Yeah, I may a bit twisted now that I think about it. laugh

But seriously, sometimes it's not so much the place as it is the people you miss seeing. I have made some good friends here but I really do miss all those brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. And I miss a lot of those other things we seem to take for granted.

Hi Don, It's comments like your's and the others above which really make me appreciate the people on this site. I had not even considered the Title Insurance aspect of this. I do have it and that's certainly something I will be looking at in addition to the lawyer. Thanks a lot...

House Sale

Thanks for the advice, I am definately leaning towards talking to a lawyer.

House Sale

Thanks Tom, if you hear anything from your brother about his problem let me know.

Yeah, I have a good friend there that managed the property for me and I have the agent. If worse comes to worse I can rent it again. But, I am definately not moving back there. I bought a new place in Alabama a few years back and that's where I will park once I retire. Who knows, maybe I'll come rent the duplex.. laugh

RE: How come it's better

Hollywood just dresses it up and plays to our fantasies. When one is with the right person the glow is felt more than it's seen. To me, nothing is better than the feel of my partner next to me after the love making is complete. In fact, I have always thought of that as the most intimate part of lovemaking.

RE: Good Guy and Good Lady Lists

I don't think I'm on anyone's "S" list so can I be added?

Yes, I am considering it but I really am at a loss as to who is at fault and finding a good lawyer from here is a bit daunting. I really don't like the idea of suing someone but this is gonna get expensive so I don't think I will have much choice in the matter.

Yes I'm still in Malta. I just got back last night from a 2 week trip. No more trips I hope and I can get down to getting ready to make the move back to Alabama. I am really looking forward to it but spending the better part of the summer in Malta will be nice if I don't get caught up in too much work here.

House Sale

Hi Dana, Yes they can but they estimate it's going to take at least 6 months and a court hearing which translates to me paying for the court costs, attorney fees plus the $800.00 a month I am losing in lost rent not to mention the loss of the sale itself. I'm not one to sue someone but I bought the house by the book through a realtor and lawyer and I am losing a lot of money. It wont kill me but it shouldn't happen. I've just never heard of anything like this before.

Anyway, I will be back in the states in late August. I am really hoping this is resolved by then but I fear it wont be and it will be just an unwanted aggrevation during what will be a big transition for me.

Who knows, maybe I will be laughing about this next week, I hope so.. Regardless, in the big scheme of life it's not a big deal but it is irritating.

House Sale

Hello All,

I usually don't write too many serious threads but this one is about a problem I'm having with the sale of one of my houses.

I bought a house in S. Caroline 6 years ago. Right after I bought it Uncle SAM moved me and I have been overseas since. Not a problem as I have been renting it since that time and it pays for itself so I've kept it as an investment. However, as I approach retirement this winter I decided to put the house up for sale. Surprisingly, it sold very quick despite the current housing slump but then right before the closing the lawyer for the buyer found a problem with the title. In short, the title is not clear and wasn't when I bought it. This means I can't sell it and I just lost the sell of the house plus lost the renter I had due to the pending sell. I am pretty much screwed (I think) Anyone out there ever experianced anything like this? The problem is made worse because I am stuck overseas and it's really difficult to handle. Any advice is welcome.

RE: Laugh Central - Jokes, Jokes, Jokes.........

A man walks into a restaurant with a full-grown ostrich behind him.
The waitress asks them for their orders.

The man says, 'A hamburger, fries and a coke,' and turns to the ostrich, 'What's yours?'

'I'll have the same,' says the ostrich. When the bill came the man reaches into his pocket and pays with exact change.

The next day, the man and the ostrich come again and the man says, 'A hamburger, fries and a coke.'

The ostrich says, 'I'll have the same.'

Again the man reaches into his pocket and pays with exact change.

This becomes routine until the two enter again. 'The usual?' asks the waitress.

'No, this is Friday night, so I will have a steak, baked potato and a salad,' says the man.

'Same,' says the ostrich.

Shortly the waitress brings the order and says, 'That will be $32.62.'

Once again the man pulls the exact change out of his pocket and places it on the table.

The waitress cannot hold back her curiosity any longer. 'Excuse me, sir. How do you manage to always come up with the exact change in your pocket every time?'

'Well,' says the man, 'several years ago I was cleaning the attic and found an old lamp. When I rubbed it, a Genie appeared and offered me two wishes. My first wish was that if I ever had to pay for anything, I would just put my hand in my pocket and the right amount of money would always be there.'

'That's brilliant!' says the waitress. 'Most people would ask for a million dollars or something, but you'll always be as rich as you want for as long as you live!'

'That's right. Whether it's a gallon of milk or a Rolls Royce, the exact money is always there,' says the man.

The waitress asks, 'What's with the ostrich?'

The man sighs, pauses and answers, 'My second wish was for a tall chick with a big butt and long legs who agrees with everything I say.'

RE: Obama for President......Octagram!

A couple things Dude:

1. The Bushneys (as you put it) are not running for office. Last time I checked he's no longer eligible. That pretty much leaves McCain and any other Independent candidate to run against Obama.

2. As I said before, i doubt Rev Wright would never cross over. He dislikes the Republicans (Not the Bushneys) even more than he seems to dislike Obama. Think about it. How would you feel if you nurtured and supported someone for 20 years, maybe even thinking this young man supported you views only to be publically deserted as the man is near attaining the highest office? Wouldn't that piss you off just a bit? I believe it's much more probable Rev Wright wants a little payback from Obama for his disloyalty towards Rev Wright. Afterall, didn't Rev Wright say that Obama believed the same as him and was only making "those" statements because he wanted to win. Seems this is much more realistic than thinking Rev Wright would help the Republicans directly or take any amount of money as an enticement. No, I think this is personal and I doubt he's done.

RE: Obama for President......Octagram!

PHILADELPHIA (Map, News) - Barack Obama's former pastor has withdrawn from two scheduled appearances in Philadelphia.

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, former pastor of Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ, was scheduled to lead a revival May 28 and 29 at St. Thomas African Episcopal Church. And he was scheduled to preach June 1 at the 100th anniversary celebration of Canaan Baptist Church.

Wright often preaches in his native Philadelphia. But both churches said Monday he has withdrawn from next week's events.

The rector of St. Thomas, the Rev. Martini Shaw, said Wright's office asked him last week to reschedule the appearance. Shaw said Wright "has been exhausted by all the media attention and desired some time for refreshment and refueling."

I think this really means he's waiting for the general election campaign to start. He is really (potentially) a huge thorn in Obama's side.

RE: Obama for Presidnet!.....Heptachromic

Dude, you have no right to speak of how I think or feel. Nor do you have a right to speak as to how or what other soldies think. We are perfectly free to express ourselves and those who cannot support have an out if they want it. Even when we do not agree we can disagree but we do it with respect. We also do it at the ballot box.

Inflating numbers (3 million eyes) will not improve your point either.

President Bush, like it or not is our Commander in Chief and as long as he is, we will support him or we will find another vocation.

RE: What's your Score?
