What's God got to do with love Gransiozzie? Only thing I've ever seen done in the name of God is hatred and those who proclaim their faith to God are often the most hateful
As someone who's absolutely terrified of dogs (attacked as a child) that scenario wouldn't bother me too much. Those kind of dogs are always chosen for their very calm demeanour, are very well behaved/trained and anyway, they're always on a lead so it's not like they can bound across the room at you...
As for the allergic employee... that depends on how allergic . If they're seriously allergic then should they really be applying for jobs that put them in direct contact with the general public and their guide dogs ect...maybe an office job would be better suited to them....If they didn't say anything at the interview then the employer probably could use it as a way to get rid of the employee if needed, but if not and it's a good employee then the boss could/would find a way around it..
Certified....medically supported?? I can't ever understand why so many Americans have to bring everythign to one extreme or the other and can't find the middle ground or some sort of compromise where everyone's happy.... belies a lack of common sense imo
Volunteering is a good way as well, it takes you out of your own world, takes the focus of oneself too and puts it on someone else and their needs...always a good thing in my opinion (and experience)..
An old thread I know and no sign of the Op it seems, but I hope you're ok Canadian woman and managed to find someone or something that helps..
It's sad to think that the more populated the planet becomes the more divided, isolated and seperated we are becoming from each other as people. Chronic loneliness and feelings of being isolated and cut off from others seems to be becoming a major issue for young and old alike...I read a really disturbing report about this subject amongst the eldery and some of the stories told were so so sad...when all they needed was someone to show they cared about them, to talk to and be with..not a lot to ask really, sad it's in such short supply for far far too many....This is the price we pay for becoming such an individualistic society..
So you're not alone Canadian woman, indeed far from it..
I'm not really that much of a drinker and can't stand the taste of beers and wine so tend to drink more water than anything else....
But if I'm in the mood then it depends on the venue. The local pub I might have a jameson or two with coke or a glass or two of Guinness with blackcurrant...but if it's more upmarket place and there's a cocktail menu I'll try a few of whatever sounds interesting...would be just as happy with a glass of water to be honest though , it's everyone else that has the problem my not drinking , they can't get their heads around it, it doesn't bother me one bit though lol....
Vodka and red bull? God that brings back memories from the days when I went clubbing with the (mad) crowd from college..
Jesus!! over $8k to move just 15 miles , a half an hours drive away???...Sounds like someone is trying to take you to the cleaners mbken..along with your belongings...
Might be cheaper to just sell/give the stuff away and buy replacements at the new house...save your self the storage costs as well....and the hassle of it all...
P.S. Good luck with the move though..I did it not so long ago and dont' envy you..It's the hardest week of work you'll ever do and it'll take years off you..
Wee tip, be sure to write what's in each box and what room it's from or it''ll be torture on the other side lol...
And why are you giving so much heed to what others are wearing Galrads? As long as you're having nice time, and so are they, sure who cares what they're wearing...
Personally speaking I've only ever worn a wetsuit at the beach.... and boots....and gloves...west coast of Ireland is NOT the place to be exposing flesh to the elements (not worried about people or what they're wearing as irish beaches (especially the atlantic coast) are usually deserted brrrr lol...,it's actually warmer in the water than it is on the beach
Those kids' behaviour lies squarely at their parents' door...with the exception of the obvious then almost all children's behaviour is a reflection of what goes on in the home and how the children are raised. So if the kids are badly behaved when out, then it's highly likely those same kids are just reflecting the bad behaviour they see at home...
I'm not sure why infants crying would ruin a day...by infants do you mean 0-2 years old kind of age? Kids that age do cry for genuine reasons, hurt, hungry, tired etc etc..but to let them cry on and on because of that is cruel in my opinion..Tantrums however are a whole other ball game...and I dunno who came up with tantrums being normal for 2 year olds..they're not...
Tis a very sad reflection of society when a mother has to bring her child into interview, so she can work to put food on the table...very sad indeed...
I read an interesting article(online somewhere) there the other week. It was about some fella who was raised to always tell the truth no matter what. As his parents had raised him this way and led by example it always felt unnatural for him to lie, even about the small stuff. But as he became an adult he found he couldn't get jobs or keep friends so he began to look at bit more closely at it...
Anyway, long story short, he learned the hard way that the truth isn't always welcome and to be totally honest 100% of the time actually devalues you in other's eyes. We only keep the absolute truth for the special few in our lives who've earned the right to it and/or that we trust. The rest? We lie to keep them at arms length and use it as a subliminal way to let them know they're not part of our close circle..
I found his story to be really interesting and through his personal experience he learned a new perspective that highlighted (for him) that lies (or not telling the truth) as having a social context and value...
Thanks for putting that up Tulefell, you're right,, it was worth it. This is what they should be teaching in schools to kids..and expecting parents.
To answer the OP's question why do we eat junk food:
Not the only reason of course...but...
In nature fat and sugar are never ever seen together, so for us humans to find a food that does have both, well...we go mad for it. And our food manufactures know it. It could be anything from ice-cream to butter and jam on toast in the morning (same ingredients as cake basically) and the combination is absolutely lethal for weight gain . God only knows, at the levels we consume it, what it does to one's health as well...
Nixon changed the laws to encourage industrial scale farming (and some other related stuff I can't remember). The producers went mad and went for the cheap to produce yet massive profits, glucose-fructose (eventually putting small farmers out of business). Then some doctor (wrongly, very wrongly) declared fats to be bad for you. These two things combined created the perfect storm. As sugar was/is so cheap and removing the fats extended the shelf live (bacteria can't live in sugar rich environment - think honey) the food manufacturers were only too happy to reduce the fat content and replace it with sugar...under the guise of being "healthy"..and of course everyone bought into it...culminating in the chronic obesity we've been seeing in the US since then.. because most people will eat the high sugar food with some sort of fat (meat, dairy etc).
What the American food manufactures have done, and are still doing, to the American people is nothing short of covert government condoned genocide, especially the cohorts of people who're easily misled (most of society if truth be told).
Every US President since and including Nixon should be held up for crimes against it's own people by allowing this to happen and to continue...they really should. .
And given how intrusive and relentless the food manufactures/producers advertising has been, they have some nerve to throw their hands up in the air and blame people themselves. It's disgraceful..
Sorry, went off on a tangent there, but why we eat so much bad food can't be blamed entirely on poor choices by poorly educated and/or uninformed people. We're all at the mercy of the taste buds of our primitive selves and we're also highly susceptible to the non stop onslaught of the subliminal cohersion that food producers use against us in their rapacious hunt for profits at all cost...if they had to pay for their customers health bills you'd soon see them and supermarkets die a very quick death..
