RE: Secrets of the Psychics Revealed ...

Possibly she might have thought that I was a tourist and that I should buy a good camera,Then again she was supposedly so "good" that I had to wait a while to get an appointment with her at least two months and they had a contact number for me...landline pre mobile phones lol...the dark ages lol. The number was also listed in my name. But like you said she might just have taken me for a tourist.

RE: Secrets of the Psychics Revealed ...

Just came across this...I didn't know that these techniques even existed...

So I guess that con artists being able to read people and pick up on things is not a talent either but something that they have studiedvery mad

RE: Secrets of the Psychics Revealed ...

Like I said I have gone out of curiousity, usually after being told" this one is amazing...knew stuff no one else did etc.".
I went to one in NY once. She was a fantastic actress (musta paid better than the waitressing lol). She went into a trance and all...started scribbling on a writing pad. Nothing made any sense to me at the time or afterwards (she gave me a tape).
One strange thing however.... She said to me, you will be taking a lot of photographs and you will need to buy a good camera if you dont already have one...
I had just come from buying a pretty expensive camera as I was taking photography as part of a college course. Being the sceptic that I am, I had the camera totally hidden in my rucksack( no camera store bag or anything to be seen), I cant see any way that she could have known I had a camera in my bagconfused confused

RE: Secrets of the Psychics Revealed ...

Maybe there are some people out there with a genuine gift, my only experience has been with the commercial con artists. I have heard of genuine people in different areas. It does interest me though and would love to meet a genuine one.wave
I find the whole idea interesting but I am not overly concerned about knowing my future, what happens happens.

RE: Secrets of the Psychics Revealed ...

I think a lot of them prey on vulnerable people who are at a low point in their lives. It is despicable what some of them do just to line their own pockets.
Unfortunately without realizing it we can reveal a lot about ourselves to another person sometimes not even verbally but with a gesture. These predators only talent is being able to read people and pick up on this stuff to use against a person who is vulnerable. JMO and if people find comfort from it fine but I am a total non believer. I have gone to two of these people in the past, because I was curious and did not believe that they had any psychic abilities, on both occasions I was proven right. One of them even told me that I was very hard to read lol probably cos I did not feed her any extra information apart from what was outwardly apparent like my accent and my age. I think it is grand for entertainment purposes but when people start getting into debt then it is despicable on the part of the con artist posing as a physcic.

RE: Mass Attendance in Ireland

I am sure that there are some genuine people who go to Mass and enjoy it. I also know that there are some decent Priests out there and I think that it is unfortunate that they are all tarred with the same brush.
I myself have no time or respect for the Catholic Church, however having been raised Catholic I think that I am entitled to be a hypocrite laugh therefore I will probably have some kind of bash in the local chapel when I kick the bucket. That of course depends on if they approve of my choice of music and if they dont then the bash will have to take place in a local pubbeer
I will be cremated as it might be a good chance to get used to the flamesrolling on the floor laughing
Not sure if I believe in God. Apart from the worldwide disasters and people suffering, I cannot but believe that if God exists then he is very cruel when you see the suffering that ordinary people go through in their daily lives.
I do respect each persons individual choice of religion. who are any of us to say that their choice is wrong. Having lived in New York for many years I was lucky enough to get to know people from very different ethnic and religious backgrounds and they were all sound.
Happy Paddy's Day...Faith and Begorrah and Top O' The Mornin' to yiz allgood luck good luck irish irish cheers

Taking photographs, I am not very good but I love taking photographs(That is why I did not say photography lol). I am the annoying person who always has a camera in her bag (oh okay....I am equally annoying when I dont have a camera in my bagblushing ).
I never go for a walk without taking my camera with me, I have a really good camera so I get some lucky shots.
For years my friends have given out to me about always snapping away but they always end up looking for copieslaugh
I never ever put pictures of people on any social networking sites though. Not unless I have their permission...so you dont have to be scared of me and my camerarolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Fine Gael's Policy To End The Irish Language In Shcools

lol I remember that,
We had the old desks with the inkwells and the powdered ink. If I asked about a word in Irish, Master Gray would say " why dont you ask De Bhaldraithe?" That was the dictionary in use at the time and it was kept up in the windowsill...old fashioned school with the high windows.
He also insisted that we write with fountain pens as you did not rush as much and wrote betterdunno dunno I still use a fountain pen to this dayblushing blushing

RE: Fine Gael's Policy To End The Irish Language In Shcools

I am old so I had to learn those in National school lol and believe it or not you also had to know what their main industry was...guess Irish towns must have been more productive and self sufficient back in those days... I went to one of those old fashioned country schools with two teachersblushing I remember my teacher would make us look up words in the dictionary ourselves whether it was Irish or English. I asked him once why could he not just tell us what the word meant. His answer was " When you look it up yourself you will always remember what it means and know how to spell it" Basic (very basicblushing ) Irish education at its bestlaugh
