Eyewitnesses to the Resurrection of Christ

To add...These eyewitnesses were willing to give their lives for the truth they proclaimed, even under the threat of death. While many people will die for a lie that they think is truth, no sane person will die for what they know is a lie. The New Testament writers and the other apostles knew for sure that Jesus had resurrected, and they demonstrated that knowledge with their own blood. What more could eyewitnesses do to prove that they are telling the truth!

God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).

Since you base what your saying, solely on your subjective opinion, then no one has to take what your saying to be objectively true, since you have "no objective bases," for saying that religion is nonsense. grin

"For the unexamined life is not worth living"- Socrates

I like to add that the unexamined faith is not worth believing. For a rational person needs evidence that something is true before they place their faith in it.

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him (Hebrews 11:6).

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart (Jeremiah 29:13).

IMO religion is nonsense, that is simply fact.

How can that be a fact, if it's based merely on your opinion? Is all truth relative to one's opinion?

Love and Capital Punishment

Guzman1

Hello sir.

In reference to your question, it is interesting to note that God gave the power of capital punishment to human government. There was capital punishment before the time of Noah, but it was left to relatives to avenge the murderer (Genesis 4:14). By instituting capital punishment, God took justice out of the families of the deceased and placed the sword in the hands of human government (Genesis 9:6). In this way justice could be more objectively exercised by eliminating the personal revenge factor and the emotional anger.

RE: Angels

Nice blog, Sharnah.thumbs up

I look forward to one day joining the angels in a song of praise and worship to God...

After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb.

They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: "Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb." All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures.

They fell down down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying: "Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God forever and ever. Amen!" (Revelation 7:9-12).

Can you imagine what this will be like? Over 100 million angels and untold millions of the redeemed, singing praises to God in perfect unity and harmony.yay

Thanks for your kind words, in regards, to my blog. For you bring a balanced positive perspective, in how you share and express your thoughts, which is much appreciated. thumbs up cheering

Years ago my mother received the sad news that her father died. Back then he lived in Puerto Rico while my mother lived in Pa. At that time my mother was not a Christian. However, during the lowest point in her life (as she described it), she was more open to listening to the Bible's message, in how we can know for sure, that we will live with God forever in heaven (1 John 5:13). Even, before her father's death I would always try to share with her about Jesus Christ, but my mother would tell me, "I am older than you, and more experienced, what can you tell me about life."laugh However, my mother's attitude changed when she saw her need for God, in the midst of losing someone closest to her. She became a Christian as a result, of her traumatic experience of losing a loved one and was able to keep it together and remain strong in going to Puerto Rico to bury her dad, while her brother (my uncle) who was not a Christian completely fell apart at the seams. He was so overwhelmed and traumatized of losing his dad that he passed out and ended up in a hospital from all the stress.

When the doctors checked him out, they found out that there was nothing physically wrong with him, and that the cause of his "passing out" was emotionally and psychologically induced. At the time, I didn't even know that was even possible to do. laugh

My mother told me that when she needed God the most He was there, and that her personal relationship with God, gave her the peace, strength, and security she needed to get through the traumatic experience of losing her father. In my mother's own words..."Without God she could have never done it."

Happy People Have Faith

Hello linsyjones

Not at all. That's not the intent or message of this blog, since believer's and non-believers alike share in experiencing happiness in life. Lol. What I am sharing is that happiness is a by-product of a life of faith, and that it helps us better to overcome traumas in our lives, when it is centered in the One who gives objective meaning to life (God).

Though happiness comes and goes and is subject to change, the source of our lasting happiness never changes, since our happiness is not dependent on changing experiences, but in the unchanging of God, who is the anchor of our faith.

God bless!

Happy People Have Faith

So begin with that simple step, and see for yourself that His words are true, that if you seek Him, you will find Him and a lot more (Jeremiah 29:13).

RE: Scriptural reference to Gods love for man

Hello sister Sharnah!

Very nice blog! Only when we have a godly fear (reverence) for who God is, will we understand and appreciate His love for us. Jesus said... "Greater love has no one than this: that he lay down his life for his friends (John 15:13)." This what Jesus did for us on the cross, when saved us from God's wrath, so that guilty sinners can be declared righteous, on the basis of faith alone in Jesus Christ alone.

RE: Do we have FREE WILL?

Hello friend, I'm back. grin

As to the second part of your question...

I think it is helpful to distinguish between what is necessary to believe in all ages and what is necessary to believe today.

Why do we have to separate the two? Because of progressive revelation. Because when God adds a new revelation we're responsible for it, just as when the government adds a new law your responsible to keep it, once it's promulgated. Ignorance of the law is no excuse.

So in the process of revelation God has revealed more in the content that is necessary to believe today.

What is necessary to believe in all ages...

1. Human depravity (you wouldn't come unto God if you thought you can do it on your own, so it implies depravity). Romans 3:11-18.

2. God's unity (your coming unto God , not small gods, but God).

3. Necessity of grace (you must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder to those who earnestly seek Him (Hebrews 11:6).

4. Necessity of faith (trusting that God can save us and accepting His free gift of salvation).

So if you ask me to give the universal content of the gospel, what people have to believe in every age and every stage and every dispensation? There's nobody anywhere at any time who didn't have to believe that they were sinful, that there was one true God, that grace was necessary and expressed their faith in that!

What is necessary to believe this age, right now?

According to the New Testament four more things you need to believe today...

1. Christ deity.

2. Christ humanity.

3. Christ atonement.

4. Christ bodily resurrection.

In other words, There is one God, we are sinners, Christ is God, Christ is man, Christ died for our sins, Christ rose from the dead, we are saved by God's grace, and we must believe that Christ did this for us.

Good questions my friend. God bless you!

RE: JESUS CHRIST IS THE ONLY WAY TO ETERNAL LIFE

Hey sister Sharnah.

Nice blog!applause

Jesus is only one way to the one true God.

I also like to add these words from Jesus...Very truly I tell you...anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber...I am the gate; whoever enters though me will be saved. They will come in and go out and find pasture (John 10:1,9).

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).

God bless!teddybear

Socrates

It is true that there is no salvation apart from the redemptive work of Christ, and that there is no way to be saved without believing in Christ (Acts 4:12; Romans 10:9; John 3:16).

So I guess the million dollar question is, "Is it just to condemn those who have never heard the gospel?" The answer is, Yes. For three reasons.

First, everyone has received God's general revelation. For they know about His eternal power and divine nature which is clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that they are without excuse (Romans 1:20).

They are informed that He "made heaven and earth and sea and everything in them. (Acts 14:15). They are aware that God has not left Himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons (Acts 14:17)." Again, although they do not have the law, nevertheless,

All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law...indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law (of Moses), since they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts (Romans 2:12, 14-15).

Second, God has revealed Himself to the unevangelized both in creation and in conscience. If they reject the light, God is not obligated to give them more, since they have turned against the light they already have (Romans 1:18). If man were lost in the darkness of a dense jungle and had just one glimpse of light, he should go for it. However, if he turns his back on it and then is forever lost in the blackness, he has no one but himself to blame: "This is the verdict: Light has come into the world but men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil (John 3:19)."

Third, God will provide them with special revelation sufficient for salvation if they seek Him through the general revelation. Broadly this can be done in at least two ways: (1) sending a believer to share the gospel with them or (2) using dreams, visions, and specific special revelation.

From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out to him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us (Acts 17:26-27).

Seek and you will find. handshake

RE: Where is Heaven located?

Hello Socrates

Rather than a mere state of mind, I believe heaven is a real place. Jesus used the word "place" three times in regards, to heaven in John 14:2-4. He taught us to pray to "our Father in heaven," and that His will would be done "on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:9-10).

As for where heaven is located, I believe that heaven is in an entirely different physical dimension. For Jesus seemed to step in and out of this space-time dimension when He was in His resurrection body (Luke 24:31; John 20:26). Hope you find this helpful.

RE: "What does the Bible say about feminism?

Hey sister.wave

Women are equal with men by nature, for both are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). Though women are functionally different, in respect, to their different function within the family and in the church, it does not mean they are inferior. It just simply means that God has equipped men and women differently for different roles in both the home and the church (1 Corinthians 11:3). handshake

How are you sir.

Deuteronomy 22:5 prohibited a man from wearing any feminine clothing or ornamentation, or a woman from wearing any item of masculine clothing or ornamentation (i.e. transvestism). Though cultural customs may differ, the command to not blur the distinction between a man and a woman, remains the same, for God created men to be men and women to be women.

In other words, the command was simply to not blur the distinction between a man and woman.

As to your question concerning heaven, I believe heaven is an actual place (John 14:2-3), in another physical dimension, where believers will one day be face to face with God.
