RE: What was the best piece of advice you have ever had.?

In today's world it's gluten intolerance, IBS, Crohn's or a host of other symptoms because no one will trust their gut professor

RE: What was the best piece of advice you have ever had.?

Don't burn your bridges - but being young and impetuous and quite obviously always in the right, I not only burnt them but almost became quite pyromaniacal in my efforts.
thankfully, I in later years I learned to build bridges.

computer programmers

I should have said the green writing is from Patrick - not me.

computer programmers

I have a friend that is looking to develop an idea that helps people with Motor neurone disease to communicate once they are unable to speak. It is a DIY version of more expensive eyegaze systems and would be free to download.
He knows what he wants to do but is looking for computer programmers willing to donate their time & skill to make his idea reality.

If you are a computer programmer with some spare time then read on, if not please could you share this. Since Alistair died I’ve been feeling guilty that I’ve not been doing anything to make a difference. I want to change that. Please share.

The problem.
As you know, I have motor neuron disease , known around the world as ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease. MND slowly destroys every muscle in your body apart from your eyes. It takes away your ability to walk, talk, eat and breathe. It is always fatal.

Most people with MND lose the use of their voice and their hands and spend the last months of their lives entirely unable to communicate.
I am looking for software developers who would be willing to work with me for free on a small software project. If you are a programmer with
There is technology available to help with this situation. Called eyegaze, it is a hardware/software combination that tracks the movement of your eyes and allows you to operate a mouse and communication software.

All eyegaze systems use very complicated and clever hardware to see where your eyes are looking on a computer screen. Because they are so complicated they are very, very expensive, systems starting at about £5000.
It is possible to get an eyegaze system if you live in the UK, but it takes many months to get funding, and MND moves quickly. Most people never get it at all, and die unable to communicate with their loved ones. Outside of the richer countries of course, for 95% of the world, eyegaze would be out of the question.

The Solution.

I've had an idea. A good one.

If you could help find someone or can help it would be great. thanks for reading.

RE: kidatheart's Coming to Dublin ..NITE OUT

Hi Shar, if I could organise things I'd be up for a night out in Dublin.
PM details if that suits. thanks

RE: N.C.T

When I had my first car I wanted to be a named driver with my ex being the main policy holder - the company said only way it could be done was to transfer the car over into his name.
But it might have changed dunno

RE: Lent.......

Good idea. Might just do that, I'd really like to try a whole 9 - basically gives up sugar, wheat and processed food.

RE: Is Cheese on Toast.......

I am going primal for the next month,(as opposed to feral) so no bread or cheese for me. Coconut oil has been a revelation. And stir fry for breakfast & not cutting all the fat off the rashers. Yum.

RE: New Years Eve night 11;59

I'm going over to visit my mum - so we'll be having tea and hotpot with red cabbage, got to have hotpot supper for New Year's Eve & Big Ben on the telly.

RE: CHRISTMAS V NEW YEAR !!!

My fave nostalgic place on earth. enjoy.

RE: CHRISTMAS V NEW YEAR !!!

I am only going home the 31st - so quite looking forward to it. Have a good one (even if it does get you arrested!)

wheelchair rugby

I was on FB earlier & ended up chatting to a very old school friend that I not seen in year but chat to a few times in the year via FB. Anyhow, mid conversation she said that she was playing wheelchair rugby - not having seen this, I did a quick google and then asked what had I missed, ie. what had happened that she was using a wheelchair. She replied, nothing, all was ok - it was just a different variation of the game. Am I being thick here, as I have never come across an able bodied person playing a wheelchair sport? Have not replied to her after that - would it be inappropriate to ask why she wants to play wheelchair rugby when she has use of her legs? Cos that is what puzzles me.

Make a wish for christmas

Off to bed cos got stuff to do tomorrow to make Xmas special for the wee ones. Have a great one each and every one of you.
x
May all your wishes come true.

Make a wish for christmas

I was 2lb lighter but lager is my downfall. And tis all said tongue in cheek ... unless cutting out my tongue makes me under 11 stone of course ...
I've never tried to diet - I was one of the I wont deprive myself girls - so I'm quite amazed that I did this without some crazy no food diet.
Hopefully come the new year I will be a calorie obsessed skinny min wink

Make a wish for christmas

Hope it comes true. x

Nah - I hope you don't believe in wishing and make it happen.

Make a wish for christmas

Yeah ... I lost the plot ... and put on 30lb in about 5 months ... now 11 st 6 - 46lb off since June 25th to today.
Going off plan until Dec 28th and then want to drop another 15 lbs by Easter.

Make a wish for christmas

and you will.

Make a wish for christmas

Merci oh wise northern one. May 2013 find eligible men hanging from your chiffonrobe - or any part of 2013 for that matter.

Make a wish for christmas

Then focus on it and then make it happen.

Cos if I can do it - anyone can. Lost 48lb in fat and
gained 9lb in muscle mass since June 25th til today. And a lot of you of you on here have spurred me on without even knowing it.

Thank you & merry christmas.

RE: And they said the collaspe of the tiger was predicted....

Hi AB - I think the no money at the cash point was a "justification" sop thrown out in the days when the government started to realise the whole extent of the Anglo debt and banking crisis to placate the Irish tax payer and get them on side.
Would it have really happened? No one can extrapolate with any degree of accuracy but I don't think it would have ended up in the no milk for babies scenarios that we were led to believe.

As for public revolts - are there enough revolting people around as it is?

I have no idea what form a revolt might take but I did say that FF would not be out of government for as long as people think - a bloody sad revolt but one that's not 5 years away I fear.

Little to impart really but it's still a free country apparently - so I can.

RE: Three places to visit in your area.

Garryland and Coole Park
The Burren and Kinvara
Fanore Beach
thumbs up I was out for a jog in the Curragh last weekend - lovely spot, although I nearly broke my leg off a swing some kids had put up.
Couldn't quite afford dinner in the K though.

crunches?

I've already spent the last few months on my diet and it's fairly clean more than 80% of the time. Just have never done any weights as such (tried a couple years ago and banjaxed my shoulder within 2 weeks for about 6 months)

crunches?

I'm trying to drop some flab but want to build some muscle - started doing some short range crunches with a kettlebell - about 200 5 times a week. Then walk/jog (alternate 1k of each) 5k most days using one of those ab belts (was given it to try) that force your abs to contract. Plus a couple hours of swimming each week.
Someone has told me that doing so much on my abs wont actually build any muscle but atrophy them ...
Are they right?

RE: Pride in your apperance

If you like curry and chilli then cauliflower rice is lovely instead of basmati - it's less carbs but really nice and not like boiled cauliflower.
And it's all the little changes that add up.

RE: Pride in your apperance

Erm, perhaps ...
I don't really know ...

No you bloody well can't.

RE: Pride in your apperance

I don't think so - a lot of people say it's an outdated standard that hasn't been updated in decades to take into account better nutrition, larger frames etc.
I think body fat % ratios increase with age - ie normal at 18 is higher at 30 etc.
But that's only based on what I read since Maddogs post.

RE: What do you normally have for breakfast

Although this one would appear more apt for Wilde

“Moderation is a fatal thing. Nothing succeeds like excess.”

RE: What do you normally have for breakfast

Oh but it is also down as a Wilde quote - so no idea which is the true source.

RE: What do you normally have for breakfast

Benjamin Franklin I think.

RE: What do you normally have for breakfast
