I think you are already on your way there.thumbs up

RE: At What Age???

I think when you have been here a while to see people as friends. They gain an importance to you as an unique person. You get to appreciate them and look forward to reading their posts. At some point you get to enjoy the feeling of being treated as one of the regulars whether you are ignored or not. You start to understand that others have ideas, opinions and feelings. You begin to feel like maybe you aren't the only one to feel this way. At some point being yourself you feel the respect of others and the game playing is given up and you quit taking others for granted since you don't like the feeling of being took for granted. It is an acquiring of maturity and the wonderful knowing that you are an adults conversing with other adults. You start to enjoy the sense of community and start reaping the real rewards of getting real answers to some of the things that you have always wanted to know but were afraid to ask. You take a risk of maybe if you are honest with them that they might return the favor.

Have you ever had a mentor?

Down the road from where I grew up I knew this guy who had 40 acres of junk. He liked to collect things. He had hills of car bumpers, hub caps, old cars, a baby grand piano, antique radios and so many wonderful things. He said he started collecting stuff that people wanted hauled and it just got away from since he had been collecting since he was a young man. He was known by the whole community and he had this old truck with wooden side walls so that he could pile things high on the back of his truck. He said I could pilfer through the stuff. It was a virtual playground at his place. He said he started collecting and it got to be an obsession. He was like a fountain of knowledge. Sometimes he would let me go with him. He said just watch out for the snakes. It was fun sitting in the old cars and all the stuff was like a great mystery. Having someone to look up to when you are young and to talk to can be important. I was reading about the fostering and remembering back of people who have meant much to me in my youth.

RE: how lonely is lonely

It has been over a year and it is a lot better today thanks to caring people in the forums. angel

RE: how lonely is lonely

Too lonely is when my mother told me that isn't her any more. Too lonely is two months later when the police show up again and my mother said if you want to date its ok. Just don't bring them here because three women have died here. Too lonely is when you feel their hands hot on both your shoulders and it sends chills down the back of your spine.

Could I Be Dreaming?
by RainbowSlider

Could I be just dreaming or is this true?
That you were meant for me and me for you.
Are you really the one that I have sought?
Maybe its merely fantasy or a wild thought.
Does the heart grow fonder all on its own?
Might be just for so long I've been alone.
Has fate or something cosmic made us thus?
Feelings were something I used to trust.
Have I matured to the point of no return?
Logic says look away but yet still I yearn.
Is it all just a cruel trick my mind plays?
Once was a time when I did as my heart says.
Didn't the things make sense so long ago?
After all this time you'd think I'd know.
Could I be just dreaming or is this true?
That you were meant for me and me for you.

I love it when you call me names~Phobe Snow, lol.

RE: why nagging a man doesn't work!

Did you say your name was Sue, Nipper, lol. I like that song by Johnny Cash, lol.

RE: So, who are you anyway?

I am Roy.

RE: Well, it's official!

Make us Arkies proud. Be sure to show some Southern hospitality up there, lol. I got plenty of poke salat in the back yard if you need to take some with you. I am going to make me a mess of poke salat when I can steal some eggs out of one of the neighbor's hen house, lol.

RE: why nagging a man doesn't work!

True. There is a direct scientific aproach. It is cause and effect or a fundemental law of physics. The nagging is indirectly proportional to the amount of clothes you have to pick up. As you start picking up the clothes nagging lessens to the same degree. Eventually after all the clothes have been picked up the nagging will cease. It is elementary.

RE: Break the boredom.

Damn I never win. I don't even know why I even tried at this competition.

Have you ever had to eat humble pie?

True enough. My friend, Sharon - Chance talked about it in one thread. In my 12 step meetings we discuss the difference in humility and being humble. Sometimes we have to choose between two evils and it doesn't seem like a good choice is available. Like for instance car insurance. It is a good thing to have. There was a time when one did not legally have to have it. But then if you get in accident you can be glad that you have it. Sometimes, one just have to bite the bullet and start over from scratch. One doesn't want to throw the baby out with the bath water but sometimes one just has to do the best one can and go from there.

Have you ever had to eat humble pie?

I think that would improve the flavor, lol. laugh

RE: CAN I CALL HIM MY EX???

For me there was this time when I felt I was no longer part of the relationship. It came long after the separation time. I wouldn't say I felt whole again then. It took a real long time before I felt whole, again. I think there is still a residue effect. Nene helped me to understand it this way. Once you have loved someone that love doesn't necessary die that you had for them. I think 'ex' can be a legal term sometimes and then later a state of being.

RE: CAN I CALL HIM MY EX???

True, Lene. There is a transitional period when no matter how bad you want to strangle them you still feel this type of bond. Especially if you have been with them for a long time. I can only speak for myself and for my particular situation but it was like my world came apart. I guess I believed in that other half theory because it was like a half of me was missing. When one's best friend turns into one's worse enemy it can be a traumatic experience. Atleast for me it was that way.

RE: Who's Earned their Red Wings

I don't guess anybody has earned their's yet. angel

RE: CAN I CALL HIM MY EX???

You know like a visual of that is what happened the last time I thought about getting into a new relationship.

RE: CAN I CALL HIM MY EX???

I think that is when they change from be the "better" half to being the "bitter" half. The picture could be used as a reminder when thinking of being impulsive and just going out with the first person they have a chance to. It might make one be less hasty about getting into a new relationship.

RE: How do you define "Equality"?

I got to meet a poet laurette(sp) in here. She helped me to published my poems. She lasted maybe a half day in here because she basically thought all the women in here were evil, lol. She pegged me and knew exactly what I was like, lol. I don't think she spent enough time in here. One can be intolerant of others. People are going to disagree. It is human nature. People are basically human although I guess there are variations, lol.

RE: How do you define "Equality"?

I am glad you are sticking up for yourself. There are times when if we don't stick up for ourself then who will. Make your voice heard. I had many female teachers growing up as I am sure a lot of people have.

A man of quality is not threatened by a woman of equality. Betty Friedan
