RE: FOR PALESTINE

Ancient Palestine fell apart a long time ago too though... also it's interesting to note that Ancient Palestine not only includes the land of the current Palestinian Territories and Israel, but also large chunks of Jordan, Syria and Lebanon... so when were those 3 countries going to give up the parts of Ancient Palestine that they occupy? Or is it only Israel that is supposed to relinquish the land? Funny that.... confused

If you really want to delve deeply into the history of that area, go to:

That land has been conquored by just about everybody and their brother and in-laws I swear! It gave me a headache just trying to make sense of it all... TMI! tmi

When it all comes down to the wire though, possession is 9/10's of the law as they say.

RE: FOR PALESTINE

And the Palestinians blow up women and small children in buses... and that makes everything right I presume? Which came 1st, the chicken or the egg? dunno

There's an ancient proverb that says "2 wrongs don't make a right". Both the Palestinians and the Israelies are wrong, and neither is a friend or ally of the United States so I really couldn't care less what they do to one another.

There will not be peace in the Middle East until everyone there is dead and gone. They don't want peace, they only want each other dead... I say let them go at it. The human race will be just fine without either of them.

- Michael

RE: FOR PALESTINE

I've no sympathy for people who send suicide bombers to board public buses and blow them up! The Palestinian's consider them to be heros... I consider them to be terrorist.

You do recall that on 9/11/2001 the Palestinian's went out and paraded in the streets celebrating the attacks on America that day, right? scold While the Trade Center Towers burned and thousands died, the Palestinian's partied (it was on CNN broadcast live at one point during that morning I'll never forget).

They are a psychologically flawed people and there is no fixing that unfortunately.

Neither the Palestinian's nor the Israelies are our friends (Google USS Liberty for that story). I'd have no problems with just letting them wipe each other out in all honesty. It would be good riddence to bad rubbish all around.

RE: My Name Is MUD.....

Well, I'm not sure I would have used that term to describe them to their faces but I do think I would have inquired just how many more dogs they intend to kill before putting up a gate on their property... roll eyes

Honestly though, some people should have neither children nor pets. They simply lack any sense of responsibility. doh

ps. You're totally in your rights to be be pissed at them... it's akin to animal cruelty what they've been doing and it's totally irresponsible.

RE: would you ever consider getting a big cat,to keep as a pet?

That is, such a bad bad idea! Big cats (as well as other animals that can easily maul if not kill and eat you!) should only be in the wild or raised and kept by people trained and equipped to deal with them (ie. zoos and sanctuaries).

The general idiot who is only looking for something cool to have, is only going to get himself/herself and perhaps others hurt if not killed, and then the animal itself will likely be killed... nobody wins, and the animal is the only 1 who had no choice in the scenario!

Not long ago, some people who were keeping 2 pet tigers not far from where I live accidentally left the pen door unlatched and the tigers got out and loose in the neighborhood... needless to say, a few dogs were killed by the tigers, people in the area were terrified, and the tigers were both finally found and shot dead (you'd think somebody would have brought tranqilizer guns and used them instead, but heck no they used live ammunition on the terrified animals!). Unfortunately, the cat's owners didn't even face any charges for this fiasco and it makes me furious that they even had the big cats and were so very careless with them... and the cats are both dead now.

Large predatory animals (as well as smaller venomous reptiles and spiders) should not be allowed to be kept as pets... it's wrong, people too often get hurt and the animals if not mistreated often end up dead for no good reason.

What really get's me miffed is that I have to pay the state here nearly $100 a year for a permit to keep the orphaned baby raccoons people bring me. I'm inspected regularly by game warden's, have to show I'm taking good care of the kiddos and have all the pen doors padlocked and latched 3 different ways... yet if I wanted a pet tiger, giant constrictor snake, venomous spiders or whatever I could get one with no permits required whatsoever here! Dogs maul far more people every year in this state than raccoons ever will, and yet dogs require no permit either! It's insane. frustrated

RE: Barack Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize

You should take that up with YOUR government, not ours. That is an internal Iranian problem. What do you expect us to do, invade Iran to keep it's government from killing it's own citizens? Get real! A whole LOT more of your citizens would die and then you'd really have a reason to blame us!

Your government's brutal crackdown on the protestors there was condemned by just about everybody around the world... but other than condemning, there's not alot more anybody else could do. If the US and/or other nations were to invade Iran, then that would in itself legitimize everything your government was saying about foreigners being behind the protests to begin with.

Only you can change your country. And yes, it'll cost lives to do so. Change on this scale rarely comes without a high price.

Good luck and best wishes!

RE: Barack Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize

Good grief! This is a lot premature if you ask me... while President Obama has been putting forth some efforts toward peace, building bridges with other nations and the like, it's wayyy too soon to know if he's going in the right direction or not! uh oh

This might have been more appropriate in 2011 or 2012 IF President Obama's efforts were showing real progress. But right now... this is just plain silly IMHO. confused

RE: Cold in Texas in September!

My coonies better be safe now! mumbling

Last night while lifting weights on my backporch (still in the 80's here last night), I heard a noise and turned to look and there was my wild momma raccoon trying hard to sneak up to the porch to look into the food bowl to see if I'd put the food out yet... when I turned and looked at her, she went "Eeeek!" and high-tailed it back into the darkness of the yard, grunting and snorting the whole way (ie. calling her kitts to her... the 3 kitts must've been waiting in the darkness for mom to check out the food bowls). I laughed so hard, I almost dropped the freeweights I was lifing! rolling on the floor laughing

After I finished my workout I put a couple cups of Beneful food out in the backporch bowls and within a few minutes momma and 3 kitts ran up and started chowing down (I was sneaking a peak thru the back door window). Oh those little kitts are monsters I swear... they all 3 want the same bowl of food and try to all get IN the bowl with the food at the same time! It's like playing king of the foodbowl or something! I love watching them, they're little terrors I swear. grin

Hope you get to feeling better soon hun. Tis the height of allergy season, I'm feeling it myself and popping sudafed's daily now. Ughhhh!

thumbs up thumbs up

Excellant points! I couldn't agree more. While I wish the best for everyone, I am getting a little sick of being told that *I* am not worth much because *I* don't want to even try to date a woman with kids. It wasn't *I* who hooked up with Mr. Wrong and had his children... Hello! Here's your sign!

You ladies will never know what *I* am worth, because you chose Mr. Wrong instead. blues

Re-read #4 above, it speaks volumes and volumes. MJames hit the nail on the head there. I've been given every excuse in the book by women who've had children with the very worst of men and I'm just really tired of hearing it I swear.

There's countries outside of Texas? I had no idea! wow

I'd like to visit Austin sometime... I've seen pictures and it looks like a really nice place. Lake Travis is very scenic, when it's actually full of water (severe drought over there this summer really dropped the lake level to extremes!).

1 in 3 Americans are medically obese, as I recall the statistic reported on the evening news recently. It's ridiculous! frustrated

You see these guys coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan with their limbs blown off, and they get artificial limbs and go out and run marathons and stuff working to stay fit... if they can do it, I have to wonder what's the excuse of those 1 in 3 obese Americans huh? You got legs, go walking more and eat a bit less. But noooo, that would take effort and nobody want's to put in effort anymore! sigh

RE: chinese products are..

Some is absolute junk, some is good though... there needs to be a poll option for Both. But anyways...

Does anybody else remember when it seemed like almost everything was being made in Japan? Now that everything is made in China, what are the Japanese doing I have to wonder??? confused

I for 1 would rather not buy products produced in China if I have the choice (which seems rarer and rarer these days). Tainted goods from China have caused thousands of pet deaths in America (kidney failure because of a chemical additive put in dog food to increase it's protein percentage, I believe that was), lead paint on toys and such. Plus, though I realize the Chinese workers need the jobs, I'm not at all sure the Chinese companies take good care of their workers or even care if their workers live or die while producing these goods!

I did NOT agree with President Bush giving China "favored trade nation" status! I thought and still think that's a bad idea.

RE: Americans are viewed around the world as

Well, I know historically that both World Wars began on your side of the pond in Europe... and I know that American's wanted more than anything to stay OUT of both World Wars, but got dragged into those conflicts anyways. Good going Europeans!

You can have my gun just as soon as you can pry it from my cold dead fingers. tongue

It's funny, the people who commit crimes in America are usually the ones who have illegally acquired guns... legal gun owners aren't the ones committing crimes here, yet so many people think we're crazy for wanting to legally own firearms. What gives?

I hate guns personnally, they're loud brute force weapons, but I do have one in the house for personal protection in spite of that. I hope to never have to fire it, but I'd rather have the thing and not need it than need it and not have it! uh oh

If I needed it I certainly wouldn't hesitate to use the thing. In just the past week there've been several home invasion robberies in the Houston TX area where homeowners have had to use deadly force to protect themselves. It's a sad state of our society that we've such a large criminal population living amongst us... but we're working on thinning them out, you might say, one or two at a time. Breaking into somebody's home is not a safe occupation around here...
