not condition thee to make her happy at the expense of your individuality."
I agree, that a person who truly loves you will accept you for who you are, rather, than place conditions on you to live up to something your not. For in the end, they will not be loving you, but another person. For one cannot have true love, without truth (honesty).
Rather than being mere coincidence, "God's Word, will not return to Him empty, but will accomplish what He desires and achieve the purpose for which He sent it (Isaiah 55:11)."
For the Bible continuously demonstrates itself to be Divine, rather than human in origin (2 Peter 1:20-21). Thanks for sharing this!
Jesus clearly affirms that the "first" and "greatest" commandment is over the "second," since loving God is of supreme importance (our vertical duty), and then beneath that comes loving one's neighbor (our horizontal duty). Vertically, we are to love God with our whole selves. Horizontally, we are to love others as we love our selves.
For Jesus said it Himself... "I am the way and the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6)."
In claiming to be the only way to the one true God, Jesus was affirming that His way is true. And the opposite of true is false (law of non-contradiction).
