RE: Is it fair...,...????

If you're just talking about illegal immigrants, they would not be entitled to benefits, nor being put up in a 5 star hotel. And we do have illegal immigrants, assylum seekers and people who have come here from other countries to start a new & hopefully better life. And on balance they are far and away Nett contributors to the exchequer and to society in general. Some are scroungers, like all nationalites have, Irish, English etc.

RE: Is it fair...,...????

I got that, but I find it amazing that people are now being employed in the mental health field as advocates, and peer support workers because of their lived experiences. Some lecture in Universities here and are deemed ''experts by experience''. They are lecturing and working alongside Doctors, Psychiatrists and Mental Health Nurses, because of their high chance of being empathetic & compassionate. In some countries the peer support worker is one of the first people a committed person deals with because its shown they inherently offer hope. What your daughter is doing is the same imo, and is probably why she seems to excel at it, except the being paid part obviously laugh
I love hearing success stories like that as too often people can't, turn their life around. You should be proud of her hug

RE: Is it fair...,...????

I love this, and thanks for sharing teddybear

Fair play to your daughter, in giving, we receive. There is a trend towards employing people whi have suffered severe mental health distress in the health services as it has been shown that people who have suffered are more likely to have empathy and compassion towards others.

RE: Is it fair...,...????

I have some news for you Pete, life isn't fair wave

And am sorry but if you think your so called ''illegal immigrants'' are the cause of British people being homeless, I've a bridge to sell you.
That's what the Johnson, Patel, Farage, Rees Mogg etc want you to think while they continue to feather their own nest.

The lies told about immigrants in the Brexit campaign was scandalous, but if you give someone an enemy, explain that they are responsible for their lot in life, it will channel the anger towards something else but it's pure misdirection while the Tories continue with their caviar lifestyle.

RE: Binge watchable?

RE: Do you consider yourself ''lucky'' in some ways?

Yeah, I do, some of the time and when I can control the dark cloud.

I have a brilliant family, some fantastic friends and am healthy physically.
Sometimes it can be hard to feel lucky, but in a lot of ways, I am.
Thanks for the reminder. wave

RE: Navy ‘to board French boats and arrest fishermen’ in event of no-deal Brexit

You do know the English have sold off most of their fishing rights and its just posturing ?
Also fish don't recognise borders, so to prevent overfishing there has been an accord within all the countries concerned to all members benefit. It's a complex issue.
I think its just pandering to the base & jingoism on johnson's part given how negligible the industry is in the overall scheme of things.

RE: Who Will Be TIME'S Person of the Year?

Even when there is actual evidence ?

I understand people being wary of certain stories, and with certain stories I will read from different sources.
Not the ones you post laugh

RE: Who Will Be TIME'S Person of the Year?

RE: Navy ‘to board French boats and arrest fishermen’ in event of no-deal Brexit

We would be willing but there's probably no need.

UK Navy: Please divert your course 15 degrees to the North to avoid a collision.

Irish Radio Person: Recommend you divert YOUR course 15 degrees to the South to avoid a collision.

UK Navy: This is the Captain of a UK Navy ship. I say again, divert YOUR course.

Irish Radio Person: No. I say again, you divert YOUR course.

UK Navy: This is the aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elisabeth, the largest ship in the UK fleet. We are accompanied by three destroyers, three cruisers and numerous support vessels. I demand that YOU change your course 15 degrees north, that's one five degrees north, or countermeasures will be undertaken to ensure the safety of this ship.

Canadians: This is a lighthouse. Your call.

laugh

RE: Who Will Be TIME'S Person of the Year?

I understand why you would say that given you believe we all have microchips, controlled by Gates, hiv, controlled by Soros, and maybe have 3 heads, but some of live in a world of reason, evidence and facts.
I understand you believe the election was stolen, and 81 over million people didn't vote for Biden, but
Have you any actual Evidence ?

RE: Navy ‘to board French boats and arrest fishermen’ in event of no-deal Brexit

laugh

RE: Who Will Be TIME'S Person of the Year?

comfort

You do a disservice to Democracy, and to over 81 million Americans who voted for Biden.
What's going on is nothing short of sedition and thankfully there are a few honourable Republicans who actually believe in the rule of law.

This period will always be a stain on the U.S. blues

RE: Who Will Be TIME'S Person of the Year?

I'd suggest Time actually got it right in 1938, given

Person of the Year (called Man of the Year or Woman of the Year until 1999) is an annual issue of the United States news magazine and website Time that features and profiles a person, a group, an idea, or an object that "for better or for worse... has done the most to influence the events of the year". Time also runs an annual reader's poll that has no effect on the selection, which is made solely by the magazine's editors.
