I took photos of my friends wedding years ago...all informal ones and especially the next day ones...I made it into a proper album and she said that everyone loved it..even moreso than the real wedding album..she said every one of her friends went through it and had a real laugh...and had to have copies lol
Sorry, I realize now that my thread is obviously very unclear I am just basically talking about the photos on your mantlepiece or in your album...nothing to do with profile pics or people making an impression..silly thread I suppose...I just look at photos around me and laugh or cry sometimes both at the same photo lol. Just looking at my own mantlepiece...the oldest photo was taken in February 1954..(No I am not in it lol) The most recent one was taken last week... I am really just talking about photos and memories...not about photos that we look good in and put out there...but ya know the photos of you with a pint on your head or something
I agree but I am talking about just fun family photos...not about looking confident or photos that are up for criticism as our profile pics are.. I suppose in my thread I should have said which type photos do people prefer as opposed to what should a photo say I have photos of family members and friends...some of whom I have lost and even if I am kinda sad looking at the photo sometimes...I also crack up laughing at some of them..cos I look at the pic and say...Jeez...she had that face on her cos I was just after slagging her about her shoes...that kinda thing is what I am talking about. I also have the nice family/friends photos where we are all dressed up and looking our best at a wedding or something but the other non posed ones bring back funnier memories sometimes...that's all that I am saying... I like to have those in my album cos they really show the people and the craic at the time...The ones I have where we all look great are still nice to have but just a wee bit more boring...if that makes any sense
Hiya N...I am trying to put on a wee bit of weight...bit of a sensitive issue for me lol I am actually just talking about photos in general that you would have in your family album. I know everyone likes to create a good first impression, I totally understand that. I am just talking about looking at a pic of family and friends and laughing out loud or being sad or whatever. I just love when a photograph captures memories
Not talking about profile pics now... Think I have a bit of a photo obsession... I love photographs... Personally I prefer photos that show a persons personality rather than posed photos. I prefer a pic of someone laughing and having a good time rather than one where they are looking perfect with hair and make up just right... I love photos that just capture the moment...to me photos are memories and I just love to look at a picture and remember when it was taken rather than just...oh yeah she looks great in that pic... I often see...on social networking sites...that people only have photos up where they look good... I prefer to see photos where people are being themselves..not that you cant look good and be yourself (well actually..I cant..note to self..hire a hair and make up person lol). Just curious to know what people think...should photos show people looking their absolute best or show them in real life situations?
Wilde was banned :( Have never read Reading Gaol either...but have read a lot of the other stuff...myself and the Queen of New York (just off the phone and she was asking for you)..were Major Oscar Fans...can you believe that I actually stood at his grave????...That was so amazing that I cant even describe it
I would like to gain some weight Seriously though, I wouldn't change anything. Ok I have had years to get used to how I look lol but how I look has never affected my life, my friendships or relationships. I would rather look how I do than end up with some botched job cosmetic surgery or something out of an assembly line where everybody looks the same. Why should society sometimes dictate how any of us should look? The same society that often shuns a person with a disfigurement. I have only seen snippets of Katie Piper and friends but I think that it could teach us something about how important how we look is. JMO
I am a smoker and I would never smoke in front of kids or newborn babies. I have gone outside of my OWN house to smoke when I have had non smokers or kids visiting. In bad weather I would just go to another room. I think it is unfair of you to say that smokers are inconsiderate. Long before the ban in bars or restaurants I would not smoke if someone was eating. However it seems more acceptable for non smokers to treat us all like some form of lowlife and to feel free to tar (no pun intended!) us all with the same brush.
I would imagine that it depends on the circumstances. I think that Music sessions are for everyone and all would be welcome to join in if they could play along with the musicians. If it was a more formal session then they might be asked to hang back til the session was over and became more informal. Re Photographs, I am sure that it can be a bit offputting for musicians if a flash is going off in their faces every few mins. I think that a certain amount of respect and cop on is all that is needed. If I take photos of entertainers I stay in the background and do not use a flash. Dont let it put you off, as a musician yourself I would suggest that you wait for an appropriate time and then ask if you can join in...I cannot imagine that you would not be welcomed
I think that the "rules of the game" are that the game only exists if you want it to What is wrong with being honest? sure if you let a guy know that you like him ..no crime has been committed It doesn't mean that cos you are the person who says...ok I like you...makes you the lesser person as long as the guy does not take it as a licence to treat you any differently..as in...oh she likes me and I can give her the runaround... I just think that the whole "games" are headwrecking for all involved...Well that is just me and I am an auld wan... Flirting and being mysterious is grand but if you think that you would like to see someone on a regular basis what is the point of the headwrecking stuff... Just a general post actually not just an answer to the OP...
Ah Jaysus Paddy is it yourself??? Dont be selling yourself short....Okay...so your "large???" brain is unused but I am sure that you will get around to using it sometime...once you realize that it is above your waist!
I am really enjoying them Vinny...to the point of addiction lol, Think I will be in severe withdrawal when I finish them.Should have the last one finished by the weekend. I thought Dan Browne was okay, I have read four of his books. I got fed up of the whole illuminati business after a while though :) Probably back to Baldacci after I finish " The Girl who kicked the Hornets' Nest".
I was in Eason's last week. I asked one of the workers there (she looked like a teenager) where I would find Sheaffer ink cartridges...She said that they only had HP ink cartridges, I said to her that I was looking for ink cartridges for a fountain pen and she said to me " for a pen?, I didn't know they made cartridges for a pen". She then showed me where the pens were. Lovely polite girl but I left there thinking...Damn How old am I? I did however leave with the correct ink cartridges for my pen lol. Funny how Generations differ...then again I am old I myself write everything on microsoft word but for personal letters or cards I usually use a fountain pen, just an old habit I suppose... So what things have you run in to that made you stop and think...damn...times have changed!!
Just finished "The Girl with the Dragon tattoo", halfway through "The Girl Who Played with Fire", Really enjoying them, think I better buy the third one today as I will probably have finished the second one by tonight :)
