"I think America is simply too private to capitalise on the selfless things people might do."
That is an interesting concept.
But there is a belief that people can become power drunk. The powerful wealthy people have positioned themselves into very important position...hence they are powerful. If they are in love with their powerful self, and are drunk, surely with their important positions...they will try and preserve their sense of "power high"...as they have been successful for many years. With this virus...if it is 100% and not man made...the reality of just how important, powerful, and wealthy these people are...might come knocking on their door. If 100% natural, this virus will hold most..if not all accountable to being just a human.
They say that a human exists in 3 parts: mind, body, spirit.
The virus is playing its part on the body....for sure.
I am a believer that we do exist in more than one part (the body).
The proof for me was when I was studying for trying to become a better pool player. Some professional pool players say that playing pool is a large portion mental. So, when studying the mental aspect of the game....I discovered that the raised level of the heart rate would interfere with vision and feeling. Pool is also a game of sight and feel. So...without going into many details. There is more that exists to us than just the physical....from my personal exploration. The mind surely exists....separately from the body...I don't know if it can live outside of the body on its own (although I have scene movies allude to this when hooked up to machines), but I do know it can do things that I was not conscious of. (for example....breathing).
Anyway...this might be for another blog...
One final thing....so if we can prove humans existing as 2 things....perhaps the 3rd might be there as well and prayer does have some sort of validity to it.
The people I speak to around here all know that this is a serious issue, and Trump's projection of having things turning around by Easter is a very far stretch. But...it is some hope...in a time where it seems that is about all we have at the moment.
I don't think now is the time to really be going after our President Trump. He is our President and the guy who is in charge. We have no say about that. I think we can only be encouraging and if for any reason we think we got somebody in ANY office, we can be smarter voters next time around.
Just another thought.....it would have been very expensive to prepare for some sort of pandemic. However, after a thought, I think it would depend on the shelf life of supplies. I wonder how long masks would last in careful storage?
I wonder how long other things/equipment/protective clothing the shelf life would be in careful storage.
I would not care, if I was laying on an ICU bed, if the equipment was 20 years old that was keeping me breathing...as long as it was working.
Preparing for something like this could have been down a little each year.
We certainly prepare for physical wars with the latest and greatest weapons.
...anyway, just a thought.
A lot would depend on the shelf life of the equipment. But...perhaps they could be designed and packaged with that in mind.
There is no question about it, he has some very difficult decisions to make. I like that he is business minded, business requires successful decisions to be made. I will say though...that made me a bit alarmed about him. He seems to have a temper. One thing I don't think is good, is making decisions from a state of being angry.
Thanks Pom for the leeks offer. They sound like they would be something to look forward too, I am just a hesitant guy with giving my address out. I guess I am paranoid like that.
2may, I enjoyed reading what you wrote....and from what I know, seems to be pretty accurate.
There is one thing I was disagree a bit with, about money buying elections. You are right about that as well...the politician who raises the most dollars, has the best chances of advancing. However, we seen this year with Bloomberg, with his billions, he was unable to buy it. So...there is some hope in that department.
Thanks for sharing your point of view.
We do have to stand together now, and I feel as a world we will be the better for it too.
I agree with Trump about the cure being worse than the illness....but how can you justify allowing people to pass.....ever. Okay, it happens in war. But, this is slightly different. In war, it is for a grand cause, here..it is over money.
Hello Fargo.....true about voting, you need to select correct.
I will say this, for whatever it is worth....I would rather a leader of a country that is in very good standing with much of the rest of the world when some sort of global pandemic happens to show up.
Yes...population density does play a role with this. Molly mentioned about Italy and also their culture of living together and kissing.
This blog was brought up with consideration to China as well. We all know they have a much bigger population than we do, and lower reported numbers. So...if they are indeed not being honest with their numbers, that explains that. However...them lying...is just speculation right now, other than some reported satellite pictures of lines at hospitals there.
Hello Pat. I am no expert, but just by listening to what doctors are saying, I doubt things will be over by Easter too.
However, with all fairness, Trump is thinking about opening the country up for business in areas that have not be severely hit by the virus. If he can manage to do that, more power to him. From what I see on the news, this is a highly contagious virus and I don't know how one would stop it from spreading in an area where business is going on like normal and a couple people in that population have the virus.
Thank you for sharing some of those facts. I am with you....as far as being baffled is concerned....you bring up some good points and some things that should not be overlooked as well.
It is easy for me to sit back here...after the fact and play armchair quarterback...while we are in the middle of this thing. Fair.
But, we citizens of this beautiful country, are in some cases, forced to buy insurance. What is insurance for? Well...just in case something bad happens, we are covered.
U.S.A.....making it great again
