I personally DO envy people with excessive wealth. Not because Im greedy, or shallow, but because having money gives you choice. Choice to do things that you couldnt do without it. Choice to decide what you want to do with your life, rather than be forced into some mind-numbing, boring job purely because you have to pay the bills.
It not excessive wealth that makes people bad, its the mind set of the person with the money.
Money can be used for good, as well as evil..
I like to think of myself as an intelligent, kind-hearted person. That wouldnt change just because I had money.
I also envy my cat right now, who has a fur coat on her, and its mighty chilly here...
The acceptance - and yes, I do mean acceptance - of a lone woman sitting in a bar/pub varies from country to country and culture to culture.
Speaking of my own experiences, I know of pubs in Ireland that still frown on women in their entirety coming in - amazing in the 21st century, but it does still exist!
Obviously, it depends upon the country you are living in, and their views on women. There are certain countries in the world where it is still unacceptable for a woman to go into a bar because of that country's religious beliefs and culture. If youre in a foreign country, you just have to accept their culture, in my opinion..
Living where I do, I am able and do like to go into any bar I choose, on my own. I dont go in to "pull", I go in to listen to the live music, read a paper whilst supping a pint, have a chat about current events maybe, etc.
I have, on occasion, been made to feel uncomfortable by people staring at me, but that's of no consequence to me.
Its up to the individual lady to decide where and when to go and to be aware of the bars where you would be just asking for trouble to go in on your own. No point in making problems for yourself, so just be discerning in your choice of venue.

There's a saying..."All Horn and No Drive Shaft"...
Says it all, really...
