Well the bottom line is people can lie all they want but if you meet someone in person...where the hell do you hide that extra five stone (big handbags might be fashionable but there are limits to what you can stash in there !) and how much botox can a 44 year old face take if you want to pretend to be 33 God knows I have tried both tactics some of you might recognize my expressionless face from the tv licence ads

Maybe people are not necessarily lying...their perception of themselves could be different to how others see them.
I cant be arsed lying...I have a terrible memory anyway. Some people from here have met me. I have been told that I do look like my pics by some people and other people say that I dont look like my pics so who knows

You know the way you never remember when you first became friends with someone? Or when you met someone special? I am crap with dates but I guess it is the time of year when we all remember the special people in our lives

I do all of my grocery shopping locally but for other stuff I shop in Enniskillen for reasons that I mentioned before.
I would love to think that I was helping kids go through college but I can only support myself at this time selfish and all as that might sound.
I have friends/family who have become unemployed recently and they have no option but to go North to do their shopping as they cannot afford to feed and clothe their families with the prices in the republic. It would be nice to think that as individuals we could support the local retailers but where is the incentive when the Government are proposing to cut unemployment benefits and childrens allowance benefits? Everybody has to try and stretch their money as far as they can to support a family.

I agree In theory I would like to support local retailers but when the Government start taking money off us and raising taxes and vat then I dont find that exactly encouraging.

You know all this crap about present buying wrecks my head sometimes.
I believe that no one should ever feel obligated or pressured to buy a gift.
What is wrong with vouchers? It shows that the person at least thought of you. Maybe they felt pressured and did not know what to get you which in my opinion raises the question how good is your friendship/relationship if they felt that way?
I feel that buying/giving a gift should be a pleasant experience not a head wrecking stressful experience.
This is just my personal opinion and not directed at anyone as in my ignorance I have not read the entire thread just skimmed it
I am always happy with any gift I receive and would hate to think that I cause someone stress worrying about buying me anything.
When did we become so materialistic and feel that people had to buy us gifts and then deem them to be unsuitable and thoughtless?
Re shopping in the North....Why not?
In my case Enniskillen is my closest decent shopping town. I was always a believer in supporting local shops etc. but sometimes I have found local shops have not been accomodating regarding exchanges etc. and also they do not have the same range of goods.
When the government make it better for me as a consumer to shop local then I would consider it but like everyone else I have to try and get the best value I can. I also think that the Government should make it easier for local shops to be more competitive. Until then I do not feel guilty shopping in the North as it would cost me more in petrol and time to shop in the nearest comparable shopping town in the Republic.

And how come that these people who plod along and totally ignore the rules of the road can all afford new vehicles?. I try to ignore them now because I used to be bordering on road rage They dont know what the hard shoulder is for and when they start looking all around and taking in their surroundings(everything but other traffic that is lol ) I want to do a drive by shooting ..... I dont really have unresolved anger issues
