Have to say, I agree with you. I have plucked out some interesting looking threads on here in the last couple of weeks, only to find that after a short while it turns into a silly "Hallo, Babe", "Yeah, me too" type of thread. Its frustrating. Sometimes you just want to have a good conversation about the actual subject of the thread. There are, as you say, chat rooms available for general ya de ya..
Whats everyone doing to keep warm in the freeze thats hit us at mo? Im sitting here with about 10 layers on, under a sleeping bag, only getting up to feed my ESB meter!!
Just think we all kinda set a precedent for ourselves, and now we are paying for it a little. Employers know they can get away with paying as little as possible. Now we are prepared to accept minimum wage, its too late for lots of Irish people.
Thats exactly my point. Unfortunately alot of Irish wouldnt work for less than a certain wage, because they hoped something better was round the corner. In the meantime, foreign people came over and snapped them up, glad of anything, even minimum wage.
Now, things are a little different, and we would too be glad of anything.
Im not advocating lowly wages, but I think in alot of cases we all got above ourselves a little a few years ago, thinking we could have anything we wanted.
Im having to probably move abroad to get a secretarial job, even though Ive been doing it for over 20 years and am very experienced. Its the emmigration thing all over again. Very sad.
I try to be understanding, but I DO find it a tad annoying when you walk into shops these days, and struggle to find an employee who speaks English. No Irish people seem to have preference these days. Just seems so unfair, somehow..
Trouble is, back in the days of the Celtic Tiger, most "meneal" jobs had to be taken by immigrants, as the natives wouldnt take them - too lowly. Seems we are getting our comeuppance, a little. JMO
I also think, in relation to the thread, that it can come across as a bit suspicious if someone only wants to meet during the week. It makes you wonder if they are married, committed to someone else, perchance??!
Thanks. Im actually actively looking on this site for a guy nearer my own age, as it seemed more natural, but I CERTAINLY love my younger friend to death, and would not be without him..
Yes, I guess its different if you have kids in their 20s..
I dont have any kids, so i suppose its not an issue for me, should it ever happen.
I do find the older I get, the more I think that "life is for living", and age is just a number, so as long as it is healthy for ME, I will consider it.
Guys these days seem to own their own businesses earlier, have kids earlier and own their own houses earlier - with all the problems and joys that come with these things. And good luck to them, I say..
I just think that SOMETIMES younger guys are given a bad rep.
That can be true, yes. Ive had some sick experiences with younger guys perving, but I think some of them should be given a chance. You can usually pick out the wasters pretty quickly.
One good thing about younger guys is, they generally in my experience have less baggage, and are more open and honest about their intentions and feelings.. Not generalising, just my experience.
I happen to agree with DecentDub. I actually have stayed in touch with a 29 year old guy, who has turned out to be more mature, more sensitive and more caring than 90% of the guys of my own age group.
I know there are some eedjits out there who want a mammy figure, but i do have to say that there are SOME younger guys who are genuine, and simply dont want a "hair straightening clone". He made this comment himself; meaning that most of the younger gals these days look the same, and have limited conversation..
He has never perved on me, never pushed me and it is most refreshing to have him as a friend..
