RE: Rising cases

That's a very very vague paragraph of what reads like nothing more than imagined up nonsense.

RE: Learn to live with it.

Hi Tulefell wave

Yeh, there's always that possibility, especially the way the population is predicted to increase over the next few decades.

RE: Have you ever been fired

I've left jobs because of that craic too Tiger_moth.

RE: Learn to live with it.

Personally, I find statements like that ("even one death is one too many") absolutely absurd.

Wrt your concern, it won't just "stop" working Youcannow. It's efficacy will decrease over time. Hence the (potential) need for booster shots.

If a new variant evolves that's totally immune to the vaccine then that might be a different matter. They'll have to start again I suppose. There's someone I know who's working with the virus and they've already told me what'd happen in this instance, but dammed if I can remember what they said. Either way, I'm just grateful we, as a species, at least have the intellect, the means and the capablity to fight against it. Imagine if this were 100-150 years ago,we'd stand no chance against it.

RE: Learn to live with it.

The economy will recover ,it always does. The people who died can't be resurrected from the dead though.

Governments cannot prevent every death and nor would anyone expect them too, but to just say "learn to live with it"??? Now that's dreadful.

RE: Learn to live with it.

Truth, sadly.

RE: Learn to live with it.

That's pretty much what he said. It's every man, woman and child for themselves now.

I thought Maggie Thatcher was brutal bad, but he's just as bad. He's pretty much told the country, and the rest of the world, that the UK is now a purely individualistic country. Every man and woman has to look after themselves and not give a damn about their neighbour. The social contract (and obligations) the Government had with the people is now utterly worthless and in the bin.

The UK will be as desperate, impoverished and miserable in the next 10-20 years as the USA is today..

RE: Learn to live with it.

I thought the very same thing too Youcannow.

RE: The age gap.

Irish women are as varied in their preferences as women all over the world are. However, that said, I think we tend to be more "middle of the road" and prefer someone our own age or a bit older. I'm not speaking for anyone here, but that's what almost all my friends and I would say. Of course there are the one or two outliers whose preferences would certainly raise an eyebrow or two..

RE: The age gap.

I don't think they're thinking about the long term Orzzz. The vast of those lads are probably just interested in something short-term, the "older woman experience" if you will.

Yeh, I agree, it is insane. But it's not just young men in their 30's who're at that kind of thing either. There are plenty of women who're just as bad, if not worse. Creepy if you ask me, it's creepy and disturbing. wow uh oh doh

RE: Languages and accents.

Or better yet....

The complete package love love love

RE: Languages and accents.

RE: Languages and accents.

It seems the Irish accent has a strange effect on men lol

The dolcit tones of the Donegal accent sure are honey to the ears though...

RE: What is more attractive to women?

Eh no she wouldn't...doh laugh

RE: Love / pick-up lines

RE: When was the last time you smiled

Ah same here Red... but just the one though. She was a teacher I had in secondary school and she always looked like she had a slight smile on her face. Even when she was annoyed she looked like she was kinda smiling. She must've been some sort of genetic anomaly because I've never met anyone else like that since...

RE: BLIND DATE

Blind dates have existed as long as mankind have..

I could be mixing you up with someone else on here but correct me if I'm wrong here, doesn't your country still have a very strong tradition/culture of "blind" marriages iif not enforced marriages?? Personally, that's far worse in my book..

The fundamentals of human relationships haven't changed that much either. Just the means (via technology) and how people use it.

You could go into a bar tonight, meet a total stranger. You know as much about him as you would meeting someone from a dating site. If you're sensible you'll know to be wise and take care of yourself.. The most harm that come to women is often from someone known to the family...not from strangers. That's well documented..

Sorry, the original OP didn't attach to my reply for some reason...hence my doing it again. (saves confusion) lol...

RE: Gasoline/diesel vs battery

Yes, sadly that's what happens when people vote for the fast talking politicians who'll run the small man into the ground, or let grossly inept officious civil servants run the country in the back rooms where they're never held accountable or even known of..

And then a whole plethora of rules are set up with the big companies in mind..but the small man is made to comply with them as well...the same with taxes..

I think it's Finland that has a law , that if their Prime Minister is found to be telling lies or is corrupt s/he's put out of power...A good law and one every country should have...They look after the civilians far better than most countries...as far as I know anyway...

RE: Gasoline/diesel vs battery

I'd be obliged if you didn't try to put words in my mouth. That is most certainly NOT what I said. You asked a specific question and answered it with that specification in mind.

There are millions of people starving in the world right this second. And that's with full oil production.

Actually, they won't starve to death. A family of four, on a vegan diet, only needs a quarter of an acre to live. The same family as vegetarian would need an acre...The same family as meat eaters would need four acres.

Currently, 30 billion tons of grain needs to be produced to feed the cattle that are grown for their meat...

That same 30 billion tons of grains would feel far far far more people and bring the most impoverished on this planet above the malnutrition line...

The starvation on this planet isn't caused by lack of food/ this planet is absolutely heaving with life and the ability to feed it's occupants. The starvation is caused the the fat and over-fed who're too greedy to share with anyone else...

Norway being one of the most generous by giving over 10% (if memory serves) of it's GDP to poorer countries...

RE: Gasoline/diesel vs battery

We already have solar power, wind power and wave power turbines in situ and working. ...We also have about 40 years until peak oil is reached, so by then we're bound to have the alternatives in place, and by then we'll also have every house retro fitted as well so I wouldnt' worry too much about it...If we managed to survive hundreds, if not thousands of years without oil then we'll cope without it again. I can remember a time (in rural Ireland) when many houses didn't have running water, heating or even a fridge and it was grand. Life without oil won't be half as bad as you might expect.

What does worry me though is how we're going to deal with 40 more years of oil derivative pollutants being pumped into the air, sea and land...

And, given how much damage we've done to the planet, if the end oil brings about a much reduced population then, sure that won't be such a bad thing either . There are far far far too many of us as it is. Imagine if the global population goes up (as predicted) to ten billion....the earth will look like a landfill site and the most important natural resources like the soil, the water, the air will barely cope with what that kind of population will do to it...end of oil will be the least of humankinds' worries. handshake

RE: Are their any cs personalities you don’t like?

Don't we all Tom, don't we all laugh

RE: Higher level of Education

Education should be the lighting of a fire, not the filling of a barrel...

No formal education can match the determination to understand something. And, if someone wants an education then all they need is the inherent desire to learn and access to (pre-internet days) books and the wherewithall to actually get on with it...Some things don't even need books, just the ability to observe and think.

Some of the smartest people on this planet probably spent their lives at the kitchen sink or doing the most menial of jobs and the world has seriously lost out because of it...Why oh why were these people never actively sought out? Because those who should have done it were too afraid their own incompetence would have been highly I bet....Exams and grades are the totally antithesis of education.

Misogyny and other prejudice/s have held us back by centuries as well..
