Apart from the usual things helping family/friends etc. I would like to set up a community based project. Like a centre where working parents could drop off kids to be minded at no charge ( Yes staffed at night time too for people who do shift work etc. ). Or where caregivers could drop off a family member for a cup of tea and have a break and some free time for themselves.
Yer Muppet in the bin in Sesame Street..Oscar? Then some blind people in the eighties...(blind drunk obviously)..told me I looked like Natasha Kinski... and Rachel Ward. Lately...courtesy of all the wrinkles I suppose.. I have been told that I look like Barbara Walters..
Hiya, Yeah it seems a bit excessive since I am already a HSE employee ( With Garda Clearance lol ) and I deal with vulnerable people in my current job. To be quite honest if I had known there would be such hassle and sending forms back and forth etc. I wouldn't have bothered. I can see why some people cannot be arsed doing voluntary work. I will carry it through now that I have taken the initial steps and they really do need volunteers but otherwise I would not be bothered. I work full time and dont need the hassle of running around for Garda Clearance...
Yes yes yes..... I was just going to ask how to do that on another thread.... I thought there was some sort of conspiracy deal with it because I have asked before...and no I am not paranoid...I know that they are not really watching me...well maybe one or two are.. Thank you Topcat
Well thank you....did you have to let the whole world know??. Some people actually think that I am normal and functional... Oh crap...no one believes that
Hi, sorry if my original post was unclear. I already have garda clearance for my current job. Re Voluntary work I have not been refused I just have to wait for Garda Clearance.
Hiya Stanley and thank you. I did not think that your post was directed at me in any way Dont get me started on money wasted...when I see Mary Coughlan getting out of a chauffeur driven car in the wee village area where I work I want to plant her while cutbacks are effecting everyone elses lives. I have to disagree with you on the Elvis thing however.... I think that all of our prisoners should be able to sing like Elvis...think Jailhouse Rock
Jaysus Paddy..you squealed on me..one incident streaking on O' Connell street...Jeez it was the festive season.... Good point though. To answer other posters questions. I work for the HSE with adults with intellectual disabilities. I have volunteered at a call out centre which will be dealing with elderly people in the area. It is a HSE run voluntary thing..which I did not even know until I went in to fill out forms etc. The lady I initially spoke with thought that my Garda clearance would be adequate but apparently not. I understand the whole thing of dealing with vulenerable people etc. I do that in my current job also. Also Losty...back to your point...my job does not know if I have had any convictions since they hired me and did my clearance...do you think that employers should update garda clearance regularly like every few years or so?
working in the public sector was a doddle and the hardest part of it was to find a way to look busy when the top brass was about,,
I would imagine that must be incredibly boring. I work as a care assistant..(yes the dreaded HSE...not a fan of the organization myself either). I work hard and do not have to pretend to be busy. I have suffered from pay cut/ pension levy also and I do not earn 40k pa. Even worse I have seen the residents I take care of suffer because of cutbacks, their quality of life is being lessened all the time. So when people think of the public sector and paying our wages etc. please remember that we lower paid public servants do not have the same benefits as Mary Harney et al and also that the people in our care suffer terribly because of cutbacks. My paycut pisses me off but seeing the standard of care suffer pisses me off more. Okay rant over...coffee might put me in better humour Have not had my quota yet
I have recently signed up to do Voluntary work and I have been told that I need Garda clearance, This seems to present a problem because I lived in the States a few years ago. However I am an employee of the same organization that is offering this voluntary help to people. I obviously had Garda Clearance to get the job in the first place. I have been told that even though I am an employee in a different service and have been Garda cleared ..that I can not do voluntary work in this section.. Is this mad or what
Do you really care what someone thinks of your profile? You wrote it... it is what you think about yourself...so let people read it and like it or lump it.... I just posted this because people asked earlier about their profiles....their profiles were great in my humble opinion.. Some of us are not great at self promotion so our profiles might not do us justice...mine is a disaster I have gotten to know people from banter on the forums and have never even looked at their profiles. Not meant to be offensive to anyone but I think the profile is just such a small part of being here...sure I never admitted to having cloven hooves on mine I think that the profile is just an introduction and we never know if people are being fully honest on them anyway. Again not meant to be offensive to anyone in any way
This lady from Navan is not what she seems She is the subject of many lads dreams She has a thing for dancing on Poles But swears she'll quit for the month of holy souls..
r Are you off your Bap Paddy? I suppose that is an oxymoron..showing crap more efficiently? Well I do think that the licence fee is a rip off. I know that American tv is annoying with all the commercials but at least that avoids the tv licence charge. Do they have a tv licence in the UK or in other European countries? Or are we the only schmucks being screwed over?
You look fantastic and you sound like a lot of fun Hadn't seen the old one so I cant compare Have you ever tried the profile review thing? Haven't done it myself cos I would be afraid of the reviews By all accounts you also know how to organize a brilliant party too..sorry I missed it... I love Navan
RE: The Lotto!
Hiya E.Of course, I would totally spoil myself rotten too ...forgot to mention that
