Sure not everyone can donate. When I was a kid my aunt used to come visit and she always had the blood donor pencils and pins. I always wanted to donate blood. I moved to Dublin but you had to be 18. As soon as I turned 18 I went to Pelican house....I was too damned thin... you had to be eight stone. I could never get up to eight stone (how times have changed )
I finally got to 7'12 and I kept annoying them and they let me lol.
Anyway last year I got a call saying could I go to an unscheduled clinic and donate blood. Turns out it was for a wee baby who was having an operation and they needed my blood group immediately. They only had a few hours or something..Of course I went in straight away.
It is nice to know that you can help in some way. When I used to donate platelets in Sloane Kettering they used to say to me, it is great to have donors like you cos the family are worn out. You can donate platelets much more often than blood.
I think that my friends think that I am a vampire cos I am always on to them to donate blood also.
So Sharon you cant donate but sure you seem like a fab person that would give your time to friends anyway. Damn...why am I being so nice...you are also a lunatic with a fantastic personality

Your next boyfriend will need his head and possibly other parts examined.
You might be good at using your body for money as in fraudelent injuries etc. but c'mon is any guy going to stick around for that long when he realizes that your body is for sale?

I actually dont have any regrets. My life has turned out differently than I thought it would but sure what can you do about that
I wish that I had been stronger sometimes ..
My only regrets would be if I had hurt people along the way and I dont think that I have.
I think that you have to deal with what life hands you. I have always been incredibly lucky in my life to have amazing friends and family that have always supported me.

Irish Wakes

I myself found that the wake in the house was good, it kinda keeps you going over a horrible few days. There is such constant support around.
I dont however like this whole rosary thing, I find it very ritualistic and kind of weird. This is not meant to be offensive to anyone else who has found comfort in that part of it. I just find it weird. I was at a wake the night I posted this, I got out of the rosary thing cos I had an eighty mile return trip on pretty bad foggy roads.
I also think that the wake brings out the good part in people, they arrive with food and help in any way that they can.It is nice to see people as a community being selfless and being totally there for the bereaved, well I think so anyway.

In the Country we still do the whole wake thing.
The deceased is in the house and we take turns sitting up with them.
The neighbours come in 24/7 with food and support.
Do you think that should be gotten rid of and just a funeral home type thing instead?

Ah sure Life is life...government stinks a lot of stuff stinks..my wheelie bin is a prime example,I keep mixing up the recycling day with the regular garbage day but sure I get through it
I am posting on the forums here cos it is mostly fun. I disagree with some comments but that is only at the time.I do not hold a grudge against any poster even if I disagree with the content at the time. I am not here to judge anyone but I do post and disagree with people from time to time. I think that the people on here are for the most part pretty sound. I am a wee bit of an outsider cos I only post now and again..sometimes cos of internet problems and sometimes cos of being busy with life.
I made comments about Sugars comments...that was then this is now. She is a beautiful looking girl who seems to have quite a personality also, I would hope that she would see that I was just having a difference of opinion with her.
Bottom line, I suppose, this is a fun place so let it be so

Oh my apologies, I thought that they were actually describing people that they met.
I have been the butt of many jokes but mostly to my face and with good all around slagging involved. I still however do not think that making fun of a persons physical appearance is funny. I think there are much better ways to have a laugh.

Thanks Chattychick, like I said it is the content of the posts that I find offputting. I also hate to see people being put down or made fun of because of physical traits. Each to their own though.

I have to say that I find your remarks quite harsh and hurtful. I know that you have mentioned that this poor man who you are describing will not be reading these posts but I honestly dont see how that makes them any more acceptable.
Before I get jumped on here. I fully agree that we all have ideas on what makes other people attractive to us. I am sure that some remarks made on this thread are possibly even an attempt at humour, rather than people just having a natural mean or nasty streak.( Not just your remarks Sugar but some other remarks also.)
However just because a person is not attractive to any of us I think that it is kind of mean spirited for any of us to poke fun at how they look.
Any of us could be changed forever as a result of a bad accident or a fire etc. and I would hate to think that thereafter we would be seen as fair game to be slagged because of how we looked.
Please note that this is just my opinion on some of the content of the thread and not a judgement on any individual poster.
Like I said already we all have our own ideas of what is attractive but I dont think that means that we should belittle those that are not attractive to us.
